What Links State Street to XRP, XLM, and HBAR

State Street is one of the world’s largest custodial banks. It manages trillions in assets. And it is quietly building a tokenization infrastructure that runs across three distinct blockchain networks. Notably, XRP, XLM and HBAR are in the picture.

Crypto researcher SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) published documentation connecting State Street to the XRP Ledger, Stellar’s XLM network, and Hedera’s HBAR network.

The documentation comes from two sources. The first is a table detailing tokenized money market fund issuers and their blockchain selections. The second is a BCG analysis slide from October 2021 identifying State Street as a notable partner of Securrency.

State Street and Securrency

Securrency is a tokenization platform headquartered in Washington, D.C. It raised $49.4 million in funding and operates across Ethereum, Stellar, Ripple, Gochain, and EOS. State Street is listed as one of its notable partners in the BCG analysis.

That partnership is significant. Securrency’s blockchain stack includes both the XRP Ledger and the Stellar network. Notably, Securrency has previously been highlighted as a potential path for XRP into the DTCC. State Street’s relationship with the platform connects the bank directly to both assets’ underlying infrastructure.

Hedera Enters the Picture

The tokenized fund table adds another layer. State Street Global Advisors Europe Limited is listed as the issuer for seven tokenized liquidity funds. Those funds use Archax as the transfer agent and Hedera as their blockchain. The fund domicile is Ireland.

BlackRock Asset Management Ireland Ltd appears in the same table with an identical setup. It also uses Archax and Hedera for six tokenized liquidity funds. Both institutions are running tokenized money market products on HBAR.

This means State Street has exposure to three separate blockchain networks through its tokenization activity: XRP Ledger and Stellar through Securrency, and Hedera through its Irish-domiciled fund structure.

What the Documentation Shows

SMQKE’s post links all three assets to State Street. The documentation supports that claim. State Street is not operating on one blockchain. It is building across multiple networks simultaneously, each serving a different function within its tokenization strategy.

The Archax connection is also worth noting. Archax is a UK-based digital asset exchange and custodian. Its role as transfer agent for both State Street and BlackRock’s Hedera-based funds puts it at the center of institutional tokenized fund infrastructure in Europe.

Institutional Tokenization Accelerates

The data in these documents reflects a broader institutional shift. Major asset managers are not waiting for blockchain infrastructure to mature further. They are selecting networks, assigning custodians, and issuing tokenized products now.
