XRP Ledger Sets New Record: Trustline Transaction Filled Almost Entirely

The XRP Ledger has been processing transactions efficiently for years. On October 10, it did something it had never done before. Vet (@Vet_X0), a validator on the ledger, revealed that ledger #107,569,561 closed with 4,416 transactions. That is the highest number of transactions ever recorded in a single ledger close on the XRP Ledger.

Trustlines Dominated the Block

The breakdown of transaction types tells a specific story. Of the 4,416 total transactions, 4,305 were Trust Set operations. That accounts for 97.5% of the entire ledger. Payments made up 1.6%, with Offer Creates, Offer Cancels, NFToken Create Offers, and other transaction types each accounting for 0.1% to 0.7%.

Only 75 unique active accounts were involved. The total XRP volume moved was 3,530.81 XRP. Fees burned came to just 0.113775 XRP. The success rate stood at 99%, with 4,374 transactions succeeding and 42 failing.

Trustlines are a core feature of the XRP Ledger. They allow accounts to hold and transact in currencies other than XRP. A single ledger processing over 4,300 Trust Set transactions signals a significant wave of new trustline creation.

What This Means for XRP

The XRP Ledger is designed for speed and low cost. This record demonstrates that the network can absorb large transaction volumes in a single ledger close without breaking down. The 99% success rate reinforces that. The fees burned confirm that processing these transactions remained minimal.

A ledger close on the XRP Ledger typically takes three to five seconds. Processing 4,416 transactions in that window shows the network operating at serious capacity.

Community Response

The record generated significant discussion across the XRP community. One observer noted that 4,300 trustlines being created in a single transaction block represents serious onboarding.

Another raised a technical question about whether fee escalation had kicked in during the event. Fee escalation is a mechanism built into the XRP Ledger that increases transaction costs when the network is under high load. This could help burn more tokens as activity rises on the ledger.

One observer described the milestone as impressive and asked whether the network still had room to grow. Another speculated that the volume may have come from a small number of wallets sending dust amounts, attributing the activity to bots.

The question of capacity is worth taking seriously. The XRP Ledger processed a record number of transactions in a single close. It did so cheaply, quickly, and with a 99% success rate.
