Cryptocurrency is rapidly becoming a popular option for online purchases and transactions, but it is also becoming a viable option for real-life purchases.

Ingenico, a well-regarded company that provides payment technology and services to merchants, has recently teamed up with Crypto.com to allow real-life payments for goods to be made with cryptocurrency. This is a fundamental step forward for cryptocurrency to become a fully acceptable method of payment across all businesses. The goods sold by these merchants will join hundreds of other merchandise and services available for purchase with cryptocurrency, including everything from sports cars to online gambling services. Big brands such as Tesla, Expedia, and Microsoft all now accept crypto.

Cryptocurrency can also be used as a payment method for online casinos. This includes the sites listed in this article on the top ETH casinos written by Kane Pepi. These sites allow players to use Ethereum crypto in exchange for cheap, fast, and secure transactions.

This new Crypto.com and Ingenico collaboration is estimated to open up sales from these merchants to an additional 680 million users worldwide, improving revenue for sellers across the globe and making purchasing goods easier for everyone.

For example, cryptocurrency will allow buyers to purchase goods with their own currency in a foreign country, and sellers to receive that payment in their country’s currency. Not only that, but the integrations of crypto-accepted payments will easily allow buyers to earn rewards on their purchases, providing businesses with additional incentives for their customers.

Of course, there is no plan to replace traditional payments with cryptocurrency, but having this as an additional payment method is an intelligent move to open up merchandise to a variety of different people.

When speaking on the move, Crypto.com president Eric Anziana stated, “We are on a mission to make it easier for people to use cryptocurrency in real-world payment scenarios and our partnership with Ingenico will go a long way to bringing crypto out of the web and increase its adoption as a powerful payment too. Crypto.com Pay is a secure and scalable technology, offering our customers yet another innovative way to interact with cryptocurrency–as the future of payments.”

And Ingenico’s plans to bring cryptocurrency as a regular method of payment aren’t ending here. With the aid of Crypto.com, they are in communication with various merchants to make these methods of payment a viable option for customers as soon as 2025. This service is expected to be available across multiple different countries, including the US, UK, and Asia.

The introduction of crypto payment to merchants will not be one of high complexity. All a payer needs is the blockchain address of the merchant they are buying from. This can be copied and pasted into their crypto wallet, but businesses are advised to provide a QR code for crypto payments at the checkout to help streamline the process. The ease of this, in addition to all the well-known benefits of cryptocurrency, is one of the things that makes crypto so appealing as a method of payment for real-life purchases. This payment has numerous benefits for both the merchant and the buyer.

A recent social media post by a prominent cryptocurrency figure has ignited speculation within the digital asset community. The post stated X, the social media platform owned by tech billionaire Elon Musk, is planning to launch a peer-to-peer payment system in 2024, similar to PayPal.

X’s payment initiative has been in the works for some time, and the company has already secured payment licenses in multiple U.S. states. Musk is known for his outspoken support of cryptocurrencies. He recently expanded the number of items that can be purchased with Dogecoin on Tesla’s website, and the announcement that X will soon integrate a payment system has excited the crypto community.

XRP Payments on X?

What makes the post more intriguing is the claim that an X employee revealed that XRP will be offered as a payment option on X’s payment service. The reason given for this is XRP’s meager transaction fees compared to other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum.

XRP is well known for its low fees and unrivaled transaction speed. Apple recently partnered with Ripple, leveraging this technology for its revolutionary Apple Pay technology for iOS users.

Potential Impact on XRP

While neither Musk nor X has officially confirmed this information, the potential implications for XRP are significant. If accurate, integrating XRP into a payment system used by millions of people could dramatically increase the cryptocurrency’s global reach and demand.

XRP has long been touted for its potential as a rapid and inexpensive method of transferring value across borders. XRP was designed to facilitate seamless cross-border payments with minimal transaction fees, and it has the potential to disrupt the traditional financial system by offering a more cost-effective and efficient alternative for remittances and international trade.

We are on twitter, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

— TimesTabloid (@TimesTabloid1) July 15, 2023

If X adopted XRP as a payment option, it would expose the cryptocurrency to a vast user base. This increased exposure could drive up demand for XRP, potentially leading to a rise in its price. Additionally, the integration would solidify XRP’s position as a viable payment solution and could encourage other businesses to adopt the cryptocurrency.

However, it is essential to approach this information cautiously. Rumors and speculation are common in the cryptocurrency market, and the veracity of the claims has not been confirmed.

Despite this, the possibility of such a partnership has undoubtedly captured the attention of the cryptocurrency community. Ripple has been expanding its global reach, and with countries like Thailand looking into XRP adoption, integration into X’s payment system seems like a deal Ripple would gladly accept.

Tangem, a crypto wallet provider, has partnered with Visa to launch Tangem Pay, a payment solution that allows users to spend their cryptocurrencies (like SHIB) directly at millions of Visa-accepting merchants worldwide, making it more convenient to use digital assets.

Bridging the Gap Between Crypto and Traditional Finance

Launching later this year, Tangem Pay represents a significant step forward in integrating cryptocurrencies into mainstream financial systems. Tangem CEO, Andrey Kurennykh, emphasizes the solution’s dual benefit, stating that Tangem Pay offers a two-in-one solution, combining the security and control of a self-custody wallet with the ease of use of a traditional debit card.

Read Also: Shiba Inu Releases Latest Update on SHIB Cold Wallets: Details

This initiative facilitates a bridge between the worlds of traditional finance and decentralized digital assets, empowering users to leverage the advantages of both ecosystems.

Tangem Pay will initially support Tether (USDT) on the Polygon network but plans to add more cryptocurrencies in the future. Tangem’s wallets already support thousands of digital assets across 59 blockchain networks, including SHIB, LEASH, and BONE on various networks like Ethereum, BSC, and Shibarium.

Beyond Shiba Inu: Tangem Pay Expands to Major Crypto Wallets

While the partnership with Shiba Inu initially brought Tangem into the spotlight, Tangem Pay’s reach extends beyond customized wallets. The company has ambitious plans to integrate this payment solution with other popular crypto wallets, including Metamask, Trust Wallet, and Ledger. This inclusivity ensures a broader impact within the cryptocurrency community.

Tangem’s Enduring Partnership with Shiba Inu (SHIB)

Established in 2021, Tangem has created a niche in the crypto custody solutions market with its innovative card-shaped hardware wallets. These wallets offer users the flexibility of seed-based or seedless activation for enhanced security.

Interestingly, a Tangem spokesperson revealed that a typical purchase includes three cards, contributing to the company’s impressive milestone of manufacturing over one million cards since its launch.

Tangem demonstrated its commitment to the Shiba Inu community by launching a special edition wallet in 2021, which resonated with the community and led to 5,000 pre-orders. The successful rollout saw the first batch shipped in July 2023.

Tangem further expanded its support for SHIB by integrating it as a payment method and manufacturing customized wallets for Shiba Inu’s partner, Bad Idea AI.

Tangem Pay’s upcoming launch will mark a significant development in cryptocurrency usability and real-world application. By enabling direct crypto payments at millions of merchants, Tangem Pay paves the way for a future where cryptocurrencies can be used as easily as traditional payment methods. This integration with Visa, a global payments leader, further legitimizes cryptocurrency use and boosts mainstream adoption potential.

Visa, a leading financial services provider, has scored a partnership with Wirex, a worldwide digital payments company headquartered in London for the long-term purpose of issuing crypto-enabled cards in several countries of the world.

This strategic and global partnership, sealed on Monday, makes the London-based company a member of Visa in Asia-Pacific (APAC) and the United Kingdom. As a bonafide member of Visa, Wirex is now well-positioned to pilot new blockchain drives and offer novel ingenious products to enhance the daily utilization of crypto by users.

It’s worth noting that Wirex has the majority of its customers based in the United Kingdom while its customer base is recording rapid growth in the Asia-Pacific region. “The agreement between Wirex and Visa will support further collaboration in major markets, including APAC, UK, Europe, and the USA,” part of the press release read.

Particularly, Visa will enable the cryptocurrency payment services provider, Wirex, to directly hand out crypto-powered debit and prepaid cards to its over 5 million customers in over 40 countries. Wirex believes that this partnership with Visa will fuel them to empower everyone to access the benefits of crypto.

“It’s great to strengthen our partnership with Visa, who have played an important role in allowing us to bridge the gap between the traditional and digital economies. Visa’s proven commitment to safety, security, and innovation will help us to continue developing a next-generation app and card,” Svyatoslav Garal, Regional Managing Director of Wirex APAC remarked.

However, the two companies are not working together for the first time. Per the update, Wirex became the first company in the world to develop a crypto-enabled card and this was in 2015. Since then, at over 80 million locations where Visa is accepted, users could buy, sell and spend multiple crypto assets using the card.

The regulatory framework legalizing the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment has just been approved by Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies.

Although the law has been approved, there is a need for enactment by the President of Brazil. The law gives legal status to payments for goods and services in form of cryptocurrencies. However, this does not grant them a legal tender status.

After the law comes into place, it will be up to the executive branch of the government to determine the body or office in charge of supervising the matter—only tokens categorized as securities fall under the jurisdictions of the CVM, Brazil’s equivalent to the SEC.

It should be noted that the law does not mention any dispositions regarding the issuance of a central bank digital currency; however, Brazil has already made significant progress in the matter.

One of the most important aspects of the regulation is the obligation for service providers to separate their funds from those of their clients as a way to prevent a situation similar to that of FTX, where the exchange used its clients’ funds for its own financial operations.

The law avoided a provision granting tax benefits to cryptocurrency miners and also recognized that digital currencies facilitated criminal operations because of their pseudonymous nature, calling for “closer monitoring” of the industry.

MoneyGram, the money transfer giant, has recently announced the launch of a new service to enable its customers to buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrency via its mobile app.

According to the report, the new feature added to the mobile app will give nearly all consumers in the United States and the District of Columbia the ability to trade and store cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC).

This new development is seen as means to bring real-world crypto and blockchain use cases to life. MoneyGram’s foray into the crypto ecosystem has brought about partnerships with Coinme, Stellar, and G-Coin. The company is also facilitating cross-border payments through USD Coin (USDC).

This recently added feature shows that MoneyGram is pushing hard to become a notable pioneer of cross-border payment innovation and blockchain-enabled settlement.

Reacting to the new development, MoneyGram Chairman and CEO, Alex Holmes, said:

“Cryptocurrencies are additive to everything we’re doing at MoneyGram. From dollars to euros to yen and so on, MoneyGram enables instant access to over 120 currencies around the globe, and we see crypto and digital currencies as another input and output option.

“As a next step in the evolution of MoneyGram, we’re thrilled to provide our customers with access to a trusted and easy-to-use platform to securely buy, sell and hold select cryptocurrencies.

“As consumer interest in digital currencies continues to accelerate, we are uniquely positioned to meet that demand and bridge the gap between blockchain and traditional financial services thanks to our global network, leading compliance solutions and strong culture of fintech innovation. We are excited for this next chapter in our journey.”

It should be noted that the ability to trade and store crypto using MoneyGram is made possible via its partnership with Coinme, a licensed crypto exchange, and API-driven crypto-as-a-service provider.

MoneyGram and Coinme sealed a partnership in 2021 to expand people’s access to crypto by creating thousands of new locations in the United States.

The firm is expected to increase the number of cryptocurrencies on its list in the future as it explores expansion to other markets in the coming year in line with crypto global regulations.

In a Tuesday statement at Google’s Cloud Next conference, Google, the tech juggernaut, announced that it will adopt cryptocurrency as a payment method for some of its customers in exchange for offering Cloud services.

Amit Zavery, one of Google Cloud’s top officers, equally mentioned that they are intending to participate and try out storing and managing clients’ cryptocurrency assets, using Coinbase Prime, a service designed by the leading exchange for that purpose.

As revealed by Google, the acceptance of crypto payments for Cloud services will be switched on in early 2023, courtesy of integration with the Coinbase Commerce service.

The Coinbase commerce service supports 10 digital currencies only, including Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Ethereum (ETH), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and Litecoin (LTC).

In addition, Amit Zavery, the Vice President and General Manager and Head of Platform at Google Cloud noted that the Google Cloud platform infrastructure service will initially accept cryptocurrency payments from a subset of customers in the Web3 world who would choose to pay for their services with any of the supported cryptocurrencies. He added that in the long run, Google will open up for more customers to make payments with cryptocurrency.

Courtesy of this collaboration, Coinbase, the largest United States crypto exchange by trading volume is also planning to move its data-related applications to Google from the Amazon Web Services cloud, which the exchange has been relying on for several years, Jim Migdal, Coinbase’s vice president of business development revealed.

Read Also: InvestAnswers Shows How BlackRock-Coinbase Partnership Could Send Bitcoin (BTC) To $773,000

It is worth noting that the terms of this strategy deal between Google and Coinbase were not disclosed. However, Coinbase’s Vice President of Business, Jim Migdal indicated that the exchange will earn a percentage of transactions that go through its payment portal just like every other similar partnership.

Therefore, it is a mutually beneficial collaboration as this development would likely position Google Cloud for greater adoption ahead of its competitors, especially from crypto-supported organizations.

Meanwhile, it is said that Google considered other platforms that facilitate crypto payments like PayPal but Amit Zavery asserted that Coinbase had the greatest capabilities.

Per a Tuesday announcement, Okse spend-to-earn debit card has extended its support to include Shiba Inu (SHIB). This will allow SHIB holders to spend their tokens in over 60 million businesses and online shops worldwide using the Okse card. Therefore, giving more utility to the popular meme token.

Users have to simply load the card with SHIB tokens and can then spend it anywhere Visa is accepted. Shiba Inu can also be used on Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay to make payments courtesy of its integration into the Okse virtual crypto card.

Part of the update said, “Welcome SHIB on the BNB Chain to OKSE!
It is worth noting that the Okse Visa card is a virtual card that makes crypto as spendable as the money in one’s bank. With the crypto card, there are no hidden fees while market exchange rates and all transactions are on-chain and transparent.

Similarly, Shiba Inu (SHIB) was recently supported on Binance Card alongside 13 other crypto assets. Following a strategic partnership sealed between the prominent multinational financial services corporation, Mastercard and Binance, a crypto prepaid card has been rolled out in Argentina to facilitate everyday tangible purchases using cryptocurrencies like Shiba Inu (SHIB).

Consequently, SHIB can be used to purchase goods both in-store and online, at over 90 million Mastercard merchants worldwide.

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum (ETH) has highlighted the benefits associated with cryptocurrency payments and how the technology has positively impacted both domestic and international businesses as well as organizations.

In a Twitter comment made by the outspoken Ethereum co-founder on Thursday, he pointed out that the capacity of cryptocurrency as a payment method is often underestimated by some.

In furtherance, Vitalik Buterin mentioned that crypto payments are more effective, advantageous, and improved than the traditional payment method.

On this premise, he added that the emergence of crypto payments is a great gain for enterprises. This is so because this financial technology eliminates location barriers as businesses that support crypto payments can gain patronage from anyone in the world, regardless of locality.

Read Also: Vitalik Buterin Speaks on What Ethereum (ETH) and Crypto Should Become in the Next 10 Years

In the words of Vitalik Buterin, “people continue to underrate how often cryptocurrency payments are superior not even because of censorship resistance but just because they’re so much more convenient. Big boost to international business and charity, and sometimes even payments within countries.”

“Though I do think that the adoption and integrations that make crypto actually usable for semi-mainstream international payments ultimately depend on its credible neutrality (which censorship resistance is a part of),” he added.

Unlike the conventional payment method where financial institutions like banks act as middlemen and operations are controlled by them, crypto payments are facilitated over a decentralized network with no middleman needed. More so, transaction speed is far greater with cryptocurrency than its counterparty.

However, Vitalik Buterin further noted that he is not ruling out the importance of censorship resistance. “I never said anything dismissing the importance of censorship resistance, I just… pointed out my personal experience that it’s a much better payment rail than the actually available present-day alternatives,” he wrote in response to a certain Twitter user.

Worthy of note is that several businesses and financial institutions are embracing digital assets as a payment method.

Major banks around the world are also partnering with crypto solution companies offering cross-border payment services to enable their customers to send money across borders in a seamless manner and with low charges.

Meanwhile, the co-founder of the largest smart contract platform, Ethereum, which is set to transition to proof-of-stake (PoS) earlier revealed his position on the likelihood of cryptocurrency replacing traditional currencies in the future.

According to him, he does not expect crypto to completely take over the financial world or erase traditional currencies.
