One of Canada’s largest banks now has reportable XRP exposure on record with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Crypto pundit BankXRP (@BankXRP) shared the EDGAR filing on X, revealing that Bank of Montreal filed a Form 13F-HR for Q2 2026 on August 12, 2026, covering the period ending June 30. BMO’s entry adds another major name to a growing list of institutional disclosures tied to XRP.
The Institutional Pattern
BMO’s disclosure does not stand alone. It arrives after several months of similar filings from firms across different sectors and sizes. Citadel filed a 13F earlier in 2026 disclosing 34,900 call options on the Canary XRP ETF. The filing also showed Citadel had fully closed its put options on the same product.
Gallacher Capital Management followed with its Q2 13F-HR in July, reporting 86,744 shares in the Canary XRP ETF at a value of $961,126. Brookstone Capital Management also holds a disclosed position in XRP ETFs.

Rising Demand For XRP ETFs
Franklin Templeton runs the XRPZ ETF on NYSE Arca. Bitrue reported that Franklin Templeton clients purchased $5.66 million worth of XRP. On July 16, XRP ETFs recorded $6.78 million in net inflows in a single day, with Bitwise leading at $4.41 million and Franklin’s XRPZ adding $2.38 million.
The U.S. spot XRP ETFs also recorded 8 consecutive weeks of net inflows through mid-2026. Cumulative net inflows reached $1.49 billion since the ETFs launched in November 2025. May 2026 was the strongest single month, pulling in $118 million.
Why Growing Adoption is Beneficial
Commercial banks operate under stricter regulatory requirements than asset managers. A 13F disclosure from an institution classified under SIC 6029 signals that compliance teams reviewed and approved the XRP exposure. This is a different category of institutional participant from a hedge fund or an ETF issuer.

BMO manages hundreds of billions in assets across North America. Its presence in an SEC disclosure alongside XRP adds weight to the argument that the asset class has cleared internal risk reviews at major financial institutions.
A Disclosure, Not a Statement
SEC filings are regulatory requirements. They document positions. BMO’s 13F confirms reportable XRP exposure as of June 30, 2026. The filing itself is the information. The list of institutions showing interest in XRP continues to grow.
