In a Tuesday Twitter post, Michael Miebach, Mastercard CEO updated that the Binance Card pilot is set to begin in Argentina. Although the product is still in its beta stage, it is worth noting the Argentines are the first to use the Binance card in Latin America.

This strategic development comes as Binance aims to foster crypto adoption through the enabling of its usage for both online and offline purchases. “Payments is one of the first and most obvious use cases for crypto, yet adoption has a lot of room to grow,” said Maximiliano Hinz, general director of Binance in Latin America.

As reported by TimesTabloid,  Binance card expanded its services to incorporate the second-largest decentralized meme token Shiba Inu (SHIB) alongside Ripple’s digital token, XRP, and Avalanche (AVAX).

In total, the Binance card supports 14 cryptos including; Cardano (ADA), AVAX, BNB, BTC, BUSD, DOT, ETH, LAZIO, PORTO, SANTOS, SHIB, SXP, USDT, and XRP. Binance plans to expand and support more digital assets on the card.

Therefore, all new and existing Binance users in Argentina, holding Shiba Inu (SHIB), ADA, XRP, and any of the above-mentioned digital assets can now use their tokens to buy goods both in-store and online, at over 90 million Mastercard merchants worldwide.

The Binance and Mastercard powered prepaid Card is issued solely by Credential Payments. For users to be eligible to use the card in making purchases and paying bills with cryptos, a valid national ID is a prerequisite.

As revealed in the announcement, “users can enjoy a seamless transaction in which their cryptocurrencies are converted to fiat currency in real-time at the point of purchase, as well as earn up to 8% in crypto cashback on eligible purchases and enjoy zero fees on ATM withdrawals.”

In the words of Walter Pimenta, Executive Vice President, Products and Innovation, Mastercard Latin America and the Caribbean;

XRP Gains Major Adoption 

As revealed in a Twitter post, XRP is now among the digital currencies Binance Card customers can use for spending both online and in physical marketplaces. In supported countries, users can also convert their XRP to EUR currency in real-time.

To spend XRP using Binance Card, users are instructed to go to Card Dashboard on the app, click Payment Priority and then edit to add, remove or rank cryptocurrencies for spending according to their choice.

Per the announcement, “the card is available to Binance users living in the EEA and Ukrainian refugees residing in the EEA country (Binance Refugee Crypto Card) at the moment.” Some of the countries where the card is accepted are Italy, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, France, etc.

With the inclusion of XRP, Shiba Inu (SHIB), and AVAX on August 5, the Binance Card has now integrated 14 cryptocurrencies into its technology. Other cryptocurrencies supported on Binance Visa Card include ADA, AVAX, BNB, BTC, BUSD, DOT, ETH, LAZIO, PORTO, SANTOS, SHIB, SXP, and USDT.

Binance Card is a debit card supported by Visa and distributed by the financial institution Swipe. The card is issued by the licensed entity UAB Finansinės paslaugos, Contis, according to Binance.

As a crypto solutions company, Ripple focuses on expanding its global presence. It has officially opened its Engineering Hub in Toronto, which is the company’s first landing in the Canadian territory. 

Ripple unveiled the plans for this key engineering hub in late June. Back then, the blockchain payment firm said it plans to hire only 50 blockchain engineers in the metropolis at the initial stage.

The crypto solutions company noted that it plans to employ hundreds of blockchain software engineers across the globe in the future. Also, Ripple has continued to invest in different communities through many charity donations.

Users can now spend the underlisted cryptocurrencies; ADA, AVAX, BNB, BTC, BUSD, DOT, ETH, LAZIO, PORTO, SANTOS, SHIB, SXP, USDT, and XRP using their Card. These selected cryptos can also be converted to EUR currency.

As of 8 August 2022, the Binance Visa card supports only 14 digital currencies while there is a likelihood of many other cryptocurrencies being added to the list.

How Users Can Leverage Binance Visa Card

The virtual version of the Binance Visa Card can be used for online payments and is supported by Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

Part of the announcement read;

“To spend the newly supported cryptocurrencies with Binance Card, please go to Card Dashboard > Payment Priority > Edit to add, remove or rank cryptocurrencies for spending according to your own preference.”

“There will be no changes to the current Payment Priority preferences of existing Binance Card users with the addition of XRP, SHIB, and AVAX to Binance Card.”

According to Binance, the Visa card allows for the real-time conversion of cryptocurrency to EUR currency, when users make transactions. It is worth noting that users can spend EUR directly from their Binance Funding Wallet.  

The financial entity, Swipe is the sole distributor of the Binance Visa Card. The debit card is available to Binance users living in the selected countries including Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, and many others.

Shiba Inu has recorded numerous listings and strategic adoptions as a payment method recently. The support of SHIB on the Binance Visa card would further increase the exposure of the dog-themed token. And Significant developments, such as the Shiba Eternity game, are also coming to complement the current growth of the Shiba Inu ecosystem.
