Shark Tank Star Kevin O’Leary Predicts What Would Ignite $100k–$300k Bitcoin Price

Kevin O’Leary, Shark Tank star and billionaire investor, has predicted what would happen before Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency by market cap, could skyrocket to prices above $100,000.

In a new Stansberry Research interview, the billionaire pointed out that regulatory clarity is a vital catalyst for Bitcoin’s price growth. He said that the digital asset could appreciate by several multiples from current prices once institutional investors receive regulatory backing to buy crypto assets.

According to the billionaire entrepreneur, institutional investors need regulatory compliance and need to meet Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards before they can invest in Bitcoin and other digital currencies.

He then concluded that it would have been easier for institutional investors to buy Bitcoin if it’s categorized as software.

Kevin O’Leary noted:

“At some point in the next two to three years, the US regulator is going to rule on cryptocurrencies. And they will rule first on stablecoins and Bitcoin itself… And the very large assets by market cap.

“As soon as that happens, if I’m running a sovereign fund or a pension plan I’m going to allocate to it probably one to three percent. And I want to long Bitcoin when that happens.

“You want to talk about Bitcoin going to $100,000, $200,000 $300,000, it’s going to be when institutions can finally buy it…

“I can tell you with certainty right now because I service sovereign wealth funds and pension plans and in the indexing business. For all of the hype around Bitcoin, none of those institutions own a single coin.

“And they are not going to until their compliance departments allow for the ESG mandates to be ‘check the box on that and of course be compliant on the asset class itself. But when they do get that go-ahead, the price of the coin is going to appreciate dramatically…

“If you think about Bitcoin being software, which is what it is, and these institutions own Microsoft, they own Google. That’s all software too.

“So it’s very easy for them to get their heads around it as soon as it’s compliant. They will buy one to three percent. And that’s when the price is going to appreciate. And I think that’s going to happen in the next two to three years.”

Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary Explains Why He’s Bullish on Solana and Polygon and Hedera

Kevin O’Leary, a celebrity investor, who is also known as Mr. Wonderful on ABC TV series Shark Tank, has recently shared the reason for being bullish on Solana (SOL), Polygon (MATIC), and Hedera (HBAR).

In a new interview with the stern Bitcoin maximalist Anthony Pompliano on The Business Show, O’Leary stated that cryptocurrency has advanced into software rather than an alternative form of money.

As recounted by the celebrity investor, he screens crypto projects and traditional software companies in almost the same way. He said he observes coins and their vision. He then used Polygon to explain his approach to investing in crypto projects.

Kevin O’Leary noted:

“If I want to invest in Polygon, I want to meet the engineering team, which I did in Dubai. I met the team, heard the vision of what they’re doing, looked at the economic reality at the outcome, the potential of it... First is team. If I check the box on team – smart guys, good engineers, good strategy, good group – I’m interested...

“Here’s the second test. What economic value are they creating? In the case of Polygon, aggregating transactions to reduce gas fees on Ethereum is a smart idea. You have an economic reason to pursue that. You save money. Transaction fees are less. I think the potential of that is large.”

As for Solana (SOL) and its developers, Kevin O’Leary said it’s a project seeking a unique solution:

“They’re trying to solve problems a different way to speed everything up. Check the box. Who’s working on that? [FTX exchange head] Sam Bankman-Fried and his team. Why wouldn’t you bet that horse?”

He also has this to say about Hedera (HBAR) and the team behind its advancement:

“Great team, good engineers. What’s the economic premise that would keep that growing? Boeing wants a quasi-centralized/decentralized platform, they want the best of both worlds. HBAR can deliver that, check the box there.”

Kevin O’Leary, a celebrity investor, who is also known as Mr. Wonderful on ABC TV series Shark Tank, has highlighted why he’s more bullish on Ethereum (ETH) than the flagship cryptocurrency, Bitcoin (BTC).

The cryptocurrency industry, led by Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), continues to cause the expected disruption in the financial world with the increase in interest globally, especially among celebrities.

Although the crypto industry has faced and still facing challenges in relation to global adoption, many pundits believe that it has come to stay.

If Bitcoin Is Sound Money, Ethereum Is Ultra Sound Money

As earlier mentioned, many celebrities, such as Mark Cuban, who was once skeptical of cryptocurrency use cases, are now sternly touting the nascent market on a daily basis.

Kevin O’Leary, who is known for his role as Mr. Wonderful on ABC TV series Shark Tank, has been more bullish on Ethereum than Bitcoin. For instance, on 24th December 2020, when he was told by Scott Wapner on CNBC’s Squawk Box that Mark Cuban is now a stern supporter of Bitcoin, Kevin O’Leary said:

“You know, I know Mark quite well. He also was quoted saying he thinks bananas are a bigger common currency, and he’s probably right. I want to go to Pomp’s issue about this idea that you’re protecting your capital by buying Bitcoin…

“Last March, if you owned Bitcoin you got slaughtered, and you had a lot more volatility than the S&P. My whole point is there’s a lot of interesting ideas here…

This concept of a digital currency is one that would work, and my whole point is for all of us, including you Scott, who monitor and work within the financial services multi-trillion-dollar global industry, is this a nothing burger? It’s not even a single cell amoeba. If you took all of the market caps, Bitcoin is totally irrelevant…

“And no institutional or sovereign fund investor I’ve ever talked to has said to me go index all the cryptocurrencies for me, and the reason they don’t want to own that is they fear the regulator. And watch what happens one day and I’m waiting for this one.

I’m waiting for the day that one of these regulators comes down hard on Bitcoin. Grown men are going to weep when that happens. You’ll never see a loss of capital like that ever in your life. It’ll be brutal.”
