]]> The team behind Xumm has issued a critical warning to Samsung users, specifically those with Samsung Galaxy S21 devices. Xumm announced on X that Samsung’s newest operating system update, released on October 12, opens Xumm wallet users to substantial risk in terms of data security.

The Samsung Update Problem

Xumm is a non-custodial wallet for the XRP Ledger (XRPL) that allows users to interact with the XRP Ledger and 3rd party tools while safeguarding their keys. The update potentially breaks Xumm wallet’s secure data store, breaking the app’s main function and preventing it from opening. For anyone who hasn’t installed the update, Xumm advises users to be sure that they have their secret keys before installing the update.

Xumm recommends that users with their secret key uninstall Xumm, install the update, and reinstall the application. Then they can import their account using the secret key.

Users with Xumm Tangem cards and those with a Written Down Secret (Numbers) can re-import them. However, for users who are unsure about the status of their accounts or secret keys, Xumm suggests rekeying their accounts before proceeding with the download and installation of the Samsung software update.

Xumm strongly encourages users facing problems to use the Xumm Support xApp within the application. The support team emphatically warns against relying on social media channels for support, primarily due to the proliferation of counterfeit support accounts on X trying to scam unsuspecting users.

Xumm also clarifies that this is not a security breach on their end, and users’ wallets have not been tampered with. The problem comes from the new Samsung update.

The Community’s Response

One user called for Samsung to explain how this happened, and another stated that his Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra had no problems after the update. They speculated that this could have been caused by a more specific problem and not just the update. However, they commended Xumm for giving its users a heads-up.

One user added that he didn’t have any problems with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, another stated that he had the same issue on that phone.

Xumm was emphatic that this was not a breach. However, the issue does not occur on every phone with the update installed, so this might be bigger than just installing an update.

Meanwhile, a crypto enthusiast recently lost 17,000 XRP on her ledger wallet. Although Xumm hasn’t been hacked, it is important for users to follow instructions and only seek help from official help channels like the Xumm xApp.

]]> An effort to plant different species of trees native to areas across different parts of Madagascar, Indonesia, Nepal, Kenya, Senegal, and Haiti launched by Cardano has attained its initial goal of 1 million trees. This was reported a couple of hours ago by Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation.

According to Gregaard in a series of tweets, the initiative is now fully funded and Cardano Community is the strength behind the milestone. He added that Cardano’s quest to become a leader in climate impact is now becoming a reality with this achievement.

Frederik Gregaard noted:

“What an achievement! The #CardanoForest is 100% funded, we’ve reached the 1 million trees milestone. The success of this first Cardano Global Impact Challenge for the Cardano Ecosystem truly shows the power of our community.

“We are striving to position Cardano as a leader in climate impact and this is only possible because of the Global Cardano Community; our incredible team here at Cardano Foundation; the industry group, Climate Neutral Cardano; and our partnership with Veritree.

“Together we all share a mission to see Cardano deliver as a blockchain for good.

Samsung’s Land Restoration Efforts to Involve Cardano Blockchain

It can be recalled that this initiative has been adopted by Samsung America via a partnership with Cardano’s partner, Veritree, making the tech giant get exposure to Cardano.

Veritree’s reforestation verification records will be stored on the Cardano blockchain. The technology makes it possible to verify data from planting sites and link every individual donation to the area of land it helped to restore.

Samsung’s land restoration efforts plan to plant 2 million trees by the first quarter of 2022.

As explained by Cardano Foundation, Samsung Electronics America aims to tackle climate change by planting two million mangrove trees in Madagascar.

Cardano Foundation tweeted, “Another great initiative powered by the Cardano blockchain. @SamsungUS to plant 2 million trees in Madagascar by the end of the first quarter of 2022 in partnership with Veritree, a Cardano blockchain-based climate solutions platform.”

According to the report, the new partnership between Samsung and Veritree was announced during the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas.

Samsung Interacts With Charles Hoskinson on Twitter

A couple of hours ago, Charles Hoskinson, the creator of Cardano shared a photo of himself showing that he was present at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas, where the partnership was officially announced.

The photo gained vast reactions from the crypto community members, including Samsung Electronics America, which could be termed as the confirmation of a new relationship with Hoskinson and Cardano.

Samsung US tweeted, “Hope you have some fun this week!”

As further explained by Cardano Foundation in a tweet, the American subsidiary of the South Korean behemoth aims to tackle climate change by planting two million mangrove trees in Madagascar.
