While Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s layer-2 solution launched in 2023, has become a prominent contributor to the token burn initiatives, the Shiboshis NFT project, introduced in October 2021, continues to do its part to aid the burn process, albeit less noticeably.

Shibarium Takes Center Stage in SHIB Burning Efforts

Many within the Shiba Inu community believe Shibarium offers the most effective platform for large-scale SHIB burns. This conviction stems from the significant number of tokens the layer-2 network has burned since its relaunch in August 2023. Shibarium eliminated 33 billion SHIB tokens through just four transactions by December 2023. This figure has grown to 56 billion SHIB following two additional burn transactions completed in 2024.

Given Shibarium’s ability to facilitate such substantial burns in a limited timeframe, it is understandable why the community has increasingly focused on this blockchain solution. The Shiba Inu development team is also exploring the implementation of an automated burn mechanism within Shibarium, potentially further streamlining the SHIB incineration process.

Shiboshis NFTs: A Silent Contributor to SHIB Burns

While Shibarium has captured significant attention regarding SHIB burns, the Shiboshis NFT project shouldn’t be overlooked. A unique feature of this initiative allows NFT holders to personalize their collectibles by renaming them. However, each name change incurs a 100 USD fee, with the entirety of this cost directed towards burning SHIB tokens.

After the launch of Shiboshis in October 2021, a wave of name changes by NFT holders resulted in a notable SHIB burn campaign, drawing widespread community interest. However, this initial enthusiasm subsided as the mass renaming activity tapered off.

Nevertheless, on-chain data reveals that Shiboshis NFTs have continued to contribute to SHIB burns, albeit at a less frequent pace. A recent example highlighted by members of the SHIB community involved a burn transaction of 1.883 million SHIB tokens on March 13, 2024.

This specific burn stemmed from the renaming of Shiboshis NFT #3484, purchased on the same day. Notably, the investor responsible for this burn acquired the NFT for 0.23 ETH, equivalent to roughly $768 currently.

The decreased frequency of SHIB burns through Shiboshis name changes can be attributed to a shift in investor behavior. Many holders have opted to retain their NFTs, reducing the need for renaming. However, with SHIB dominating the meme coin market, the community has to speed up token burns to help SHIB cement itself at the top of the meme coin market.

The team behind the luxury luggage and accessories brand, Bugatti continues to delve deep into the non-fungible token technology. This time around, Bugatti Group onboarded more ways holders of its unique Shiba Inu-powered Genesis NFT can put their digital collectibles to use. 

As per a Friday tweet, three new utilities were announced for the Bugatti Group Genesis NFT collection by the project team. The first and most outstanding on the list is that Bugatti Group Shiba Inu-powered Genesis NFT holders can now build their own merch line. 

Secondly, access to a distribution wallet when staking these NFTs has been enabled for Shiboshi NFT holders. Notably, Bugatti Group Shiboshi Genesis NFT holders stand the chance to earn more Travel Points to reap higher rewards when they stake the highest rarity. 

Bugatti Group wrote:

“You now earn the chance to build your own merch line + have access to a distribution wallet when staking your NFTs! Stake the highest rarity-earn the most Travel Points to reap the most rewards!”

Shiba Inu’s unique SHIBOSHI NFT Genesis collection came to life last month following a strategic partnership between the Shiba Inu team and the top luxury goods brand, Bugatti. The collection, which was sold out in less than two minutes of launch, featured 299 digital collectibles only. Each unit of the NFT was sold for 0.14 ETH. 

More so, the Bugatti Group later disclosed that a limited edition of physical items (bags) would be sent to holders of its non-fungible token, launching a portal to enable eligible holders to claim the items from their individual dashboards.

Notably, only 95% of holders would receive cross-body bags from Bugatti, while the remaining 5% would be eligible to claim physical custom carry-on luggage featuring the SHIBOSHI trademark.

According to the data shared by MILKSHAKE, a Twitter account dedicated to the Shiba Inu community, the floor price for a unit of Shiboshi surged to 1.3 ETH on DoggyDAO launch day.

Before the launch of DoggyDao on 18th February, the Shiboshi floor price had been changing hands between 1 and 1.2 ETH since the start of the year.

It can be recalled that the SHIB team announced the launch of Shiboshis back in October last year. Shiboshis is a collection of 10,000 units of non-fungible tokens that are powered by the Ethereum blockchain.

Depending on the time it’s minted, each NFT costs between 0.1 and 0.3 ETH. The first digital collectible that was minted lasted for about 34 minutes. However, the teeming members of the Shiba Inu community attempted a purchase around the same time, resulting in a significant rise in gas fees on the Ethereum blockchain. Some users had to pay around $700 in fees due to network congestion.

Now that the floor price has risen to 1.3 ETH, Shiboshis holders are now in about 1500% profit.

Why the Launch of DoggyDao Is Important

The launch of DoggyDAO will now give ShibaSwap users the ability to cast their votes with the help of tBONE tokens, which can be obtained by staking the BONE governance token. Each voting session takes five days before it’s closed.

According to the announcement, the team will be gathering community feedback before advancing with a new version.

The launch enables the community to pick new trading pairs biweekly. A total of 30 trading pairs will be added to the liquidity pools, the report added.

The developers urged the community members to do their research before giving their vote to any particular project so that risky digital currencies won’t end up on ShibaSwap.

Five Companies Involved in Burning 463.3 Million SHIB in January

According to on-chain data, the most significant burn was initiated by Brick Buster, the game available to play on Google Play Store. The game was able to burn 232 million SHIB tokens in January 2022.

The collective Shiboshi NFT contributes the second biggest burn, i.e., over 109 million tokens were burned through name changes with 58 transactions. While Bigger Entertainment came third with 103 million SHIB tokens burned.

Aside from the companies mentioned above, Shibburn tracker and ShibaSearch have also burned 100 million and 60 million SHIB tokens respectively.

Shiba Coffee Company Burned 19.8 Million SHIB

In a tweet on 1st February, Shiba Coffee Company released the total number of SHIB tokens it burned in January 2022.

In the report, the Coffee Company stated that they were able to burn a total of 19.8 million SHIB tokens with the help of the teeming Shiba Inu community members.

In the tweet, the Coffee Company also included the link and screenshot of the burn transactions to serve as proof.
