Voting Results

Votes to determine the implementation of v.2.4 network upgrade as approved by the concerned community members on July 17 were concluded on Tuesday with 98.22% “YES” votes and 1.78% “NO” votes.

The majority of votes in support of the network enhancement implementation came from the Setten Validator (2.7%) and Smart Stake Analytics Hub (2.29%). However, the Kucoin Luna Node and 70 other validators exempted themselves from voting on the on-chain proposal.

What Does Terra (LUNA) Hope To Achieve With Upgrade 

The main idea behind the just-concluded update is to push for the adoption of LUNA, the dedicated token of the Terra blockchain. Per a previously drafted outline by Terra’s development team, the upgrade will integrate and tackle four impediments known to limit activities on the Terra blockchain.

One such limitation that got resolved following the successful upgrade implementation is the issue of Smart Contracts not triggering as expected.

In addition, undelegation problems witnessed by some Terra blockchain users got resolved. At the same time, a crucial issue related to message validation got fixed too.

Terra (LUNA) Moves For Inter Blockchain Communication (IBC)

Per new findings, a group of developers submitted a Terra enhancement proposal for governance voting on Monday. The new proposal was tagged “Gate Contract,” which aims at promoting inter Blockchain Communication (IBC) messages between Terra (LUNA) and other smart contracts running on different chains.

It is worth noting that Terra (LUNA) blockchain can not merge with Terra Classic (LUNC) blockchain as both blockchains are known to be certified independent blockchains; Terraform Labs staff, Jared, made this disclosure via an old tweet.

According to a report from Bloomberg, South Korean prosecutors, who have been working to trace the missing crypto assets, said Kwon possibly moved $29 million worth of crypto by himself or someone did it on his behalf.

The report reads in part:

“We’re assuming that Do Kwon, or someone under his direction, took out the amount and moved it to another wallet, not to Sygnum, and cashed it out somewhere else. We are tracking it.”

Kwon was first arrested in Montenegro in March after attempting to board a flight to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a Costa Rican passport, which authorities say was allegedly forged. Kwon pleaded not guilty in May in a Montenegro court to charges of forging travel documents.

Authorities in both the United States and South Korea want to extradite the Terra founder, who is facing multiple charges arising from the $40 billion crash of the Terra ecosystem stablecoin TerraUSD (UST) and the crypto asset Terra (LUNA) now renamed Terra Classic (LUNC).

Dan Sunghan, director of the financial crime investigation bureau at the Seoul Southern District Prosecution Service, informed Bloomberg that Kwon could serve more than 40 years in prison if found guilty of the charges.

In a recent development, Changelly believes Terra (LUNA) would perform outstandingly in the crypto market, giving investors a tremendous return on investment (ROI) this year. Per a Sunday blog post, the widely adopted cryptocurrency exchange forecasted the monthly price performance for LUNA and the expected ROI for every month. 

LUNA Price Prediction: February to Mid-2023

With February 2023 almost ending, expert analysts at  Changelly state that the maximum price LUNA can achieve in the remaining days of the month is $1.90. Despite the persisting bearish trend on LUNA, the platform noted that the asset would not fall beneath the $1.67 level. Notably, data extracted from Coingecko show Terra (LUNA) is down about 7% in the last 7 days. At the time of writing, LUNA is trading for $1.71 per coin.

A slight LUNA price surge is expected in March. According to Changelly, the potential return on investment LUNA can bring in the succeeding month is 15%. It is projected that the value of the asset would stay above $1.82 throughout March 2023 while its predicted maximum price is $1.99 during this month. 

While the potential ROI on LUNA for April 2023 is pegged at 19.7%, Changelly predicted that LUNA investors would see a higher return in May 2023. In particular, it is projected that LUNA’s price may record an increase in value to as high as $2.17 in May, with the assumption that it may not plummet below $1.93 during this month. This goes further to imply a potential 25.4% ROI if one chooses to invest in LUNA in May. 

But in April, TA experts expect the average exchange rate of LUNA to be around $1.96. For this month, it is also said that the asset would have its strong support at the $1.87 level with a tight resistance at $2.07. 

Then by mid-2023, LUNA is predicted to give investors a return on investment that is above 30%. The predicted price range for LUNA in June 2023 is $2.01 and $2.25. 

Terra Classic (LUNC) Price Prediction 

As earlier reported by TimesTabloid, a machine learning algorithm that utilizes several technical indicators including the Relative Strength Index and Moving Average for prediction equally forecasted the price of LUNC for March 1, 2023. 

Unlike the bullish sentiment Changelly has for LUNA, the PricePrediction platform showed a short-term bearish sentiment for Terra Classic. But with the anticipated positive reaction from the largest blockchain ecosystem and exchange,  Binance regarding the Terra Classic burn expedition, LUNC could be set for a notable rally in the coming months.

LUNA clinched its all-time high of $103 in December 2021 during the peak of the crypto market bull run. Following the subsequent price decline of the asset in May 2022, which was a result of the de-pegging of TerraUSD (UST) – the Terra blockchain algorithm stablecoin – several investors lost interest in the crypto asset while other holders have been hoping to see a recovery. 

At the time of writing, LUNA is changing hands at $2.28 per coin. Per a recent blog post, Annie Izockey, a Changelly team member, disclosed the LUNA price target for each month in 2023. According to the crypto analyst, LUNA is expected to hit a maximum high of $3.25 in 2023 and a minimum low of $2.67 per coin. 

Ultimately, Annie expects LUNA to grow by over 34.9% in 2023 from its current price. The asset is expected to have an average trading price of $2.77 per coin in the year 2023. 

LUNA Prediction For Q1 of 2023

Given the recent recovery in the crypto market, LUNA price recorded a mild increase in January just like most coins and tokens did. Crypto analysts now forecast that the asset would not fall beneath $1.85 during this month. 

But in February, the LUNA support level is expected to rise to $2.00. Per the post, it could go as high as $2.16 in February. On average, Annie Izockey predicts that the dollar worth of Terra might be around $2.08. 

The predicted maximum high of LUNA in February is predicted to become the average price ($2.16) of LUNA in March 2023. During this month, the asset’s lowest support level could further rise to $2.07 while its March maximum value might be $2.24, per the update. 

For April 2023, the analyst considered the previous price performances of LUNA in the same month. She wrote, “in the middle of the year 2022, the LUNA price will be traded at $2.21 on average.” She added LUNA might record an increase in value to $2.35, citing that the asset’s price will not drop lower than $2.13 in April 2023.

LUNC and LUNA Controversy

It bears mentioning that after the Terra Classic (LUNC) and USTC crash, the TerraForm Labs abandoned LUNC to invent Terra (LUNA) in May. However, the TFL continued to support LUNC and the Terra Classic community.

But in recent outcomes, the TFL team stated that LUNC would not be supported in their upcoming wallet application due to incompatibility issues. Also, as reported by TimesTabloid, TerraForm Labs stated that LUNC and LUNA cannot merge due to many reasons. 

This and many more occurrences led the Terra Classic development group – Terra Rebels –  to abandon TFL’s infrastructure to develop an independent LUNC wallet dubbed Rebel Station. Although there have been several feuds surrounding the allocated funds for the Rebel Station project, the Terra Classic Community is gearing up to be fully independent of LUNA infrastructure. 

Accordingly, Jared, a top TFL developer disclosed the importance and associated benefits of this move by the Terra Classic community, citing that it could help boost the price of LUNC. LUNC is trading for $0.0001789 per coin at press time but a popular community member has shared the fastest way to grow LUNC price by 100X and more.

Do Kwon, the founder of CEO of the firm expected the close down of the old chain in order to concentrate fully on the new chain (now recognized as Terra), but a number of other community members showed their beliefs in the revival of Terra Classic (LUNC). The two cryptocurrencies are operating differently because they are not of the same chain. But some members are presently clamoring for a possible merge of the two chains. However, the recent response from a staff of Terraform Labs confirmed that it’s impossible for the two blockchains to merge in the future.

According to a recent report from @CowboyCryptonaire, a pseudonymous member of the Terra Classic community, @Jared_TFL of Terraform Labs said COSMOS chains cannot be merged, so there is no possibility for LUNC and LUNA to merge anytime in the future.

He also reported @DemonMonkey777 saying that “it’s not really feasible, LUNC and LUNA are sister chains and they shouldn’t be merged”

In response to the report on Twitter, @Jared_TFL reiterated his stance on the chance of getting LUNA and LUNC together on the same chain.

Recall that LUNA was birthed shortly after the historic collapse of the Terra ecosystem which was caused by the de-pegging of the algorithmic stablecoin, formerly known as TerraUSD (UST), as designed by Do Kwon. 

Ever since LUNA spiked to an all-time high of $19.54 on May 28, the token has been in a steady decline, establishing an all-time low of $1.17 in December 2022. With over 93% decline from its all-time high, roughly 43% decline in the last 90 days, and an 18% fall in the last 30 days at press time, interest in the token continues to lessen by the day.

At the time of writing, LUNA’s price is exchanging hands at $1.33, having plummeted by over 2% in the last 24 hours. While it’s not certain the trend it will maintain in 2023, some technical indicators indicate that LUNA’s price could easily go either way in the short term. 

Particularly, its relative strength index (purple) dropped below 60 today after reaching 70 earlier this year. Also, LUNA’s moving average (red) for the 30 days range continues to hover around its 200-day average (blue). 

Considering that no algorithmic stablecoin powers the Terra 2.0 blockchain coupled with the lack of significant use cases related to the coin, the possibility of LUNA rallying to the $100 mark or anywhere close appears slim but not impossible.

There is a significant difference between the amount airdropped to users who held these tokens before and after the collapse of the Terra ecosystem.

The distribution plan also shows that Binance will carry out the remaining Terra (LUNA) airdrop distributions from December 2022 or June 2023 onward. The exchange reveals that this will take place over a period of 24 or 48 months.

Recall that the Terra ecosystem collapsed earlier this year and subsequently rebranded to the Terra Classic ecosystem, while an entirely new chain was launched to replace the imploded blockchain.

After the collapse of the Terra blockchain, LUNC circulating supply jumped from 340 million tokens to 6.9 trillion, resulting in a historic LUNC price drop to fractions of a Cent.

It’s worth noting that Binance has been supporting the LUNC burn initiative and it’s currently the major contributor with billions of LUNC tokens already incarcerated by the exchange.

As disclosed by the pseudonymous validator on the Terra Classic network, Classy Crypto, Do Kwon who abandoned LUNC to launch Terra 2.0 (LUNA) in May has set out to contribute toward the revitalization of the LUNC project. 

Particularly, the Terra founder who had earlier integrated Terra Classic into the official wallet of Terra, affirmed that Terra Station would perpetually support the LUNC community. Do Kwon also noted that the TFL would accommodate Terra Classic in future partnerships secured for LUNA.

The TFL’s decision to include the LUNC in future LUNA collaborations is believed to be quite timely and significant for the Terra Classic community. Currently, the Terra Classic team is on course to launch the v23 network upgrade. This upgrade planned for December 2022, aims to make Terra Classic compatible with decentralized applications on the Terra (LUNA) chain. 

In highlighting the significance of the v23 upgrade, LUNC DAO, the fourth-largest validator on the Terra Classic network stated that achieving a technological parity between LUNC and LUNA, will allow Dapps on the LUNA chain to deploy easily on the LUNC network. 

Consequently, this would lead to increased on-chain activity on the Terra Classic network. LUNC DAO further wrote, “LUNA is the hope for the heartbroken community to rebuild.”

In a leaked WhatsApp conversation between a supposed LUNC core developer and Kwon as shared on Twitter by LUNC DAO, possible interoperability between the old Luna chain and the new Luna chain was suggested.

It can be recalled that after the collapse of the old Terra Luna chain, an entirely new chain was created codenamed Terra (LUNA 2.0). Ever since, the old chain, which is now known as Terra Classic, has been abandoned by Do Kwon and his team of developers at Terraform Labs.

Possible Mutual Alliance between LUNC and LUNA

It should be noted that Do Kwon has started to show a kind of support to the Terra Classic community lately and the recent conversation is proof of his interest in the imploded digital asset LUNC.

In the WhatsApp conversation, the anonymous Terra Classic developer wrote:

“Some quick thoughts $LUNC and $LUNA. What if we envisioned a twin moons in the sky scenario where the whole was greater than the sum of the parts?

“- LUNC gets upgraded to parity – Some LUNA apps being built could launch on LUNC too. Good for builders and the LUNC Community (LUNC is suffering from a severe case of high attention/ MCap but no builders or clear direction).

“- Interchain alliance between LUNC + LUNA? LUNC staking rewards are high and desirable.

“- Reward post-crash LUNC holders who created terra station wallets for interacting with LUNA too. Many hundred thousands of new wallets were created in the last few months.

“- Down the road, I am imagining the possibilities for aligned incentives and stuff like games where the LUNC crowd could go head to head with LUNA, etc. But you guys will have more ideas

“Thoughts? Feels like a really fascinating jigsaw pieces situation where we can transmute the existing situation/attention and benefit all.”

In response to the LUNC user’s suggestions, Kwon said it’s not hard to form an alliance with LUNC as long as the community supports it.

Do Kwon said, “Forming an alliance with lunc isn’t hard – as long as a software upgrade proposal can pass from that side.”

However, it seems an alliance between LUNA and LUNC is not a good idea for many Terra Classic community members as some of them threatened to dump their LUNC holdings if such an association happens.

In a report published by a local news site Naver, a new fact linked to the collapse of Terra blockchain has further implicated the founder, Do Kwon. This new revelation is one of many allegations levels against him and it’s widely thought that he’s currently on the run.

Going by the report, Kwon instructed a Terraform Labs employee to artificially adjust the price of Terra (LUNA) to a certain level. Affirming the allegation, an official from the prosecutor’s office said that the allegation is based on messenger chats between Kwon and a Terraform Labs employee.

The official said:

“I can’t reveal the details, but it was a conversation history where CEO Kwon specifically ordered price manipulation.”

Meanwhile, Kwon claimed that he hasn’t seen any copy of the arrest warrant from Korean authorities as claimed in the media. He said this during an interview with Laura Shin of Unchained.

“We haven’t seen a copy of the arrest warrant, so every piece of data that we’re consuming regarding this is from the media, which as you can imagine in a situation like this, is kind of hectic. There’s a lot of contradictory information.”

Speaking about why he doesn’t want to reveal his current location, he said “when the crash happened in May, there were lots of situations where personal security was threatened. People broke into my apartment building in multiple cases. The media televised my home in South Korea as well as my home in Singapore. Every time the location where I live becomes known, it becomes almost impossible for me to live there.”

Kwon added that a lot of things that are coming from South Korea about him are not true. He said he does not whether the government is intentionally misleading the public or a sort of simple mistake.
