What Coindesk’s Data Shows

The Coindesk chart measures percentage change from each token’s late 2017 or early 2018 peak to its latest price in October 2026. BNB leads all assets on the list with a gain of +2,818% above its prior peak. Dogecoin follows at +322%, and Bitcoin sits at +314%.

Ethereum has gained +66%, while Zcash is up 38%. Tron sits just 4.2% below its former high. XRP sits at the bottom of the chart, still 62.5% below its January 2018 peak. At the time of the chart, XRP traded at $1.33.

The All-time High Debate

A separate question surrounds XRP’s actual all-time high. Some have cited $3.84 as the peak reached in 2018. Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has debunked that figure. According to Schwartz, XRP’s true all-time high is $3.65, reached in July 2025.

Regardless of which figure is accurate, XRP crossed $3 in early 2018. The current price of $1.33 puts XRP well below both figures.

Years of Development With the Same Price Problem

Since 2018, XRP has accumulated years of Ripple partnerships and institutional adoption. Price predictions from analysts and community members have been frequent. None of that activity has translated into a price above previous highs.

Bitcoin and Ethereum have both surpassed their 2018 peaks by significant margins. Experts often predict that XRP will outperform both assets, but it hasn’t shown the same positive performance.

The Community Reacts

One community member argued that Bitcoin and Ethereum have never faced the kind of legal scrutiny that XRP has. He suggested that the SEC lawsuit suppressed XRP’s price. ]]> After 11 years in crypto, Polymarket enthusiast Car says he has managed to keep roughly $244,000 worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum secure on his Ledger despite leaving the device largely untouched. His experience has led him to question why some users report losing substantial crypto holdings remotely even when they claim they did not actively use their wallets.

Car explained on X that he bought his Ledger directly from the official website, not from a secondary seller. He said he keeps the device in a drawer and updates it periodically through the official Ledger application.

According to Car, his approach remains simple. He only uses the device to store Bitcoin and some Ethereum, transfer additional Bitcoin to the wallet, and hold his assets. He said he does not interact with contracts, tokens, or other applications through the device.

Car Says He Never Stored His Seed Phrase Digitally

Car also described how he handles his wallet’s recovery phrase. He said he has never entered his seed phrase anywhere other than the Ledger itself and keeps a paper backup in a secure physical location.

He questioned why his funds remain intact while other crypto users have reported having their wallets drained despite claiming that they did little or nothing with their devices.

“Somehow I still have all my BTC (and ETH),” Car wrote, adding that he does not understand why some users with significant balances experience remote wallet losses while his holdings remain secure.

His comments focused heavily on his limited interaction with the device. By avoiding contracts, tokens, and other wallet-related activities, Car said he has maintained a straightforward storage setup centered on Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Debate Emerges Over Hardware Wallets and Exchanges

The comments also produced a debate about whether users should trust hardware wallets or rely on centralized exchanges.

E DAN questioned why anyone would trust Ledger, arguing that users are still storing their crypto on a device created by another company. PaleNiimbus responded by asking what the alternative would be, pointing out that exchanges are also created by third parties and retain custody of users’ assets.

E DAN later acknowledged the point but maintained that keeping funds on a major exchange could feel safer to some users. He argued that losing crypto on an exchange such as Binance could potentially allow a customer to use KYC information to recover access. At the same time, hardware wallets and decentralized applications may appear more complicated to less technically experienced users.

Another commenter, Triple_G, offered a different explanation for reports of Ledger-related losses. He claimed that people who were hacked had purchased their devices from secondary dealers and insisted that “it’s not the Ledger.”

Car’s experience therefore centers on a simple custody routine: buying directly from the manufacturer, keeping the device offline when not in use, protecting the recovery phrase, and limiting wallet interactions. His account does not establish that any storage method is completely risk-free, but it illustrates how his personal approach has kept his Bitcoin and Ethereum holdings intact.

]]> Crypto investor Ted (@TedPillows) has drawn attention to one of the more remarkable individual trades in recent Ethereum history. For this trade, the investor made 8,750x on his initial investment.

The data, pulled from Arkham Intelligence, shows a wallet address sending 13,320 ETH to a Coinbase deposit address approximately 7 hours before the post. The transfer carried a value of $36.34 million.

The transfer history on this wallet tells a longer story. 6 months earlier, the same address sent 15,000 ETH to the same Coinbase deposit, valued at $30.97 million. Two smaller transfers of 2 ETH ($4,130) and 0.1 ETH ($205.27) followed shortly after. A year earlier, the wallet received 1.1 ETH from a Coinbase deposit.

The Scale of the Gain

The entry price on this position was $0.31 per ETH. The asset has not traded at that level since 2015. At the time of the most recent sale, ETH was trading at roughly $2,727. That puts the return at approximately 8,750x on investment. The 13,320 ETH sold in the highlighted transaction alone generated $36.34 million, and showed how massive long-term investments can be.

One commenter noted that the wallet sold at a $1,137 average across 170,000 ETH, covering nearly the entire ICO stack, calling it a “full exit, 3,655x.” The cost basis on approximately 13,400 ETH was around $4,150 total at $0.31 per token.

How the Community Read the Trade

Several observers noted the wallet’s technical behavior in the days surrounding the exit. One account explained that the seller first sent a 10 ETH test transfer to the Coinbase deposit at 03:02Z, then moved 13,320 ETH at 03:08Z. Four addresses resembling the destination were used as decoys in between. The wallet exited with 1,484 ETH remaining.

Conviction and Timing

Some responses focused on the conviction required to hold through multiple market cycles without selling. One commenter noted the buyer purchased at $0.31 and held through everything, calling him a time traveler rather than a whale.

Others addressed the exit timing. One account observed that selling into the first weekly close above $2,700 in nine months represented the most rational trade available at that moment, given the entry price and current market structure. Ethereum’s social sentiment has dropped significantly because of its poor performance, and this trader took the first good opportunity to exit.

]]> Crypto analyst Ali Charts has identified potential bull market targets for Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana based on technical patterns across their monthly charts.

His analysis places Bitcoin at $190,000, Ethereum at $8,800, XRP at $31.87, and Solana at $2,744 if each asset clears the key resistance levels that Ali Charts identified. However, the analyst stressed that each projection requires a confirmed breakout before the targets can come into focus.

Bitcoin Targets $190,000

Ali Charts said in his X post that Bitcoin has traded within a rising channel for the past two years. He identified Bitcoin’s previous high near $125,000 as the first major level that traders should monitor.

According to his analysis, Bitcoin could target the channel’s upper boundary near $190,000 if it decisively breaks above $125,000. The analyst described the $190,000 level as a potential cycle target based on the channel structure.

Bitcoin therefore needs to clear its previous high before the higher projection becomes relevant. Ali Charts did not present $190,000 as a guaranteed price level. Instead, he linked the target directly to a successful breakout above the channel’s key resistance.

Ethereum Needs to Break $5,000

Ali Charts also examined Ethereum’s monthly chart and identified a channel that extends back more than five years. He placed the channel’s upper boundary near $5,000.

The analyst said Ethereum could move toward $8,800 if it breaks above the $5,000 level. His projection uses the long-term channel to establish the potential target, while $5,000 is the key level that Ethereum must overcome first.

The setup therefore depends on a monthly breakout above the channel boundary. Until Ethereum clears that level, Ali Charts’ $8,800 projection remains a potential cycle target rather than a confirmed price objective.

XRP Could Target $31.87

For XRP, Ali Charts identified an ascending triangle on the monthly chart. He placed resistance near $3.66 and said XRP needs a monthly close above that level to confirm the breakout.

A confirmed move above $3.66 could then put the pattern’s projected target near $31.87 into focus. Ali Charts linked the target directly to the ascending triangle formation and the confirmed breakout.

The $3.66 resistance level therefore represents the key condition in his XRP analysis. XRP must first secure a monthly close above that area before the $31.87 projection becomes technically relevant.

Solana Setup Points to $2,744

Ali Charts identified a cup-and-handle formation on Solana’s monthly chart. He placed the neckline near $295 and said a monthly close above that level would strengthen the bullish setup.

According to his analysis, Solana could target approximately $2,744 after breaking above the neckline. The analyst based the projection on the pattern’s measured move and treated the level as a potential cycle target.

Ali Charts emphasized that all four projections require breakouts first. Bitcoin needs to clear $125,000, Ethereum needs to break above $5,000, XRP needs a monthly close above $3.66, and Solana needs a monthly close above $295 before their respective technical targets come into focus.

The XRP Trade That Built the Reputation

Amonyx treated the return as significant enough to alert his own audience immediately. Royal Kane’s reputation came largely from one trade. He publicly bought XRP at $0.3 and sold at $3, a 10x return that played out in full view of his then-500,000 followers.

That single call cemented his standing in the crypto community. Amonyx highlighted it, noting it as one of the key reasons to “keep a close eye on him.”

The BTC Short and the Fallout

Royal Kane’s record extended beyond XRP. He called a BTC short at $125,700, and the asset dropped sharply after. In his own post, he confirmed the trade. Bitcoin peaked above $126,000 in early October, but the flash crash on October 10pulled the asset and the broader market down significantly.

He also claimed an ETH buy call at $1,600 in April 2025, with the asset reaching $5,000 within months. Despite the track record, his original account did not survive. Amonyx noted he “was later exposed as an insider and forced to delete an account with over 500k followers.” Royal Kane himself did not address the circumstances directly in his reintroduction post.

The Community’s Reaction

Responses to Amonyx’s post were quick. Users followed Royal Kane immediately after seeing the callout. Some saw it as a lucky moment, while someone with so much knowledge of the crypto space could provide some value.

Amonyx’s post reads more like a warning for XRP holders. Calling Royal Kane an insider suggests he made those trades and profited off information not available to the public. Those actions suggest prioritization of self-interest, which may harm the community and the perception of cryptocurrencies in the long term.

However, the reaction suggests Royal Kane’s original reputation still carries weight with a portion of the community. Calling an asset’s peak and taking massive profits is rare, and many community members will be watching Royal Kane’s next moves.

]]> XRP leads Bitcoin and Ethereum in trading volume on South Korea’s Upbit exchange, with Xaif Crypto reporting more than $200 million in 24-hour activity.

The figures show XRP trading on one of South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, while additional data from the analyst shows strong activity across monthly and yearly periods.

“XRP IS DOMINATING UPBIT,” Xaif Crypto tweeted. The analyst cited $203.9 million in 24-hour XRP volume as the cryptocurrency reached 2,020 KRW. Bitcoin recorded $143 million, while Ethereum posted $119 million over the same period.

“Korea is trading XRP harder than Bitcoin and Ethereum,” Xaif Crypto added.

The attached data shows similarly strong XRP activity. The snapshot recorded approximately $215.1 million in daily XRP trading value, compared with $165 million for Bitcoin and $120.4 million for Ethereum.

XRP Posts Strong Monthly And Yearly Figures

The Upbit data also shows that XRP has maintained significant trading activity across longer periods. XRP recorded approximately $4.84 billion in monthly trading value. Bitcoin reached about $2.54 billion, while Ethereum recorded approximately $1.99 billion.

The yearly figures show another substantial difference. XRP generated approximately $68.89 billion in trading value during the measured period. Bitcoin recorded about $54.16 billion, while Ethereum reached roughly $42.33 billion.

The same snapshot placed XRP’s closing price at 2,027 KRW, which equated to approximately $1.46 based on the displayed exchange rate.

ChaCha referenced the longer-term figures in a comment beneath Xaif Crypto’s post. “That’s not new news! Daily, Monthly, and Yearly! They hold over 6.4B #1 exchange,” ChaCha wrote while sharing an image of Upbit’s XRP trading data.

Macro Bombastic also commented on XRP’s activity in South Korea, writing, “Korea always loves XRP, volume there hits different tbh.”

Upbit Moves 11 Million XRP

Xaif Crypto also reported another development involving XRP held on Upbit. In a separate post, the analyst said Upbit moved 11 million XRP worth $16 million to a newly created wallet.

The wallet then distributed XRP to deposit addresses linked to Binance, Bybit and Bitget. Xaif Crypto said the wallet’s balance subsequently fell to approximately 275,000 XRP.

These transfers show XRP moving from fresh wallet addresses associated with several major cryptocurrency exchanges. The transactions therefore provide additional data on XRP movements connected to the broader exchange market.

Ripple Envoy also commented on the trading figures, saying, “That’s a serious signal from Korea 🇰🇷 XRP isn’t just being held there; it’s being actively traded.”

Ripple Envoy then asked, “Is Korea seeing something the rest of the market hasn’t?”

Xaif Crypto’s posts therefore center on two developments: XRP’s higher trading volume than Bitcoin and Ethereum on Upbit and the movement of 11 million XRP toward major exchange deposit addresses.

XRP Appears Alongside Major Digital Assets

BankXRP wrote on X that the Federal Register had “just named XRP next to Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana” as a qualifying digital commodity for trust share listings.

The August 3, 2026 Federal Register notice concerns a Cboe BZX Exchange proposal involving its rules for Commodity-Based Trust Shares. The document cites Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, and XRP as examples of eligible assets under the exchange’s generic listing standards.

The notice explains that these assets qualify under the relevant standards because each has a qualifying futures market and an exchange-traded fund providing at least 40% economic exposure. This makes the wording more specific than a general declaration that the four assets have received identical regulatory classifications.

For XRP, the reference is nevertheless notable because the asset appears explicitly alongside Bitcoin, Ether and Solana in the same discussion concerning eligibility for regulated trust structures.

The Classification Does Not Approve an XRP ETF

The distinction between eligibility and approval remains important.

The Federal Register notice does not approve a new XRP ETF. Instead, it addresses proposed changes to the rules governing Commodity-Based Trust Shares and the conditions under which assets can satisfy the applicable listing standards.

The notice also discusses a proposed 15% buffer that could allow certain digital commodities that do not otherwise satisfy the generic requirements to be included under specified conditions. The existing eligibility language and the proposed changes therefore concern the structure of regulated investment products rather than establishing a blanket regulatory classification for XRP.

This also means the language should not be presented as an SEC ruling declaring XRP a security or non-security in every circumstance. The eligibility requirements for a particular trust product are a separate regulatory issue.

Actual XRP Trust Filings Would Be More Significant

The Federal Register reference could become more consequential if issuers use the eligibility standards in future XRP-related trust filings and those products progress through the regulatory process.

BankXRP’s post focuses on the fact that XRP now appears alongside Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana in the Federal Register’s discussion of assets that satisfy the relevant eligibility requirements. That provides a concrete regulatory reference for discussions about XRP’s potential use in regulated investment products.

However, investors should distinguish this development from an actual product approval. A Federal Register notice establishing or discussing listing requirements does not automatically create an XRP ETF or guarantee a future XRP trust will receive approval.

The development remains relevant because it shows XRP appearing explicitly within the regulatory requirements governing Commodity-Based Trust Shares. Future filings and regulatory decisions will determine how that eligibility translates into actual investment products.

]]> Crypto analyst Xaif (@Xaif_Crypto) recently highlighted a new SEC filing with significant detail about a digital asset treasury company’s accumulation strategy. The filing outlines plans to acquire a range of cryptocurrencies, including XRP, BTC, ETH, and SOL.

It also names several ISO-20022-compliant assets, specifically XLM, ADA, HBAR, ALGO, QNT, and IOTA, including Meme coins such as DOGE, SHIB, BONE, and LUNC.

The filing states the company intends to acquire assets it determines are not securities, applying a facts-and-circumstances analysis informed by applicable law and regulatory guidance, including the Howey Test. It also references the SEC and CFTC’s March 17, 2026 release on applying federal securities laws to crypto assets and transactions, which classified XRP as a commodity.

The Regulatory Posture

The company takes regulatory compliance seriously in its stated approach. It plans to consult external legal counsel, maintain internal compliance policies, and continuously monitor for new guidance, rulemaking, enforcement actions, and judicial decisions. Any significant regulatory announcement or court ruling that affects an asset’s classification will trigger a reevaluation of that asset’s status.

The company also states it pursues a buy-and-hold strategy. It does not plan to trade for short-term gains. It intends to periodically rebalance its digital assets portfolio.

Institutional Acquisition and the Cost Comparison

One of the more concrete disclosures involves how the company plans to acquire its assets. All digital asset acquisitions will occur through institutional-grade exchange accounts, not retail exchanges. The filing argues this gives the company “a substantial advantage in acquiring digital assets over individual retail purchasers.”

To support this, the filing describes a direct comparison test conducted in October 2025. An affiliate of the Manager compared a Coinbase Prime institutional account against a Coinbase retail account. Both accounts attempted to purchase approximately $5,000 of XRP.

The total cost of the purchase through the retail account was approximately 10x larger than through the Coinbase Prime account. The filing attributes this to a lower bid/ask spread and lower commission on the institutional side.

Custody and Storage

The filing also addresses how the company intends to store its assets. It plans to use insured institutional custody arrangements and will limit the amount held in hot wallets to what is actively waiting to be bought or sold. For self-custody situations, the company says it will use a cold wallet accessible only via a ledger device and passcode.

Xaif’s post brought this filing to wider attention among retail XRP holders, many of whom see institutional accumulation strategies as a meaningful signal for the asset’s trajectory.

]]> Crypto analyst JD (@jaydee_757) has identified a multi-year technical pattern on the XRP/ETH trading pair that deserves serious attention.

The chart he shared covers weekly price action on Kraken going back to 2020. The structure forming across that entire period is a falling wedge, one of the most recognized bullish continuation patterns in technical analysis.

The current price sits at 0.0005708 ETH per XRP. That number alone tells part of the story. XRP has been losing ground against ETH for a long time, but the chart suggests that compression may be nearing its end.

Analyzing the Chart

Since 2020, XRP/ETH formed a large multi-year falling wedge. Two converging trendlines compressed price over roughly four years, connecting a series of lower highs and lower lows. The lower boundary held as support repeatedly. The upper boundary capped every recovery attempt.

That wedge eventually broke out around late 2024. XRP rallied sharply to the target, the projected distance equal to the wedge’s height at its widest point. JD labels this sequence clearly on the chart. The breakout confirmed the pattern and delivered the expected move.

The New Structure Forming

After hitting that target, XRP/ETH pulled back. That pullback has lasted for months and has now formed a new, smaller falling wedge. This is the structure JD is focused on now. It carries its own measured move and target markers, and its apex is approaching. XRP is compressing again inside converging trendlines, and a resolution is coming.

JD’s post notes the setup “looks VERY similar to the previous cycle.” The new falling wedge mirrors the original in structure. If it confirms a breakout, the measured move would project a significant rally for XRP against ETH.

Two Possible Outcomes

The chart is explicitly about the uncertainty. Two arrows sit on the right side of the chart. A green arrow points sharply upward toward a target well above current prices. A red arrow points sharply downward, suggesting that the wedge has not yet confirmed its direction.

A clean breakout above the upper trendline of the current wedge would trigger the bullish measured move. Failure to break higher could send XRP/ETH significantly lower instead. JD does not present this as a guaranteed outcome. His post notes that even if the move plays out as projected, a crash likely follows the peak, adding that most investors will end up poorer regardless of XRP’s move.
