Dom Kwok to XRP Army: How to Ensure Never to Get Hacked

Crypto investors continue to look for ways to keep their assets safe from hackers and scams. EasyA cofounder Dom Kwok has shared several practical steps users can take to protect their funds and reduce the risk of losing access to their wallets.

However, responses to his advice also raised questions about what happens when users believe they have followed security recommendations but still lose their assets.

Essential Crypto Security Measures

Kwok shared a checklist on X explaining how cryptocurrency holders can improve their security and reduce the risk of losing their funds to hackers. His recommendations focused on hardware wallets, seed phrase protection, transaction verification, and suspicious messages.

He advised users to purchase hardware wallets directly from their manufacturers rather than rely on potentially unsafe third-party sources. He also recommended keeping seed phrases offline by writing them on paper instead of storing them online or in cloud services.

Kwok further encouraged investors to send a test transaction before transferring larger amounts, stressing the importance of verifying the recipient address on a hardware device before approving a transaction.

The EasyA cofounder also warned users against signing transactions they do not understand. According to the advice, cryptocurrency holders should refuse signature requests they cannot interpret and ignore unsolicited messages from people claiming to offer support.

Kwok also warned victims of cryptocurrency theft to be cautious when seeking help, as scammers may target them with false promises of recovering their stolen funds.

He concluded his post by encouraging users to stay safe while managing their digital assets.

Comment Raises Questions About D’CENT Wallet Victims

Although Kwok’s recommendations focused on common security practices, one commenter, WWJD, argued that the advice did not address concerns raised by people reporting losses involving D’CENT hardware wallets.

WWJD acknowledged the importance of protecting seed phrases but questioned what happens when users believe they have followed security recommendations and still experience unauthorized transactions or stolen funds.

The commenter called for greater attention to the reported cases, asking Kwok to help bring D’CENT users’ concerns to a wider audience. WWJD also sought answers about potential investigations and accountability.

The comment expressed frustration that general security advice might not address every situation involving reported cryptocurrency losses. However, the allegations in the comment do not independently establish the cause of the reported incidents or confirm a security vulnerability in D’CENT products.

Xaman Wallet Also Enters the Conversation

Another user, theUpside, asked for Kwok’s opinion on Xaman as an option for storing XRP.

Thomas Toisgros responded by describing Xaman as a self-custodial wallet designed for the XRP Ledger and Xahau. He explained that users’ private keys remain encrypted on their devices and that XRPL Labs does not hold those keys.

Toisgros also stated that Xaman processes transaction signing locally on the user’s phone, allowing holders to retain control over their assets.

The exchange introduced another aspect of cryptocurrency security: the importance of understanding how a wallet stores private keys and handles transaction approvals.

Ultimately, Kwok’s advice emphasized precautions users can take to protect their holdings, while the responses raised a separate question about how reported wallet-related losses should be investigated and addressed.
