John McAfee Is Alive In Texas

In June 2021, it was reported that McAfee hanged himself inside a Spanish cell while awaiting extradition to the United States on tax evasion charges. However, his Belizean ex-girlfriend Samantha Herrera has claimed he faked his own death and moved to reside in Texas.

In a recent Netflix documentary titled “Running With the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee,” Herrera said, “I don’t know if I should say, but two weeks ago, after his death, I got a call from Texas: ‘It’s me, John. I paid off people to pretend that I am dead, but I am not dead.”

Herrera also said McAfee told her that only three people know he’s not dead as widely reported and then asked her to abscond with him.

According to Herrera, she started dating McAfee in San Pedro, Belize, when she was 18. They both fled the country after the suspicious death of his neighbor, Gregory Faull.

Speaking about why McAfee was on the run, she said, “His side of the story is that they’re after him because he didn’t pay off the government. They wanted to hurt him, to get rid of him.”

John McAfee’s Accusations, Arrest, and Suicide

After years of weird behavior and legal troubles, McAfee was apprehended at Barcelona’s airport in October 2020 for tax evasion charges filed by a Tennessee court. He was held in jail to await the outcome of his extradition hearings.

McAfee was also accused of intentionally failing to file tax returns for money he made from promoting cryptocurrency, speaking, consulting, and selling the right to a documentary about his life.

In March 2021, he was also charged with securities fraud and money laundering after allegedly using his Twitter handle to defraud unsuspecting investors of millions of dollars.

The reported suicide played out hours after Spain’s National Court approved McAfee’s extradition to face charges in the United States, which could make him spend up to 30 years in prison.
