Crypto enthusiast Mino (@Ripple_Mino) recently posted a valuation that ties a $15,000 price target directly to XRP’s design, and the argument rests on the mathematics built into the asset from day one.

Mino stated, “When XRP replaces Swift, it will be valued beyond $15,000 per token.”

When XRP replaces Swift, it will be valued beyond $15,000 per token.

The original token design allowed for such a valuation as 1 XRP can be divided into 1,000,000 smaller units known as drops.

So 1 Drop = 0.000001 XRP
(one millionth of an XRP) pic.twitter.com/QkXJ2wtaO1

— Mino (@Ripple_Mino) July 24, 2026

The Role of Drops in the Valuation Case

The foundation of Mino’s argument is XRP’s divisibility. The token breaks down into units called drops. While the digital asset has a total supply of 100 billion tokens, 1 XRP equals 1,000,000 drops, meaning 1 drop equals 0.000001 XRP.

This matters for the valuation case. At $15,000 per XRP, a single drop carries a value of $0.015. That level of granularity allows XRP to function as a settlement asset at extreme price levels without becoming impractical for small transactions. The digital asset’s design supports high valuations by default, while meeting settlement needs at a wide range of price levels.

Mino’s post connects this directly to XRP’s role in global payments. If XRP absorbs the settlement volume currently handled by SWIFT, the argument holds that the token’s price must rise to reflect the large-scale liquidity demand that comes with that role.

What the SWIFT Argument Adds

Recent reports suggest that Ripple has expressed willingness to work with SWIFT rather than against it. One proposed model puts Ripple in charge of settlement while SWIFT retains the messaging layer. That setup keeps SWIFT’s network of 11,000 financial institutions intact while routing value through XRP.

Ripple’s presence in SWIFT’s partner directory, confirmed in May, reinforces that scenario. Ripple was also listed as an exhibitor at Sibos 2026, SWIFT’s flagship banking conference. These developments support the view that XRP is moving closer to global settlement infrastructure, the exact environment Mino’s valuation depends on.

The $15,000 Target

Mino’s post argues that XRP’s original design anticipated a high-value settlement role, and that the drop system ensures usability even at $15,000 per token.

Whether that price materializes depends on the pace of institutional adoption and the extent to which Ripple’s settlement infrastructure penetrates the global banking system. However, she believes the architecture was built to support that outcome.

Crypto researcher SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) has resurfaced a transcript from a 2019 Economic Club of New York appearance by Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. The document puts a sharp spotlight on XRP’s speed advantage over traditional SWIFT transactions, and the volatility math behind it.

SWIFT recently announced its blockchain-based shared ledger, with 17 banks preparing to pilot tokenized cross-border payments on its infrastructure.

SWIFT positions this as an evolution of its existing network, trusted by more than 11,500 financial institutions globally. The ledger enables 24/7 payment processing, settling through existing systems after transactions complete.

BRAD GARLINGHOUSE: XRP CARRIES LESS RISK THAN A TRADITIONAL SWIFT TRANSACTION

“When you do a SWIFT transaction, the average transaction, let's just say is three days. That's 270,000 seconds, trust me I did the math on that. If you multiply 270,000 seconds in a low volatility… https://t.co/z3uDvpSpR7 pic.twitter.com/kuUzWPk32B

— SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) July 23, 2026

Ripple CEO Made the Case in 2019

Back in October 2019, Garlinghouse was already addressing the volatility objection that banks raise against crypto. His response was built on simple arithmetic. “When you do a SWIFT transaction, the average transaction, let’s just say, is three days. That’s 270,000 seconds,” he told the audience.

He then compared that exposure window to an XRP transaction completing in 3-4 seconds. Multiply 270,000 seconds of exposure in a low-volatility asset against 3 seconds in a high-volatility one, and XRP produces less total volatility risk.

The Hedging Factor

With a traditional fiat transaction settling over two to three days, a counterparty absorbs and prices that currency risk on your behalf. XRP removes that equation entirely.

“With XRP, it’s happening so fast you don’t really need to hedge it because you’re in and out of it in a few seconds,” Garlinghouse said; No multi-day exposure window. The transaction completes before volatility becomes a meaningful variable.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

— TimesTabloid (@TimesTabloid1) June 15, 2025

What the Post Highlights

SMQKE’s post puts this argument in focus at a moment when SWIFT is actively building blockchain infrastructure. SWIFT’s new ledger reduces settlement time compared to traditional rails, operating through tokenized deposits and allowing banks to move funds outside business hours before finalising through existing systems.

The distinction SMQKE highlights is settlement speed. SWIFT’s ledger improves on the traditional model, but XRP was engineered around a 3- to 4-second transaction window that Garlinghouse described in 2019.

The Argument Has Been on Record

Garlinghouse made this case publicly seven years ago. The math has not changed. A transaction completing in seconds carries a fundamentally different risk profile than one settling over days, regardless of the asset’s daily volatility. Garlinghouse laid it out plainly in 2019, and the argument remains very relevant today.

Cross-border payments remain one of the major use cases for blockchain technology, and XRPL validator Vet has returned with an update after documenting his experience with a delayed international bank transfer.

Days after explaining that a EUR wire payment sent to the United States had become stuck somewhere within the banking system, Vet confirmed that the transaction had finally settled while using the experience to reinforce his view that blockchain-based payment networks address long-standing inefficiencies.

The update follows a post on X from four days earlier in which Vet explained that he had initiated an international wire transfer in euros that was supposed to arrive in U.S. dollars.

According to him, the payment became delayed at an intermediary bank, prompting him to request a SWIFT trace to determine where the funds had stalled. He suggested at the time that the transfer was likely waiting for currency conversion between euros and dollars at an international wire desk.

Vet contrasted that experience with the XRP Ledger’s decentralized exchange, stating that a cross-currency payment between EUR and USD on the XRPL could settle within seconds while allowing anyone to verify the transaction at any time without depending on a bank to provide updates.

Had to sent an international EUR wire payment into the United States to be received in USD.

Days have passed, money is somewhere stuck at an intermediary Bank, requested a SWIFT trace to figure out where the money is stuck. Likely it's pending somewhere for conversion from EUR…

— Vet (@Vet_X0) July 17, 2026

Final Settlement Reinforces His View on Blockchain Payments

Providing an update to the situation, Vet revealed that the payment had eventually reached its destination. He explained that the bank re-triggered the transaction and said the available SWIFT trail did not clearly identify the exact issue.

However, he believes an intermediary bank likely repaired the payment by changing the settlement instructions and routing the transfer through a different intermediary institution before it could be completed.

Although the transfer was ultimately successful, Vet pointed to the need for manual intervention as another example of the limitations that still exist within traditional international payment infrastructure. His comments suggest that even after payments are completed, delays by intermediary banks can create uncertainty for customers trying to track their funds.

Vet also addressed criticism he received after sharing his original experience. He said some people argued that XRP does not solve a real-world problem because its market price has not reached levels they expected. He dismissed that argument, maintaining that price performance should not be confused with the technology’s practical value.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

— TimesTabloid (@TimesTabloid1) June 15, 2025

Blockchain Adoption Remains Central to Vet’s Long-Term Thesis

Expanding on his broader outlook, Vet made it clear that blockchain technology will fundamentally change the financial system over time. He suggested that the benefits of faster settlement, transparent transaction tracking, and reduced dependence on multiple intermediaries will become increasingly important as financial infrastructure continues to evolve.

He rounded up his tweet by encouraging readers to develop their own investment thesis while they still have the opportunity, implying that understanding the long-term utility of blockchain technology is more important than focusing solely on current market prices.

Vet’s latest update therefore closes the chapter on his delayed wire transfer while reinforcing the argument he made from the beginning. Although

the traditional banking system eventually completed the payment, the experience highlighted inefficiencies that he believes blockchain networks such as the XRP Ledger are designed to eliminate.

An older video featuring a SWIFT representative has resurfaced after crypto researcher SMQKE highlighted it on X, renewing interest in the payment network’s past collaboration with enterprise blockchain firm R3.

The post noted comments by a SWIFT executive discussing the company’s partnership with R3 and the integration of SWIFT gpi with R3’s Corda ecosystem, while suggesting the development supported XRP through Corda Settler.

The video has prompted renewed interest because it references a real partnership announced in 2019. However, the relationship between SWIFT, R3, and XRP has often been interpreted differently over the years, making it important to distinguish the confirmed facts from broader claims circulating within the crypto community.

Swift representatives previously confirmed their partnership with R3 and the utilization of the Corda Settler which supports XRP.

Watch. https://t.co/Hq4bPwoAqN pic.twitter.com/znwhFU32wW

— SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) July 17, 2026

SWIFT Explained Its Collaboration With R3

In the video attached to SMQKE’s post, a SWIFT representative responded to a question about emerging technologies, including APIs and distributed ledger technology, and how they were influencing cross-border payments.

The representative explained that SWIFT had built APIs into its Global Payments Innovation (gpi) service that enables banks and corporate clients to integrate payment tracking directly into their own systems. He added that SWIFT was also using APIs to connect the gpi experience with distributed ledger ecosystems.

As part of that effort, the executive confirmed that SWIFT had partnered with R3, describing the company as a blockchain infrastructure software provider.

He stated that the partnership enabled R3’s Corda Settler to support SWIFT gpi, allowing blockchain-based environments to access SWIFT’s global payment capabilities.

He emphasized that the primary objective was not the technology itself, but improving the payment experience by reducing friction, increasing speed, and enhancing visibility for cross-border transactions.

Where XRP Entered the Conversation

SMQKE’s post linked the video to XRP because Corda Settler had previously introduced support for the digital asset. Before SWIFT announced its proof-of-concept partnership with R3, the software company had launched Corda Settler, an application designed to settle obligations using different payment mechanisms. XRP was the first cryptocurrency supported by the platform.

That technical detail has frequently led to claims that SWIFT itself adopted or utilized XRP. However, the partnership did not establish XRP as SWIFT’s settlement asset.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

— TimesTabloid (@TimesTabloid1) June 15, 2025

Instead, the proof-of-concept focuses on making users operate within R3’s Corda platform to initiate and track conventional SWIFT gpi payments. Those transactions continued to settle through SWIFT’s existing banking infrastructure using traditional fiat currencies rather than cryptocurrencies.

Community Reactions Continue

The post got a comment from community member Eugene Clark, who stated that XRP would ultimately play a major role in global money movement because of its transaction speed and referenced its patented technology.

While such opinions remain common within the XRP community, the historical partnership itself should be viewed with context. The collaboration between SWIFT and R3 was real and publicly confirmed.

However, it served as an enterprise integration test connecting blockchain-based workflows to SWIFT’s established payment network. Although R3’s Corda Settler supported XRP as one settlement option, the initiative did not represent a direct endorsement or adoption of XRP by SWIFT.

Crypto content creator Crypto Sensei believes the long-standing narrative surrounding Ripple and SWIFT has changed, noting the evolving roles of both financial networks.

The content creator highlighted comments from a former Head of Innovation at SWIFT, who explained that Ripple was never truly attempting to replace the global financial messaging network.

According to Crypto Sensei, the discussion has moved beyond claims of systems replacing each other. Instead, institutions are increasingly focused on interoperability, settlement efficiency, and how multiple technologies can operate together within the financial system.

He noted that SWIFT primarily serves as a messaging and coordination network, while Ripple has built infrastructure designed to move and settle value more efficiently. He also emphasized that individual banks, rather than SWIFT itself, determine which settlement technologies they choose to implement.

MAJOR: The XRP vs SWIFT narrative is finally changing

A former Head of Innovation at SWIFT explained that @Ripple was never really trying to replace SWIFT. As both ecosystems have evolved, the conversation has shifted toward interoperability, settlement, and how different… pic.twitter.com/hPdfk2g4QB

— CryptoSensei (@Crypt0Senseii) July 15, 2026

Former SWIFT Executive Explains the Narrative

In the accompanying video, Crypto Sensei played excerpts from an interview with a former SWIFT Head of Innovation, who addressed why the idea that Ripple would replace SWIFT became so widespread.

The former executive said he was not entirely certain how the narrative developed but suggested that challenging an established market leader is a common strategy for emerging companies seeking visibility.

He also explained that Ripple’s business has changed considerably since 2017 and 2018. Rather than focusing solely on payment networks, Ripple has expanded into areas such as stablecoins, prime brokerage, treasury services, and digital asset issuance. He described this broader strategy as evidence of innovation and maintained that competition encourages improvements across the financial industry.

Crypto Sensei agreed with that assessment, stating that Ripple and SWIFT have never been focused on solving the same problem. While RippleNet can transmit financial messages, he argued that Ripple’s infrastructure extends beyond messaging; it also offers settlement capabilities through XRP and other blockchain-based solutions.

Regulation and Institutional Adoption Remain Key Factors

Crypto Sensei also revisited comments previously made by former SWIFT Chief Executive Gottfried Leibbrandt, who had stated that regulatory uncertainty and cryptocurrency volatility limited institutional adoption of XRP.

Although those remarks were made several years ago, Crypto Sensei argued that they continue to reflect the current environment, as many financial institutions are still waiting for comprehensive legislation before integrating digital assets into their infrastructure.

He suggested that future regulatory developments could become a significant catalyst for institutional adoption, particularly if clearer legal frameworks provide banks with greater certainty regarding cryptocurrency use.

Multi-Chain Infrastructure Seen as the Long-Term Direction

Throughout the video, Crypto Sensei stressed that blockchain infrastructure is likely to become increasingly interconnected rather than dominated by a single network. He highlighted statements from the former SWIFT executive describing interoperability as a central objective, with financial institutions expected to connect to multiple public and private blockchain networks over time.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

— TimesTabloid (@TimesTabloid1) June 15, 2025

He also cited comments from Coach JV, who cautioned investors against relying on influencers with acclaimed insider knowledge about institutional blockchain adoption. Crypto Sensei echoed that message, urging viewers to base their opinions on verifiable information rather than speculation circulating across social media.

The video concluded by examining SWIFT’s new blockchain-based ledger initiative. Crypto Sensei acknowledged that the platform modernizes payment coordination but argued that settlement relies largely on traditional financial rails. In his view, this leaves room for technologies such as Ripple’s payment infrastructure to complement existing systems if financial institutions choose to adopt them.

He ultimately maintained that the industry is moving toward a multi-chain future in which messaging networks, settlement platforms, stablecoins, and tokenized assets each perform various functions, with interoperability becoming more important than competition among individual technologies.

Ripple’s official documentation has become the focus of another discussion within the XRP community after crypto researcher SMQKE highlighted a section describing one of Ripple Payments’ software capabilities.

The post directed followers to Ripple’s own documentation, arguing that it confirms support for “SWIFT messaging interoperability,” a feature that has long been mentioned in conversations about Ripple’s enterprise payment infrastructure.

Sharing a screenshot from Ripple’s documentation, SMQKE highlighted the description of the “integration module,” which states that it is “a software component that connects your internal systems with Ripple Payments.” The documentation goes on to explain that its features include “automated orchestration, SWIFT messaging interoperability, and third-party extensions.”

By pointing to Ripple’s official materials rather than external commentary, SMQKE maintained that the documentation itself confirms Ripple’s ability to work with SWIFT messaging standards.

Official Ripple documentation confirms that Ripple supports “SWIFT messaging interoperability.”

Documentation Describes Integration Capabilities

The attached screenshot also includes Ripple’s definition of ISO 20022, describing it as the international standard for electronic data interchange between financial institutions. According to the documentation, the RippleNet Payment Object carries payment instruction details using this standard, reinforcing Ripple’s alignment with widely adopted financial messaging formats.

The highlighted section focuses specifically on interoperability rather than replacing existing financial messaging infrastructure. It explains that Ripple’s integration module connects internal systems with Ripple Payments while remaining compatible with SWIFT messaging, automated orchestration and third-party extensions.

SMQKE presented the documentation as direct evidence that Ripple has built software capable of interacting with SWIFT messaging, relying on Ripple’s own published technical resources rather than speculation.

Community Responses Offer Different Interpretations

The post generated differing interpretations among commenters, with several users agreeing on the significance of the documentation while disagreeing on what it ultimately proves.

CryptoSensei stated that reviewing official documentation is essential before concluding. The commenter said many narratives lose credibility when compared with the technical documentation describing what Ripple has actually developed.

Others took a more cautious position. Jimmy Lineth acknowledged that Ripple supports SWIFT messaging but argued that this should not be interpreted as confirmation that SWIFT intends to adopt Ripple’s products. The commenter stressed that software compatibility and commercial adoption are separate issues.

Jamie Williamson also challenged broader conclusions that some investors may draw from the documentation. According to Williamson, bi-directional messaging is simply a software capability and should not be viewed as evidence that SWIFT plans to use XRP.

The commenter further noted that SWIFT already operates its own gpi tracking system and recently launched a tokenized deposit pilot on private Hyperledger Besu infrastructure, explaining that these developments indicate SWIFT continues to pursue its own settlement strategy rather than relying on public cryptocurrencies.

Overall, the exchange centered on what Ripple’s documentation explicitly states. While the documentation confirms that Ripple Payments includes SWIFT messaging interoperability as an integration feature, commenters differed on whether that technical capability should be interpreted as evidence of any future partnership or product adoption by SWIFT itself.

Ripple’s intellectual property and the long-running discussion about the future of cross-border payments returned to focus after crypto researcher SMQKE publicized documents on X that he believes reinforce Ripple’s position in the financial technology sector.

SMQKE’s post centered on the claim that Ripple’s patented technology prevents competitors from replicating the XRP Ledger’s efficiency, leading to the conclusion that any institution seeking similar capabilities would need to integrate with Ripple’s technology rather than creating an identical alternative.

SMQKE summarized his position with a direct message, stating that Ripple’s technology is patented and that SWIFT cannot copy the XRP Ledger. He added that Ripple’s patents prevent competitors from using similar blockchain networks without permission. Based on that view, he concluded that SWIFT’s only practical option for using the XRPL would be through integration with Ripple’s technology.

REMEMBER: RIPPLE’S TECHNOLOGY IS PATENTED—> SWIFT CANNOT COPY THE XRPL

Therefore, SWIFT will not be able to create a copycat ledger that is as efficient as the XRPL. … pic.twitter.com/1IfyQgPfxZ

— SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) July 14, 2026

Documents Cited in the Post

To support the claim, SMQKE attached excerpts from what appears to be an academic paper discussing patented blockchain technology in payment systems.

One section uses Ripple’s blockchain payment network as a case study, stating that banks and financial institutions can carry out international transactions more quickly and affordably through RippleNet, describing it as a patented blockchain-based cross-border payment system.

Another highlighted passage states that Ripple’s patented technology grants the company exclusive authority over its payment system and prevents rivals from making unauthorized use of comparable blockchain networks. SMQKE presented these excerpts as documentation supporting his argument that competitors cannot simply duplicate Ripple’s technology while maintaining the same functionality.

The researcher also included another document discussing the future of financial infrastructure. The highlighted section notes that messaging standards such as SWIFT can be integrated into Ripple, while regulatory bodies would set and enforce financial standards. SMQKE used this passage to reinforce his conclusion that integration, rather than replication, represents the likely path for organizations seeking to utilize Ripple’s technology.

Community Responses Offer Different Perspectives

The post also prompted responses that reflected differing interpretations of Ripple’s intellectual property and the role of the XRP Ledger.

One commenter, identified as LORD, rejected the idea that SWIFT would use the XRPL directly. Instead, the commenter stated that banks, rather than SWIFT, will determine which payment infrastructure to adopt. The response also emphasized that future financial infrastructure is expected to be interoperable, allowing multiple payment systems and blockchains to communicate using common standards.

Another commenter, Ledger Legend, agreed that Ripple owns intellectual property related to specific payment technologies but noted that the XRP Ledger itself is open source. According to the commenter, developers and competitors can build blockchain networks with similar capabilities, although Ripple’s patents could restrict the copying of particular payment technologies or proprietary implementations.

SMQKE maintained that the documents support his position, presenting Ripple’s patents and references to SWIFT integration as evidence that the company holds a distinctive technological advantage in the evolving cross-border payments landscape.

A research paper published in June 2025 has stirred debate within the XRP community after crypto researcher SMQKE highlighted it as evidence that SWIFT had successfully tested Ripple as a blockchain capable of enhancing its network under the Hyperledger framework while using the ISO 20022 messaging standard.

The claim has generated contrasting interpretations of what the paper actually demonstrates and whether it supports assertions of a future Ripple integration with SWIFT.

In his X post, SMQKE stated that Ripple was successfully tested as a blockchain to enhance the SWIFT network through Hyperledger and ISO 20022. He further stated that Ripple is compatible with the SWIFT infrastructure and will be integrated into its services, adding that the documentation supporting the claim is in the attached research paper.

Yes,in June 2025, Ripple was successfully tested as a blockchain that can enhance the SWIFT network under the Hyperledger framework and utilizing ISO 20022.

Ripple is compatible with the SWIFT infrastructure and will be integrated into its services.

This is documented… pic.twitter.com/TeOBRqkPXE

— SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) July 13, 2026

What the Research Paper Actually Says

The highlighted sections of the paper describe a prototype blockchain framework that researchers developed using Hyperledger Fabric, with smart contracts written in Go and Node.js. The study compared the prototype’s performance against a simulated SWIFT system using several metrics, including transaction speed, cost efficiency, security auditing, and regulatory compliance.

The experimental setup suggests that the researchers used Hyperledger Fabric v2.4 and simulated SWIFT transactions. It also states that the dataset consisted of Ripple and Stellar testnet logs for benchmarking purposes. According to the paper, the prototype reduced settlement times from approximately two days to between three and five seconds while lowering operational costs by 86.6%.

The paper also outlines future work involving interoperability with central bank digital currencies and next-generation payment standards such as ISO 20022. However, it does not state that Ripple’s XRP Ledger was directly tested as the blockchain powering the prototype or that SWIFT intends to integrate Ripple into its production services.

Community Response Challenges the Interpretation

A community member identified as Red disputed SMQKE’s interpretation, stating that the post misrepresented the paper’s findings. Red explained that the Ripple and Stellar datasets referenced in the methodology were historical blockchain data used for benchmarking rather than the technologies being tested.

He further noted that the researchers built and evaluated their own blockchain framework on Hyperledger Fabric rather than deploying the XRP Ledger or Stellar’s network. Red questioned where the direct connection to Ripple’s integration with SWIFT is in the paper, maintaining that the research did not support the conclusion presented in SMQKE’s post.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

— TimesTabloid (@TimesTabloid1) June 15, 2025

Red added that while there are legitimate developments within the XRP Ledger ecosystem, overstating connections that are not explicitly documented undermines credibility and distracts from verifiable technological progress.

Previous SWIFT Rumors Also Faced Rejection

The debate also aligns with earlier reports surrounding alleged ties between SWIFT and XRP. A Times Tabloid report noted that former SWIFT Chief Innovation Officer Tom Zschach debunked SWIFT’s plan to use XRP.

Responding to speculation that SWIFT would support public tokens such as XRP rather than launching its own digital ledger for banks, Zschach responded, “Not happening.”

Together, the research paper and the subsequent reactions highlight the importance of distinguishing between benchmark datasets, prototype implementations, and confirmed commercial integrations when evaluating claims surrounding Ripple, SWIFT, and blockchain-based payment infrastructure.

The debate on whether SWIFT will ever use XRP has consumed the crypto community for years. Crypto researcher SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG), a key figure in the current debate across the community, has shifted focus to a source that predates the current arguments. He drew attention to statements from Gottfried Leibbrandt, the CEO of SWIFT from 2012 to 2019.

What Leibbrandt Said About Ripple and XRP

Leibbrandt stated clearly that XRP sits at the center of Ripple’s value proposition. “I think that the big part of Ripple’s value proposition is the cryptocurrency XRP,” he said during his tenure as CEO. He acknowledged banks’ resistance to converting assets into cryptocurrency, citing price volatility as the primary concern. His assessment pointed to a conditional barrier, not a permanent one.

SMQKE’s post presents this as significant. If volatility was the obstacle Leibbrandt named, then the arrival of regulatory clarity and market maturity changes the calculation.

FORMER SWIFT CEO: REGULATORY UNCERTAINTY AND VOLATILITY PREVENTS SWIFT FROM USING XRP

This is why SWIFT will use XRP once regulatory clarity has been achieved.

“I think that the big part of Ripple’s value proposition is the cryptocurrency XRP.”- Gottfried Leibbrandt,… pic.twitter.com/3W2zwJL9b4

— SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) July 13, 2026

Regulatory Uncertainty as a Second Barrier

Leibbrandt also addressed the legal environment. He noted that the unclear regulatory status of XRP and other cryptocurrencies made risk-averse financial institutions reluctant to act. His position was that adoption would remain unlikely until regulations became clearer.

That context matters now because the regulatory landscape around XRP has shifted considerably since Leibbrandt led SWIFT. Ripple’s legal battle with the SEC has concluded, and XRP has gained more defined legal standing in the U.S.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

The asset was classified as a commodity by the SEC and CFTC in March. The CLARITY Act, which is making its way through Congress, will further cement that status. SMQKE argues that the conditions Leibbrandt identifies as barriers are no longer the same.

What Changes the Conversation

SMQKE has recently faced backlash for his stance that SWIFT will integrate XRP. However, the significance of this new post is the sourcing. These are not anonymous claims or community speculation. They are statements from a former SWIFT CEO, on record, acknowledging XRP’s centrality to Ripple’s proposition and naming the specific conditions that stood in the way.

No partnership between SWIFT and Ripple has been announced or confirmed. But Leibbrandt’s words establish that SWIFT’s hesitancy was always rooted in circumstance, not in a rejection of XRP’s utility. As those circumstances evolve, his statements give the conversation of a potential integration a documented and credible foundation to build on.

Leibbrandt on Ripple and XRP

Leibbrandt stated clearly that XRP sits at the center of Ripple’s value proposition. “I think that the big part of Ripple’s value proposition is the cryptocurrency XRP,” he said during his tenure as CEO.
“I think that the big part of Ripple’s value proposition is the cryptocurrency XRP.”- Gottfried Leibbrandt,… pic.twitter.com/3W2zwJL9b4

The asset was classified as a commodity by the SEC and CFTC in March. The CLARITY Act, which is making its way through Congress, will further cement that status. SMQKE argues that the conditions Leibbrandt identifies as barriers are no longer the same.

The Source Changes the Conversation
