Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD has reached another milestone with its latest exchange integration, which XRP Ledger validator Vet believes is a much larger opportunity for the XRPL ecosystem.
Reacting to Upbit’s decision to support RLUSD deposits and withdrawals on the XRP Ledger, alongside KRW, BTC, and USDT trading pairs, Vet said the significance extends beyond the stablecoin itself.
In his view, the integration establishes infrastructure that could support a wider range of XRP Ledger-issued assets and future network features, strengthening XRPL’s presence in one of XRP’s largest markets.
Infrastructure That Extends Beyond RLUSD
Sharing screenshots from Upbit’s announcement on X, Vet pointed to the exchange’s confirmation that RLUSD deposits and withdrawals are supported exclusively through the XRP Ledger network. The exchange also stated that transactions through any other network are not supported, emphasizing that users must use the designated XRPL network when transferring RLUSD.
Vet noted that South Korea has one of the largest and most active XRP communities in the cryptocurrency market. He added that Upbit is the largest exchange by XRP holdings, with more than 6.4 billion XRP, and consistently records substantial trading volume between XRP and the Korean won.
While RLUSD is the asset being introduced, Vet says it’s significant that Upbit has now established the technical infrastructure needed to support XRP Ledger-issued assets. In his view, this creates opportunities for additional XRPL integrations in the future, even if they are not directly related to RLUSD itself.
YES! Very glad to see this and IMO a lot of potential is here. Let me explain!

Potential Gateway for Future XRPL Features
Vet explained that Upbit serves as a major entry point for cryptocurrency users in South Korea. Because of its position in the market, he suggested that the exchange could become an important hub for introducing new users to the XRP Ledger ecosystem and its expanding range of features.

He also connected the integration to the XRP Ledger’s planned Lending and Borrowing functionality. Vet suggested that, once the feature becomes available, Upbit could potentially enable users to put the exchange’s more than 6 billion XRP holdings to work by earning yield through native XRP Ledger capabilities.
He emphasized that such functionality would operate natively on XRPL without relying on smart contracts, which he said reduces smart contract-related risks.
Vet concluded that RLUSD has already opened new opportunities for the XRP Ledger to deepen its integration with major exchanges and institutions. He argued that the stablecoin is helping extend the reach of XRPL beyond XRP itself by encouraging support for issued assets and additional network capabilities.
In his view, the Upbit integration represents another step toward broader adoption of the XRP Ledger ecosystem, with both XRP and other XRPL-based assets becoming more widely accessible.
