Jared of TFL noted specifically that LUNC along with Osmosis, Juno, SEI, Carbon, and a bonus chain has been integrated into the Station repo. The developer added that Interchain support for Terra Classic will be launched on December 12. 

He wrote on Tuesday, “integrating today into Station repo: Lunc, Osmosis, Juno, SEI, Carbon plus a bonus chain, which will be announced later this week. We are launching interchain support roughly 48hrs from this tweet. After this initial launch, chain integrations will be on a rolling basis.”

This compatibility update between LUNC and the impending Interchain Station has sparked much interest from the Terra Classic community. This is so because Jared said earlier that Terra Classic will not be compatible with the Interchain Station except the project modifies its prefix. 

The TFL developer further encouraged the Terra Classic community to strive to attain independence from TerraForm Labs’ infrastructure, highlighting the associated advantages and benefits to LUNC. More so, Jared added that the TFL is willing to exit direct support for the Terra Classic chain when it becomes fully independent of TFL’s infrastructure. 

So this update from the liaison man between TFL and the LUNC community comes at a time when the Terra Classic developer group, Terra Rebels, abandoned TFL’s infrastructure to develop an independent LUNC wallet dubbed Rebel Station. 

To build Rebel Station, the independent LUNC dev group Terra Rebels submitted a controversial proposal that passed and they eventually received a funding sum of $150,000.

The last update regarding Rebel Station from the TR group was on December 20. Since no further updates have been received from the group, coupled with the perceived misappropriation of the allocated funds, LUNC community members demanded a refund of the $150,000 from Terra Rebels, which has not been done. More so, the TR scam allegations negatively impacted Binance’s LUNC burn support.

The TFL, as part of its developmental endeavor for Terra Luna, transitioned its Terra Station to an Interchain Station. Prior claims entailed that the Terra Classic (LUNC) network would lose support on the TFL’s new Interchain Station if its prefix isn’t modified before December 15. 

According to Terra Rebels, the work that the TFL has described as being necessary to make the Terra Classic network compatible with its new Interchain Station is extensive and costly Layer 1 work. Given that Terra Rebels isn’t ready for the LUNC prefix change, the team submitted a proposal, gunning for independence. 

In clearing the air and also responding to many rising concerns from the LUNC community members, Jared, a lead member of the TFL, noted that the team has devised a means to keep support for Terra Classic (LUNC) intact. 

In a reply tweet, Jared of TFL confirmed that both Terra Station and the new Interchain Station would co-exist. He wrote, “Yeah, we figured it out this morning. Can support legacy version, and interchain version now.”

The TFL developer also affirmed that there is no loss of support for Terra Classic citing that, a legacy version of Terra station will still exist with full support for LUNC but depending on the TerraForm Labs’ infrastructure.

Terra Rebels Guns for Full Independence from TerraForm Labs 

Although Do Kwon and the TerraForm Labs (TFL) abandoned the Terra Classic (LUNC) project to innovate a separate project dubbed Terra LUNA, the LUNC community still depends on the TFL partially for full functionality. 

Given that the TFL team is developing a new wallet application called Interchain Station that can only support the LUNC network conditionally, the Terra Rebels team has submitted a proposal to be fully independent. 

Part of the proposal read, 

“This community pool spend proposal from Terra Rebels is concerned with ensuring that the community retains access to their wallets through Rebel Station after TFL replace Terra Station with a new wallet application, Interchain Station, with which Terra Classic is not compatible without extensive and costly L1 development work.”

“The Rebel Station Chrome Extension and Website are fully hosted by Terra Rebels, but still rely on significant parts of TFL’s back-end assets/infrastructure. We, therefore, propose that we must urgently perform work to separate the Rebel Station Website and Chrome Extension from TFL.”

In a recent announcement, the beleaguered blockchain founder Do Kwon affirmed that the Terra Classic network and LUNC token will be integrated into Terra Station. This entails that Terra Station, the official wallet of the Terra (Luna) blockchain now supports the LUNC token, alongside other Cosmos chain-related tokens like ATOM. 

Do Kwon made this confirmation after informing Cosmos chain core teams that are interested in Terra Station integration to send him a direct message. He added that the integration service will be free.

Per the update, other Cosmos blockchains supported on Terra Station include Sei Network, Juno Network, Comdex, and ATOM among others.

Why LUNC Support on Terra Station is Important 

The integration of the Terra Classic (LUNC) network on Terra Station is vital given that Terra station is the most performant Remote Procedure Call (RPC) in the Cosmos blockchain. Another importance is that Terra Station is Mantlemint supported. 

Notably, Mantlemint is a fast core optimized for serving massive user queries. This further implies that the Terra Classic network will now be able to handle massive queries, due to its integration on Terra Station. 

“Most won’t get this, but more interesting than station will be mantlemint support – it’s the most performant rpc in cosmos (basically backend for apps) which comes as a package,” Kwon stated. In response, Jacob Gadikian, a Cosmos SDK user concurred with Kwon’s assertion, adding that the codes underneath Terra Station are topnotch. 

While some LUNC community members commended him for his continued support for the Terra Classic ecosystem, some expressed their resentment for Kwon, citing the May collapse of the LUNC chain.

Meanwhile, another community member claimed that the integration of several Cosmos chains on Terra Station marks the beginning of the Interchain Alliance project by Terra (LUNA).

To note, Alliance is an open-source Cosmos SDK module that leverages interchain staking to form economic alliances among blockchains. On November 18, the Terra (Luna) team announced that the Alliance GitHub and documents are now open-source. 

As earlier reported by Timestabloid, Terra founder Do Kwon recently brought to the notice of the Terra Classic community the existence of an Ethereum multisig wallet, containing non-Terra assets worth about $4.16 million at the time. Consequently, several debates are still ongoing regarding the handling of these assets.
