Key Features of Daedalus v7.0.0  

The new Daedalus version announced on December 10, 2024, focuses on improving Cardano’s governance framework. It introduces a mechanism allowing ADA holders to delegate their voting power to designated representatives (DReps), who act on behalf of the community in governance decisions.

Additionally, Daedalus v7.0.0 provides an option for users to select an automatic voting mode, which includes abstention or a “no confidence” stance. This ensures that all ADA wallet holders, regardless of their level of engagement, have a say in governance matters.

Guidance for Current and New Users

Existing Daedalus users will receive a prompt to upgrade through the software’s built-in newsfeed. A new voting tab has been added, allowing users to register their preferences for governance participation across all wallets linked to Daedalus.

To safeguard against fraudulent activity, IOG emphasizes the importance of downloading Daedalus only from official Cardano channels. Community members are encouraged to verify all updates and announcements to avoid falling victim to scams.

Cardano Constitution Referendum Scheduled for January 2025

The new development was announced on 3rd February via the official Twitter handle of Input Output Global (IOG). According to the report, the new Daedalus wallet integrates the latest version of Cardano wallet, which brings a significant performance improvement.

Going by the report, the latest version fixes minor bugs and refurbishes the user interface for a seamless experience.

The upgrade introduces a splash screen and gives users an option to add another configuration to the Cardano node runtime system. Although this option is only available to computers with less than 16GB ram, it reduces memory usage and sends prompts for system requirements.

The new Daedalus wallet also fixes issues such as blockchain verification progress by ensuring that syncing is correctly displayed for an enhanced user experience.

In the announcement, the software firm led by Charles Hoskinson sternly warned users that Daedalus is a full-node wallet and is only available to desktop users. The firm says any mobile version of Daedalus is a scam designed by con artists to steal users’ funds.

IOG continued, “For computers with less than 16GB of RAM, a new splash screen is displayed, with an option to enable the Cardano node runtime system (RTS), which can reduce memory usage, and a reminder about the recommended hardware requirements for Daedalus.

IOG further urged users to upgrade their Daedalus to the latest version to avoid interruption of operation once the Alonzo hard fork goes live in relatively 2 days’ time:

Binance Announces Support for Alonzo Mainnet Launch

On 9th September, Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume announced the support for the much-awaited Alonzo Hard Fork combinator event.

According to the announcement, starting from 2021-09-12 21:44 (UTC), Binance will suspend deposits and withdrawals of the digital token ADA. Although in the course of the upgrade, trading of Cardano (ADA) will not be affected.
