]]> With an increase of about 300% in the Total Value Locked (TVL) on the Cardano ecosystem between January and June 2023, ADA has been primed by analysts to perform appreciably in the coming weeks or months.

According to data extracted from DeFiLama, the largest TVL aggregator for DeFi (Decentralized Finance), a whopping $181.09 million in value has been locked on the Cardano blockchain as of June 3 at the time of writing. Compared to the total value locked as of January 1 which stood at $48.95 million, an additional $132.14 in value has been directed to the blockchain ecosystem in the last 5 months.

This further indicates a growing interest in the smart contract-enabled blockchain ecosystem which could result in huge investments being channeled to ADA, the native currency of the Cardano blockchain. In turn, the price of ADA could rally. 

Cardano (ADA) Price Analysis 

A close look at some technical indicators on the ADA/ USDT price chart indicates a possible short-term rally in the price of the 7th-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. 

In particular, ADA’s 30-day moving average (yellow) is on the verge of falling below its 200-day moving average (blue) as seen on the chart. If this plays out, then the altcoin could begin rising again in price.

On the other hand, its Relative Strength Index (RSI) has started to gain momentum above the “30” point, indicating a rising buying pressure on ADA. Another bullish indicator is the fact that ADA recently rebounded at its $0.362 support line as seen on the chart, signaling a reversal from its prevailing downward movement. 

This rebound which happened with a considerable buy volume is primed to take ADA’s price up by roughly 4% to $0.3760 in a short-term perspective. But at the time of writing, ADA is up 3.62% in the past 7 days while boasting a market capitalization of $13.12 billion.

]]> Charles Hoskinson, the CEO of IOG and creator of Cardano, has recently noted that ADA’s Total Value Locked (TVL) would have been worth billions of dollars if holders’ staked tokens were counted.

According to Hoskinson in a recent tweet, if all the staked ADA were counted, Cardano’s TVL would have surpassed $19 billion. Stressing on why they are not counted, the mathematician pointed out that it’s not mandatory for users to lock their tokens before staking them.

Charles Hoskinson tweeted, “Fun Fact, if you counted the staked Ada, cardano’s TVL would be over 19 billion dollars. Why don’t we count it? Because you don’t need to lock your Ada to stake it.”

Cardano’s TVL Still hovering around $200 Million

Despite the launch of Alonzo in September 2021, which activated smart contracts functionality on Cardano, and the positive results that followed, the total value locked is still far from hitting $1 billion.

The launch of the Cardano-based decentralized exchange (DEX) SundaeSwap brought lots of positivity in terms of the number of locked ADA. After the launch, Cardano TVL surged from $0 to over $200 million in less than four months.

Moreover, on the 24th of April, Cardano TVL surged to its all-time high of $326 million, according to DeFi Llama. Howbeit, the value locked later experienced a notable drop after the price of ADA dipped below $1, the price level it has maintained for the most part of the year.

At the time of press, Cardano’s TVL is standing at $202.87 million. The data shows that the value has dropped by 9.13% over the last 24 hours.

ADA Whale Expects Cardano TVL to Fly in 2022

In a recent tweet, a pseudonymous Cardano enthusiast, ADA Whale, highlighted developments that will make the total value locked on the blockchain grow even further.

In the tweet, he said the Cardano community should expect all these developments in the next three to six months as some projects that are to launch on Cardano already announced that their solutions are scheduled to roll out before the end of 2022.

ADA Whale tweeted, “Agree. Cardano TVL will fly when we have 1 stable coins 2 wrapped BTC 3 lending+synthetics 4 hardware wallet support 5 DEXes with limited impermanent loss 6 ADA on-chain staking support (risk-free hurdle rate) 7 high throughput All boxes will be checked in 0-6 months, most 0-3m.”

Stablecoins are one of the most important assets for any blockchain because they serve as a bridge between traditional finance and the crypto ecosystem.

In the case of Cardano, the release of stablecoins is expected to bring billions worth of funds to the blockchain project, which would bolster its capability to compete with other chains, such as Ethereum, Tron, among others.

On ADA Whale’s list, the wrapped version of Bitcoin is also important to make Cardano more competitive in the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector. This is also expected to go live on the network soon.

According to the Cardano enthusiast in a tweet, the TVL on Cardano is going into the billions soon, as more projects prepare to launch on top of the blockchain this year.

In the tweet, ADA Whale shared the reason for the predicted value. He referenced the transaction speed and the level of decentralization of the network as part of the reasons for believing in the future prospects of Cardano.

ADA Whale tweeted, “TVL going into the billions soon Speeds as fast as Solunavax. More decentralised than all BFT chains Already rich in DEXes. Alternatives for Compound, Anchor, AAVE etc lined up. A community evidently ready to bootstrap its own DeFi growth. Cardano is about to bring the pain.”

At the time of publication, according to DeFi Llama, Cardano’s total value locked stands at $235.99 million. And Miniswap currently dominates with 52.57% of the total value locked (TVL), dethroning SundaeSwap.

What’s Total Value Locked for DeFi Protocol?

According to Binance Academy, Total Value Locked (TVL) for decentralized finance (DeFI) protocol is the aggregate amount of funds locked into that protocol. For example, the TVL locked in Ethereum projects is measured in ETH or USD.

The first usable DeFi application on Cardano was launched back in January after launching via an under-the-radar offering. The platform, MuesliSwap, has seen its total value locked grow to $12.6 million. Ahead of it comes Meld (MELD), with over $72 million in TVL.
