LUNC proponents and holders can now enjoy all the functionalities and have a seamless experience on Terra Station — the official wallet application of the proof-of-stake Terra blockchain including transfer and withdrawal. 

As per an update shared by a top validator on the Terra Classic network LUNC Nymph, all the pressing issues with Terra Station have been rectified. 

“…Terra Station has recovered fully,” he wrote, hailing two top developers in the Terra blockchain community — Jared of TerraForm Labs and Tobias Andersen of the LUNC L1 Task Force. 

To show that transfer of LUNC assets from the wallet application is now working properly, the top validator shared a shot where he moved 500 Terra Classic tokens out of Terra Station to another address. 

Reacting to the tweet, Tobias Andersen noted that the updating work was a tough one given that Terra Station is a decentralized and open-source solution. However, he stressed that Jared of TerraForm Labs did most of the work.

He wrote, “This was all Jared_TFL. We just provided some PRs, but the hard work was performed in his end. Updating distributed systems is not easy and it takes time and patience, especially in a decentralized/open-source setting. We should all be thankful and show more patience.”

Notably, there have been several issues regarding staking rewards withdrawal and transaction fetching in the past months on Terra Station. With the independent LUNC wallet dubbed Rebel Station yet to be deployed, these issues with Terra Station highly inconvenienced users that held LUNC on the wallet application. 

But Jared, a senior developer at TerraForm Labs who has been very supportive of the Terra Classic community encouraged that the issue would be fixed. Therefore, this development is a fulfillment of his earlier commitment. Accordingly, he received lots of appreciation from the hopeful community. 

Recall that the TFL staff also noted that the Terra 2.0 team is in the process of developing a new wallet — Interchain Station — that may not support Terra Classic (LUNC) except the project name is rebranded. 

This triggered the LUNC community to allocate a whopping $150,000 to the independent development group Terra Rebels to build an autonomous LUNC wallet labeled Rebel Station. 

In a disappointing turn of events, Terra Rebels misappropriated these funds, causing the LUNC community to demand a refund. Amid all of this saga, the group recently reported that Rebel Station is in the pre-production phase.

Per an update shared today, Terra Rebels shared the progress regarding the development of Rebel Station with the Terra Classic community.  

According to the team which is currently confronted with fraud allegations, the expected independent LUNC wallet dubbed Rebel Station is in the pre-production phase. 

While disclosing that they are operating fully independent of Do Kwon and the TerraForm Labs team, Terra Rebels added that the team is still expecting delivery of key components needed for the completion of Rebel Station. 

This separation seems good for the Terra Classic (LUNC) project as Terra founder Do Kwon and the TerraForm Labs were recently sued by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for multiple frauds including the price manipulation of TerraClassicUSD (USTC), formerly called TerraUSD (UST). 

In addition, it was noted that transaction history involving the Terra Classic token can be found on the anticipated Rebel Station and the associated explorer. 

The announcement said, “Rebel Station is now on a pre-production set-up and operating fully independently of TFL. Awaiting delivery of multiple hardware components before pushing to full production. History for LUNC transactions are live on Rebel Station and Finder.”

Recall that the Terra Rebels received a whopping $150,000 for the building of the LUNC wallet from the Terra Classic community pool.  Subsequently, it was reported that the team mismanaged these funds, causing the community to demand refunds. 

This led to heated disarray in the community that threatened Binance’s support for LUNC burn and impeded developments in the project ecosystem. While Terra Rebels is yet to refund this $150,000, they continue to share updates intermittently as promised, regarding the development of Rebel Station. But the team has been threatened with a lawsuit.

Neblio took to Twitter on Thursday to affirm the announcement thus:

However, this update was received with mixed reactions by members of the Terra Classic community. The skepticism about this development comes as a result of Terra Rebels’ misappropriation of the $150,000 allocated for the building on the independent LUNC wallet – Rebel Station.

Alex Forshaw, an ex-Terra Rebels member expressed his lack of interest in the LUNC-supported Neblio wallet saying, “Great news guys! Remember that $150k you gave us to ship things relevant for the LUNC chain? Well, after stealing the funds, we decided to ship an onramp for an unrelated, VC-owned shitcoin! LUNC community ftw! You’re welcome, LFG!!”

Per a report by TimesTabliod the Terra Classic community called out to the independent LUNC development group to refund the $150,000 (937.5 million LUNC). As also included in the report, a former TR member who hacked Terra Rebels’ Twitter page, divulged the group’s corruption, citing the grounds on which the TR can be sued.

Though the LUNC community Proposal 11030 was highly controversial, more validators on the network gave their support, and subsequently, a funding fee of 937,500,000 LUNC amounting to $150,000 at the time of issuance was sent to the Terra Rebels group. 

Considering that the development team failed to clearly state how the funds would be utilized to execute the Rebel Station restructuring project but rather shared it among a few team members, LUNCDAO, one of the popular LUNC validators, TerraCVita, and other community members called out Terra Rebels for scamming the Terra Classic community. It is worth noting that the TR group reportedly removed and blocked members who did not support their vague plans. 

Notably, the competing LUNC development team, TerraCVita said the amount given to the TR team was a waste of resources, adding the project could be completed in a few days by a single developer instead of the two-month time frame submitted by the TR team.

LUNC Community Demand $150,000 Refund From Terra Rebels

As the matter continues to heat up and given that the Terra Rebels group has neither made any factual comments nor shown justifiable proof of work, the LUNC community in recent comments is demanding a complete refund of the $150,000 allocated to them weeks ago. The LUNCDAO Twitter handle wrote, “TR’s ex-legal calling out the scam. Clan, Vegas, and the TR scam squad think the LUNC Community is dumb. Since stealing $150K, all they’ve done is ban/block people asking questions, write obfuscating BS and play the victim. The Community only wants 1 thing: their money back now.”

Likewise, an inactive Terra Rebels Communication Director with the alias PSX_TX took to Twitter on Christmas day to further expose the fraudulent act shown by the independent development team. As a result of his internal investigation exercise, he revealed to the Terra Rebels that they have committed 4 crimes against the LUNC community and all members of the group are at risk of facing litigation if no refund is made to the community pool.

According to the whistleblower, the crimes committed by the dev group Terra Rebels include investor fraud, community fraud (false advertising), money laundering, wire fraud, and embezzlement. According to LUNCDAO, one of the validators on the Terra Classic network, Terra Rebels used their recent Rebel Station development proposal to swindle $150,000 from the LUNC community pool. Recall that at the passing of the highly controversial proposal 11030, a whopping 937.5 million LUNC was sent to the Terra Rebels group. 

However, the unspecific facts in the proposal like the non-disclosure of how the funds would be expended led to several suspicions and questions from many community members like Strathcole, LUNCDAO, and a competing LUNC development group TerraCVita among others. 

Reacting to these emerging concerns about funds utilization, ClanMudhorn, the TR administrative representative, stated that it’s not the community’s business. “Well, internal distribution is not something we feel concerns community members. Distribution will be given to those that can provide proof of work,” he wrote. This statement and more unusual occurrences like the recent layoff of ten group members raised more suspicions.

Terra Rebels Accused of Funds Extortion 

On Thursday, LUNCDAO published a perceived summary of the alleged Terra Rebels scam action in a tweet. Per the attached screenshot, the LUNC validator recalled that the Rebel Station development proposal specified that the 937.5 million LUNC will only be used to fund “needed infra, Rebel Station, and API work.”

Contrarily, the TR split these funds among their administrators and others who scripted the proposal, as conveyed by LUNCDAO. “Instead, the $150k was immediately sent to discord moderators ($12.5k each) and non-technical people, who wrote the proposal and/or who used their validator power (Vegas) to pay themselves,” the update showed. 

“7 ex-Terra Rebels members kicked by the scam orchestrators and those who left previously have confirmed everything,” the disclosure read, adding that “the proposal misrepresented the real situation and twisted TerraForm Labs’ words (e.g. they will support TS, RS not needed).” 

Binance Could Stop LUNC Burning

As a result of this recent scam allegation thrown at the Terra Rebels group, it is speculated that Binance, the highest contributor to the total LUNC burned, is likely to cease supporting the Terra Classic token burn mission. LUNCDAO said, “Binance likely to stop burning because of the TR scam.” However, this remains just an assumption as there is no statement from the exchange yet.

It is worth noting that Binance has destroyed approximately 20,102,986,982 LUNC out of the total burned volume of roughly 36,294,153,165 LUNC. In their last burn event, the exchange took out a whopping 6.3 billion LUNC from circulation forever.

This crucial upgrade was done concurrently with the successful re-enabling of the Inter Blockchain Communication (IBC) channels between Terra Classic (LUNC) and Osmosis, according to the LUNC developer, Raider. 

Classy Crypto, the renowned validator on the LUNC network broadcasted the disclosure on Tuesday with a corresponding screenshot. “V23 has already been delivered (v1.0.4 to open IBCs) that Edward Kim delivered with an external team,” Raider wrote in a Discord discussion. Notably, this entails that the Terra Classic network is now fully interoperable with other Cosmos-based blockchains.

Meanwhile, as earlier noted, the V23 upgrade was to be done by Terra Rebels, the leading independent LUNC development group. “Only after the Terra Rebels v23 release containing the CosmWasm upgrade will Terra Classic become fully interoperable with other Cosmos-based blockchains. Terra Rebels continues to build value for the Terra Classic Community, LUNC, and USTC,” Raider tweeted in October.

However, his recent statement showed that the Terra Classic V23 upgrade was executed by Edward Kim, a top contributor to the growth of LUNC with the help of an external team.

More Developments Coming to Terra Classic

It is worth noting that more forward-looking developments are coming to the embattled project that could help boost investors’ interest in LUNC.

Part of Raider’s statement revealed that the Terra Rebels group is partnering with Edward to establish the v2.0.3 upgrade on the Terra Classic blockchain. He wrote, “v2.0.3 which will cover the parity upgrades and other Layer 1 work is still in the process of being budgeted and we are collaborating with Ed for that process.”

Recall that the TR’s fund-requesting proposal to develop a LUNC wallet application (Rebel Station) that would be completely independent of Do Kwon’s TerraForm Labs passed governance voting. In consequence, a whopping $150,000 in LUNC (937.5 million) was released from the community pool to Terra Rebels. 

Interestingly, the dev group which recently laid off ten non-functional members has made significant progress already, regarding the Rebel Station. Earlier today, the team dropped a status update on Rebel Station, adding that they will continue to give updates periodically when more information becomes available.

This development comes shortly after ClanMudHorn noted that TR team members who are active, and productive with verifiable proof of work would be rewarded from the 937.5 million LUNC sidelined for the building of an independent Rebel Station. According to the TR admin, “a large portion of the funding would go towards purchasing cloud services and be distributed to team members capable of showing proof of work.”

Recall that Proposal 11030, which is centered on the development of an independent LUNC wallet dubbed Rebel Station that will be unreliant on the infrastructure of Do Kwon’s TerraForm Labs recently passed governance voting. Accordingly, 937,500,000 LUNC worth $150,000 were released to Terra Rebels to fund the project which is expected to last for two months.

In a recent development, funding for the Rebel Station wallet application has been made available to the independent LUNC development group, Terra Rebels. However, there have been several internal antagonisms from some LUNC community members.

Following the disclosure from the TFL team that the upcoming Terra 2.0 Interchain Station will not support LUNC due to incompatibility issues, Terra Rebels opted to develop an independent wallet for Terra Classic dubbed Rebel Station. This led to the rollout of a proposal titled “Separation of Rebel Station from TFL Infrastructure.” 

The proposal published nearly two weeks ago for voting highlighted the significance of an independent LUNC wallet. Also, Terra Rebels requested $150,000 (937,500,000 LUNC,  at the time of proposal submission) in funding to execute the separation of the Rebel Station Website and Chrome Extension from Kwon’s TFL. The dev team added that the work is expected to be completed within two months

According to the pseudonymous validator on the Terra Classic network ClassyCrypto, the Rebel Station-related proposal passed on Friday, as the community voted in support. In essence, the equivalent of $150,000 in LUNC has been allocated to the Terra Rebels team. 

“LUNC Proposal 11030 to fund Terra Rebels has now PASSED giving 937 MILLION LUNC toward L1 development to separate ourselves from TFL,” Classy wrote earlier today. 

But at the current exchange rate of $0.0001551 per LUNC, Terra Rebels would receive approximately 967 million Terra Classic tokens from the community pool.

In a subsequent tweet, Terra Rebels wrote, “Thank you to the validators and community for contracting us to secure the chain’s wallet interface and backend infrastructure. We look forward to providing the chain with deliverables, building out and maintaining software clients that will see Lunc far into the future.”

Internal Oppositions 

The passing of the Terra Rebels’ proposal to build the Rebel Station has seen several disapproving comments from some LUNC community members and groups. Notable among these opposing remarks came from Strathcole, LUNCDAO, and  TerraCVita, a rivaling Terra Classic development group. 

Strathcole, a member of LUNCPenguin noted that his validator node voted ‘No’, given that the Terra Rebels proposal is not clear and detailed enough. 

In response to Strathcole’s points, the LUNCDAO handle tweeted, “I found it insane that people would immediately vote yes without knowing any specific costs, milestones, who, etc.”

Likewise, the TerraCVita Terra Classic development group disclosed that they do not support the proposal following that TCV has the infrastructure already, citing a waste of resources.

Consequently, the independent group working on LUNC’s revitalization, TR, is on the course of developing a Terra Station clone dubbed Rebel Station. The anticipated Rebel Station will be fully controlled by the Terra Classic community, with no reliance on Do Kwon’s development team, TFL. 

Classy Crypto, a pseudonymous crypto influencer and node validator on the Terra Classic network made this development known on Wednesday via a tweet. Classy shared a screenshot of a discussion in the Terra Rebels (TR) Discord channel, where ClanMudHorn, the group’s admin, stated that Terra Rebels will no longer support Terra Station. 

ClanMudHorn added that TerraCVita (TCV), another independent group working towards the growth of LUNC is the new custodian of Terra Station. In his words, “Terra Station is appearing to still have some issues. Please redirect all TR issues to TCV as they are its new custodian.”

Furthermore, Classy Crypto stressed that handling of the LCD endpoints for Terra Station will now be done by TerraCVita citing that “TR will be supporting their station “Rebel Station” with their LCD clusters.”

Rebel Station Set To Be Onboarded

Rexx, an administrator and marketing representative of Terra Rebels corroborated the interesting update shared by Classy. “Terra Rebels will no longer be updating Terra Station moving forward,” he wrote. According to him, the Rebel Station building is underway and the application links are available on TR’s website.

The development of the independent LUNC wallet – Rebel Station – was fast-tracked given the TFL’s plan to cease support for Terra Classic on its new wallet. As earlier reported, the Luna 2.0 dev team disclosed their plans to build a new wallet labeled Interchain Station that will exist alongside the legacy version – Terra Station.

While LUNC will still be supported on Terra Station, Jared, a top TFL member said Terra Classic will not be supported on the new version – Interchain Station unless the project’s prefix is changed. This gave rise to the ongoing development of the Rebel Station, a wallet application designed to be fully powered by the LUNC community.

Reacting to this, Edward Kim, another top contributor in the LUNC ecosystem whose Terra Classic Grant proposal passed, gave a few clarifications on the Terra Classic chain upgrade, station, and LCD/FCD endpoints. 

He wrote, “TFL is developing a new station wallet that can be interoperable with the classic chain, given technical upgrades.  At this time, we do not meet the criteria and are working to see what is feasible.  What other 3rd party entities do, or do not do, are out of our control.”

“Terra Rebels has a Terra Station clone.  An independent wallet and community endpoint for the classic chain was always necessary, even if it were just to be redundant.  The current events demonstrated this need.  Thank you, TR for making this available,” he added.

Although the interface of the Rebels Station looks similar to Terra Station as pointed out by a number of prominent community members, such as reXx, the notable difference is that it drastically reduces dependence on the Terraform Labs (TFL).

As explained by the group of developers, with this new wallet managed by the Terra community, there will be little or no downtime required to upgrade to new software versions because it won’t need to go through TFL anymore.

According to reXx in response to the announcement, “Version changes can be submitted on the go to limit downtime compared to TFL versions that must go through TFL for approval.”

The new LUNC wallet is designed to enable Terra Classic users to hold and transfer their tokens. It also gives them the ability to delegate holdings, take part in network governance and see vital metrics about the network.
