Federal Reserve researchers published a paper titled “Heraclius: A Byzantine Fault Tolerant Database System with Potential for Modern Payments Systems.” Crypto researcher SMQKE resurfaced it and connected it to three specific digital assets: XRP, XLM, and HBAR.

The paper is in the Fed’s Finance and Economics Discussion Series and carries authors from FRB Boston, FRB San Francisco, and FRB NIT. It examines Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus as the architecture best suited for secure, high-speed payment infrastructure.

The researchers note that a Byzantine fault-tolerant system can process 110,000 transactions per second. SMQKE’s argument is clear. The Fed has validated the consensus model that these assets already run on.

XRP and XLM Share the Same Foundation

The Fed’s paper identifies what it calls “Federated Byzantine Agreement” in Ripple and Stellar. According to the document, “Ripple and Stellar use a federated voting process that is a variant of the Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus model.”

XRP runs on Ripple’s network. XLM runs on Stellar’s. Both assets sit directly inside the architecture the Fed chose to study. XRP, in particular, has long been positioned as the settlement layer for cross-border institutional payments, making the Fed’s focus on this consensus type especially relevant to its use case.

HBAR’s Position in the Same Architecture

HBAR operates on the Hedera Hashgraph network. Hedera’s own documentation describes its system as “asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerant,” which it calls the “highest level of security for distributed networks.”

The Hashgraph achieves consensus through a gossip protocol combined with a virtual voting algorithm. It does not require heavy electricity usage. The Fed paper’s favorable view of BFT mechanisms strengthens the case for HBAR’s infrastructure credentials alongside XRP and XLM.

Wyoming’s state-issued stablecoin is gaining new relevance in the digital asset sector, with Crypto Researcher SMQKE highlighting connections between the token and several major blockchain networks.

In a post on X, SMQKE claimed that XRP, XLM, and HBAR will be used in connection with the Wyoming stablecoin, citing documents that show integrations involving the XRP Ledger, Stellar, and Hedera.

SMQKE stated that XRP and XLM gain access to the Wyoming Stablecoin through integrations with Fireblocks, while HBAR serves as a bridged blockchain for the state-issued token.

The attached material includes a Fireblocks network overview showing support for Stellar, Ripple’s XRP Ledger, and various EVM-compatible chains. The same document lists more than 20 stablecoins supported across the Fireblocks Network, including USDC, USDT, and other assets.

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission’s website also identifies Fireblocks among its partners. Its materials describe the issuance process for the stable token and show that the project has been designed to operate across multiple blockchain environments.

The Wyoming stablecoin, known as FRNT, is currently available for public purchase through Kraken, according to the material shared in the post. The Commission also states that FRNT can be purchased on Solana and bridged to Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Hedera, Optimism, and Polygon through Stargate.

The XRP Distinction Draws a Correction

The claim about XRP itself was corrected by commenter Jeremy Bureau, who focused on the distinction between XRP Ledger integration and direct use of XRP.

Bureau stated that the documentation does not say the Wyoming stablecoin uses XRP. He noted that the documents refer to the XRPL rather than specifically identifying XRP as an asset used by the stablecoin.

He also referenced Wyoming’s earlier treasury bond pilot conducted through the XRP Ledger, saying that the use of the XRPL did not mean XRP itself was involved in that transaction. The GENIUS Act Comparison
