Dogecoin Creator Reveals Who Wrote Most of DOGE Code, As Elon Musk Slams Jackson Palmer for Zero Contribution

Billy Markus, the creator of Dogecoin (DOGE), the largest dog-themed meme token, has jokingly teased about who wrote most of the Dogecoin code.

In a tweet a couple of hours ago, Markus wrote, “Q: who wrote most of the dogecoin code? A: bitcoin devs.”

Explaining his statement, Markus said, “They (Bitcoin devs) didn’t make dogecoin, but dogecoin is mostly bitcoin code.”

Elon Musk Slams Dogecoin co-founder Jackson Palmer

Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus founded Dogecoin in 2013. Dogecoin is a proof-of-work (PoW) crypto that was created as a joke based on a popular meme portraying a Shiba Inu, a Japanese breed of dog.

This comes as Tesla CEO Elon Musk intensified his criticism of Dogecoin co-founder Jackson Palmer, saying that the Australian software developer never wrote a single line of Dogecoin code.

Elon Musk wrote, “My kids wrote better code when they were 12 than the nonsense script Jackson sent me. Like I said, if it’s so great, he should share it with the world and make everyone’s experience with Twitter better. If he does, you will see what I mean. Jackson Palmer is a tool… And Palmer always forgets to mention that he never wrote a single line of Dogecoin code.”

Palmer responded with a now-deleted tweet that referred to a Github page of his contributions. Fellow co-founder Billy Markus, attempting to calm heightened emotions, tweeted that neither he nor Palmer contributed much to the project, which was originally supposed to be a joke.

Markus humorously stated, “The people after us did exponentially more than either Jackson or I did on the codebase. I think I wrote like 20 lines of code and copied the rest.”

While Musk continues to slam Palmer for his purported arrogance, Markus keeps getting the billionaire’s praise for being humble:

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has admired the wisdom of Billy Markus, the Dogecoin co-founder while reacting to one of his recent tweets based on politics.

Markus, who is known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto on Twitter, is accustomed to not holding back his opinion when it comes to contributing to issues related to the crypto industry. The same applies to political matters, which is why Jeff Bezos recently admired his wisdom.

Markus’s Recent Comment on Politics Caught Jeff Bezos’s Attention

In a recent tweet, Dogecoin founder Billy Markus shared ways to deal with the two major political parties in the United States, which caught the attention of Amazon’s Jeff Bezos.

According to Markus, the simplest way to turn moderates into either Democrats or Republics is for either side to act ill-mannered towards the moderates.

Although he didn’t reveal which of the political circles he belongs to, the tweet sounded like a clever post from someone that could be termed a shitposter.

Shibetoshi Nakamoto tweeted, “how to create more democrats: – be republican – act like an asshole to moderates. how to create more republicans: – be democrat – act like an asshole to moderates protip: maybe align your actions with your goals.”

Amazon Founder Lauds Marcus’s Cleverness

In response to the viral tweet, Bezos said Marcus could see himself as a shitposter, but he’s rather a wise poster.

Amazon founder’s response to Shibetoshi Nakamoto’s view made the Dogecoin community insinuate that he has been following Marcus’s views on Twitter for some time. Some members also believe that Bezos is likely a DOGE admirer.

The Lost Leaf, a US-based drinks shop, is the next food-related business to incorporate the largest meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) in its business as a payment option after Burger King and MrBeast Burger showcased an interest in accepting the cryptocurrency.

The new development was announced on 27th January 2022 via The Lost Leaf’s official Twitter handle. According to the report, customers are to just scan the QR code at the bar to make payments from their respective crypto wallets.

The Lost Leaf tweeted, “We will now accept Dogecoin $DOGE for payments! Much Beer! Just scan the qrcode at the bar to pay with your crypto wallet. 1st 3 people gets a Lost Leaf shirt with NXOEED.ETH design! Do only good everyday!”

In the wake of McDonald’s subtle refusal to Elon Musk’s request, Shibetoshi Nakamoto dished out tips to fans who want companies to incorporate Dogecoin (DOGE) as a payment option.

Dogecoin co-founder wrote, “Remember, if you want companies to accept dogecoin: – be cool! People don’t listen to jerks – show them why it is beneficial for them! Make win-win scenarios. Show how engaged and cool the community is – don’t act entitled or angry! No one likes that. Be smart #dogefam.”

Burger King and MrBeast Burger Show Interest in Accepting DOGE

When Elon Musk promised to eat a Happy Meal on television if McDonald’s started to take DOGE, the company respectfully declined. But the Tesla CEO’s tweet received backing from Burger King’s official Twitter page.

The latter responded with a cryptic message that the Doge community interpreted for interest in their favorite crypto.

Similarly, MrBeast Burger appeared to be interested in accepting Dogecoin after Elon Musk’s recent tweet addressed to McDonald’s. The fast-food company had tweeted: ‘‘@elonmusk if you retweet this we will work on accepting Dogecoin.”

Billy Markus retweeted MrBeast Burger’s message instead of Elon Musk while stating that the DogeArmy is strong enough to get some heavy engagement instead. Dogecoin users continue to keep their fingers crossed on the latest developments surrounding MrBeast burger and BurgerKing’s acceptance.

Elon Musk Supports Dogecoin Co-Founder in His Quest to Make DOGE Users Run Their Own Nodes

Elon Musk, the CEO of electric car company, Tesla, has taken to Twitter to support the Dogecoin co-founder, Billy Markus, in his quest to make DOGE users run their own nodes.

In a series of tweets on 13th October, which caught Elon Musk’s attention, Markus explained the importance of nodes in relation to validating transactions and keeping the blockchain up to date.

In order to lower transaction fees, in the tweet, Markus urges the community to download 1.14.4 Dogecoin upgrade.

Billy Markus noted:

“I wanted to write something slightly more nuanced about Dogecoin Nodes, so bear with me. Nodes are important. They keep the network moving, validate transactions, and keep the blockchain up to date. It’s good to update to 1.14.4 which will allow for lower transaction fees.

“That being said, the push to get everyone to run their own nodes is simplistic. By far, the most important thing is for mining pools and miners to update to 1.14.4 – miners are who decides which transactions are on the blocks, and so will reject low fee txs unless updating.

“If no one new made a node and all the existing mining pools updated to 1.14.4, that would be enough for a successful release. In terms of running your own node, that’s great if you want to run a dedicated node that you will always keep up to date. It’s also great to learn more.

“However, running a node on your laptop that gets turned and off is more for you and your learning than it is for the network. You can think of it like torrenting – are you spending more output uploading or downloading? If more downloading, you’re not really helping the network.

“And that’s fine – not everyone needs to help the network. But if people are wondering why I’m not screaming “everyone run a node” at the top of my lungs constantly, it’s because that isn’t really the thing that’s needed short term. What’s needed is for mining pools to update.

“tl;dr run a node if you want, or not. If you want to contribute to helping the network, you will need to be dedicated to running a full, reliable node, using significant bandwidth, and keeping it up to date. But for 1.14.4’s success, existing node operators need to update.”
