XRP Liquidity Just Got Absolutely Crushed. Here’s What Happened

XRP’s market structure has shifted. Crypto analyst Xaif (@Xaif_Crypto) published a post flagging a significant deterioration in XRP’s cumulative volume delta (CVD).

The CVD dropped from near-neutral levels to approximately -1.18 billion. Both moving averages on the chart continue trending lower.

The CVD measures the net difference between buying and selling volume over time. A collapse of this scale signals that sellers have dominated the market consistently, not in isolated bursts.

Reading the Chart

The TradingView chart Xaif shared tells a clear story. CVD held near 0 through early October. Around October 12 to 13, it broke sharply lower. A brief stabilization followed, then another leg down accelerated the decline through October 17 to 19.

The green moving average has curved steeply downward. The purple moving average lags behind but follows the same trajectory. Neither shows any sign of flattening. The most recent CVD reading on the chart sits near -1.18 billion, with the price of XRP at 1.2983.

The sustained decline in CVD shows consistent net selling across the observed period, not a single event.

Capitulation or Continuation

Xaif closes with the central question: “is this capitulation, or is there more selling left?” Some analysts believe the short-term future is bearish, and that question carries real weight given the chart’s structure.

Capitulation typically refers to a final, exhaustive wave of selling that precedes a reversal. The CVD data does not yet confirm that condition.

Community Responses

The responses from other analysts add important context to Xaif’s observation. One user offered a precise definition to measure against, stating that capitulation requires a volume spike, long wicks, funding at -0.1%, and CVD flatlining while price drops.

He assessed the current situation and found that selling remains active with no divergence present. His conclusion was that the market is in distribution, not capitulation. He also noted that the worst day typically arrives one to two days before a reversal, suggesting a bottom may be approaching but has not arrived.

Another took a different view, stating that he has seen this pattern play out before and it feels like capitulation. Another commenter offered a middle-ground assessment, acknowledging that the CVD reading at -1.18 billion carries the feel of capitulation, while noting that the moving averages remain weak. His read aligns with the chart data Xaif presented.

The Current Picture

The CVD data shows sustained selling pressure in XRP’s market. The moving averages have not turned. No divergence between price and CVD has appeared. Analysts watching the chart are split between those who see distribution continuing and those who sense exhaustion setting in.
