Claver recalled the story of an investor who reportedly followed standard security practices but still lost access to his cryptocurrency because of where he bought his hardware wallet.

Claver used the example to remind XRP holders and the wider crypto community that the source of a hardware wallet can be just as important as how it is used.

Claver Says the Wallet Purchase Was the Critical Mistake

In his X post, Claver described an individual who, by his account, had taken extensive precautions to protect his digital assets. He said the person had never fallen victim to phishing attempts, never shared private keys, and did not allow anyone else access to the wallet.

Despite those precautions, Claver explained that the individual’s cryptocurrency disappeared approximately two years later. He attributed the loss to a single decision: purchasing the hardware wallet through Amazon rather than directly from the manufacturer.

According to Claver, tampered hardware wallets can be shipped with pre-generated recovery seed phrases, creating an opportunity for attackers to access funds later. He advised users to avoid that risk by buying hardware wallets only from the original manufacturer.

Recommendation Based on Personal Experience

In the accompanying video, Claver repeated his recommendation that users purchase hardware wallets directly from manufacturers rather than third-party marketplaces. He also disclosed that he is an affiliate of the hardware wallet company Descent.

Claver explained that if viewers purchase a wallet through his affiliate link, he receives a small commission of approximately five dollars. However, he emphasized that the disclosure was important because he recommends products that he personally uses and trusts.

He also clarified that Descent is not the only available option. While he said it is the hardware wallet he personally recommends, Claver added that users are free to choose any manufacturer as long as they purchase directly from the source.

]]> On March 2, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) added Ripple Prime to its National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC) directory.

Abs Nassif, host of the Good Evening Crypto podcast, shared a video where Digital Asset Investor, another prominent figure in the community, spoke about that development.

The video walked through a private equity document from OPCO Advisory, Inc. that has XRP holders paying close attention. The document places Ripple inside a system most Americans never see but rely on every time they trade a stock. DTCC sits behind nearly every securities transaction in the U.S.

Ripple built Ripple Prime from Hidden Road, a prime brokerage it acquired in 2025 for $1.25 billion. The OPCO report calls the NSCC addition “the first crypto-linked infrastructure provider with direct access to U.S. clearing rails.”

Inside The OPCO Report

The OpCo report titles its Ripple section “The Bridge Is Being Built From Both Sides.” It also covers the Canton Network alongside Ripple. The report treats both as candidates for connecting blockchain settlement to traditional finance. Digital Asset Investor pointed to the report’s language as leaving little room for guesswork.

Hidden Road cleared roughly $3 trillion a year for more than 300 institutional clients before Ripple bought it. A listing on the NSCC directory grants a firm direct operational standing within the post-trade workflows used by the world’s largest financial institutions. Ripple now holds that standing.

Regulators Are Opening the Door Wider

Digital Asset Investor also drew attention to a passage describing the current administration’s posture toward crypto firms. That passage states that regulators want to let firms like Coinbase, Circle, and Ripple compete with regulated financial institutions.

It notes that these firms are pushing the SEC to let them combine brokerage, exchange, custody, and clearing under one roof instead of splitting those functions across separate intermediaries. That regulatory push lines up with what Ripple has already built.

Where This Fits Into DTCC’s Bigger Plans

DTCC isn’t stopping at one listing. The corporation has filed patents naming Ripple and the XRP Ledger as compatible infrastructure for tokenized finance. DTCC is also preparing to launch tokenization of major stocks, ETFs, and Treasuries. Ripple Prime is positioned to handle post-trade flows tied to that effort.

Ripple Prime carries credentials that let it clear trades the same way Wall Street’s largest firms do. That standing puts XRP-linked infrastructure inside the clearing rails that run U.S. capital markets, a position no crypto-native firm held before this listing.

They took in fresh money every single week from May 15 through Jul 2, 2026, according to data from SoSoValue.

The XRP Streak by the Numbers

XRP ETFs have seen record-breaking performance this year. Over those eight weeks, XRP spot ETFs posted a positive net inflow every week, adding roughly $193 million in total. The strongest single week came on May 15, when XRP funds pulled in $60.50 million.

Every other week stayed in positive territory too, ranging from $10.66 million to $34.21 million. As of Jul 2, XRP spot ETFs held $987.91 million in total net assets.

Crypto commentator X Finance Bull (@Xfinancebull) highlighted this streak in a recent post. Despite the absence of major players like BlackRock, XRP has received significant institutional attention. XRP spot ETFs have not posted a red week since May 1, 2026.

Bitcoin and Ethereum Tell a Different Story

The same eight weeks looked rough for the two largest crypto ETF categories. Ethereum spot ETFs posted losses in all eight weeks, with weekly outflows reaching as high as $273.34 million on Jun 26. The total outflow across the stretch came to roughly $1.198 billion. Total Ethereum ETF net assets stood at $9.02 billion as of Jul 2.

Bitcoin spot ETFs followed the same pattern, posting losses in all eight weeks. The largest single-week outflow hit $1.79 billion during the week of Jun 26. The total outflow across the stretch came to roughly $6.54 billion. Bitcoin spot ETF net assets totaled $74.37 billion as of Jul 2, still far larger than either XRP or Ethereum in absolute terms.

What the Flows Suggest

This trend has repeated many times in 2026, with only XRP ETFs seeing inflows. The divergence between XRP and its larger counterparts is consistent across the full eight-week window. The asset has drawn steady institutional demand for two months while the two largest crypto funds have faced sustained selling pressure every single week.

Total net asset figures still favor Bitcoin by a wide margin, and Ethereum holds a larger asset base than XRP, too. However, reports suggest that capital rotation has been happening, and the direction of weekly flows has clearly split in XRP’s favor since mid-May.

Crypto analyst Xaif Crypto highlighted the filings showing the sizeable XRP holdings reported by two Seoul City Council members.

According to Xaif Crypto’s X post, a South Korean lawmaker disclosed owning 519,004 XRP in an official asset filing, while her son was reported to hold an additional 3,336 XRP.

The analyst also noted that another Seoul council member declared ownership of more than 409,000 XRP, presenting the filings as another example of XRP’s growing presence among individuals in public office.

Official Filings Detail Crypto Portfolios

According to the information, Seoul City Council member Kim Hye-young reported virtual assets worth approximately 1.706 billion won, making the lawmaker the largest reported holder of digital assets among the officials listed.

The filing states that Kim personally held 16 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and other digital assets, while also reporting Ethereum owned by a spouse. The disclosure further listed 519,004 XRP under Kim’s name and another 3,336 XRP owned by the lawmaker’s eldest son.

The documents also identified Seoul City Council member Choi Min-kyu as the official with the second-largest reported virtual asset holdings, valued at roughly 1.621 billion won. According to the filing, Choi reported owning approximately 409,551 XRP along with several other digital assets.

Xaif Crypto presented these disclosures as evidence that XRP has joined the investment portfolios of public officials, suggesting that the asset continues to gain visibility outside traditional cryptocurrency circles.
