Pundit Says This SEC News Is Massive for Crypto and XRP

Levi Rietveld, crypto expert and creator of Crypto Crusaders, recently highlighted remarks from SEC Chair Paul Atkins that carry significant weight for crypto holders.

Rietveld shared a video of Atkins speaking on the regulatory outlook for digital assets. The message was clear. The SEC is moving forward on crypto regulation, with or without Congress.

Atkins Speaks on the CLARITY Act

Atkins expressed genuine optimism about the CLARITY Act. “I have confidence that Congress will adopt the CLARITY Act,” he said, “and that the president will be able to sign it.” He connected the legislation directly to America’s competitive standing, warning that the U.S. has pushed crypto innovation offshore and must bring it back under American law.

Atkins has also stated separately that the SEC is “ready, willing, and able to come out with rules” if Congress does not act. The agency will not wait indefinitely. He stressed urgency, citing direct competition from China and other nations.

Friday’s Vote

The SEC has scheduled an open meeting for Friday, August 14, at 10:00 AM ET. The sole agenda item is whether to propose new rules creating a tailored offering regime for crypto investment contracts. This proposal, known as Regulation Crypto, is the first formal crypto rulemaking under Atkins’ leadership.

Friday’s vote determines whether the proposal advances to public comment, not whether it becomes a final rule. The commission is expected to approve that step.

Peirce Aligns With the Chair

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce has confirmed the same position. She stated the agency will address “issues like custody, trading of tokenized securities, and all kinds of questions about how the existing rules interact with crypto.”

She confirmed the SEC will also develop a fundraising framework for crypto issuers. Peirce echoed Atkins, affirming the agency will push forward on rulemaking regardless of the CLARITY Act’s outcome.

XRP Holders Are Watching

XRP already holds digital commodity status under the SEC and CFTC’s March 2026 joint guidance. Clearer rules on custody, tokenized securities trading, and fundraising pathways directly strengthen the legal environment surrounding assets like XRP. Institutional investors require that certainty before committing capital at scale.

The SEC that once pursued years of enforcement action against Ripple now actively works to build a regulatory structure that supports crypto markets. Atkins has positioned the agency as a participant in the industry’s future. Friday’s vote is the clearest demonstration of that yet.
