Franklin Templeton has built something institutional finance has never seen before. Sandy Kaul, the firm’s Head of Innovation, appeared in a video shared on X by crypto analyst X Finance Bull, explaining how the asset manager now calculates interest on its tokenized money market fund down to the second.
“If you hold it for three hours and six seconds, you get three hours and six seconds worth of interest,” Kaul said. She added: “Nobody can do that today.”
The technology sits inside Franklin Templeton’s Benji platform, launched on June 10, 2025. It processes second-by-second interest calculations, ownership transfers, and daily distributions, including weekends and holidays.
🚨🚨🚨The more Franklin Templeton talks about this, the more bullish I get on $XRP, stellar:native, and hedera-hashgraph:native.
Watch this interview.
Buckle up, this one’s gonna be a long read.
I've been following institutional blockchain adoption for years, and I genuinely… https://t.co/Adba0xAMZf pic.twitter.com/wV4UPRf8gK

What This Means for Institutional Capital
The numbers behind intraday yield are significant at scale. At a hypothetical 4% annual yield, $100 million earns approximately $457 in one hour and $10,959 in 24 hours.
Institutions moving large amounts of capital between investments, payments, and trading activities stand to capture income that previously went uncollected.
Kaul put it plainly: “There is not a single cent in her portfolio that will be idle.”
XRP Ledger Enters the Picture
X Finance Bull connected this technology to three networks. XRP Ledger is one of them. On September 18, 2025, Franklin Templeton, Ripple, and DBS Bank announced plans to link sgBENJI tokenized money market fund shares with RLUSD through DBS Digital Exchange. Franklin Templeton selected XRPL for sgBENJI because of its speed, efficiency, and low transaction costs.
On October 22, 2026, Franklin Templeton issued approximately $150 million in additional sgBENJI shares on XRPL. Two issuances of roughly 72.18 million shares each brought the recorded balance to approximately 192.7 million shares, valued at around $200 million at $1.039 per share. The firm’s XRP ETF, XRPZ, reported approximately $363.11 million in net assets as of September 15, 2026.
Stellar and Hedera Also Involved
Franklin Templeton launched its OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund, FOBXX, on Stellar in April 2021. It became the first U.S.-registered mutual fund to use a public blockchain for recording ownership and processing transactions. The fund held more than $650 million in assets on Stellar as of April 30, 2026.
On Hedera, Archax introduced near-second-by-second cash flow technology on June 11, 2026. It distributes income from tokenized securities through USDC.
Lloyds Banking Group, Aberdeen Investments, and Archax completed a UK-first transaction on July 14, 2025, using tokenized money market fund units and UK government bonds as collateral for foreign exchange trades on Hedera.
Institutional Infrastructure Builds
Franklin Templeton continues expanding its tokenized finance operations. In February 2026, the firm launched a program with Binance allowing institutions to use tokenized money market fund shares as trading collateral held in off-exchange custody.
In June 2026, it partnered with MoonPay Trade to connect stablecoins with tokenized money market investments for treasury management and liquidity.
X Finance Bull sees the convergence of these developments as significant for XRP, XLM, and HBAR long term.
