Why ADA Whale Is So Confident In Cardano?

Cardano is currently working on a network overhauling upgrade, Vasil hard fork, which is targeted at boosting the speed and scalability of the largest Proof of Stake (PoS) blockchain.

The Vasil upgrade is planned to go live on the mainnet on the 29th of June 2022. Back in April, Charles Hoskinson, the creator of Cardano and CEO of Input Output Global (IOG), released a video where he spoke on the significance of the upcoming hard fork to the Cardano network.

Also on the 1st of February, the director of Cardano Architecture at IOG, shared a post in which he described what pipelining means for the blockchain:

According to ADA Whale, he was of the opinion that there will be issues but Cardano will still welcome lots of decentralized applications (Dapps) in the first half of the year 2022.

In the same thread of tweets, the diehard Cardano fan stated that the growth and development recorded by the blockchain project this year has justified his stance.

Meanwhile, Cardano has earmarked 11 different ways to scale in 2022, which include but are not limited to improvements in memory and CPU parameters for Plutus, block size increases, pipelining, input endorsers, node enhancements, on-disk storage, sidechains, the Layer 2 Hydra scaling solution, offloading computation and the Mithril solution.

Also, Cardano creator Charles Hoskinson recently shared that there has been a 369% rise in the daily on-chain transaction volume for Cardano as compared to other chains that had notable declines in this aspect.

Cardano (ADA) Whale Transactions Hit 4-Month High

According to on-chain analytics firm Santiment, ADA whale (wallets with over $100,000 worth of ADA) transactions surged to 1,085 earlier this month, the largest increase seen since January 2022.

As related by Santiment, there were tons of transactions initiated by Cardano whales during the major market downturn, which indicated that whales were trying to leverage the dip, believing that the market will recover in the long run.

Santiment tweeted, “Cardano’s whales showed a flurry of transactions yesterday as prices were bottoming out to $0.40, between 8am and 12pm UTC. These spikes have very commonly indicated price direction changes for ADA, and we’re monitoring further whale activity closely.”

It’s worth noting that Cardano (ADA) investors have somewhat been holding their assets throughout the bear market, unlike when they were busy selling ADA. The spike in whale transactions came after ADA bag holders started accumulating once again about five weeks ago.

Also, data from Coinbase’s price pages shows that ADA has a typical hold time of 121 days. This implies that Cardano users on the platform hold onto their assets for over four months before selling them or sending them to another account or address.

According to the crypto exchange, a long hold time signals an accumulation trend, while a short hold time indicates an increase in the movement of tokens.

Stablecoins are one of the most important assets for any blockchain because they serve as a bridge between traditional finance and the crypto ecosystem.

At the time of publication, according to DeFi Llama, Cardano’s total value locked stands at $235.99 million. And Miniswap currently dominates with 52.57% of the total value locked (TVL), dethroning SundaeSwap.

What’s Total Value Locked for DeFi Protocol?

According to Binance Academy, Total Value Locked (TVL) for decentralized finance (DeFI) protocol is the aggregate amount of funds locked into that protocol. For example, the TVL locked in Ethereum projects is measured in ETH or USD.

The first usable DeFi application on Cardano was launched back in January after launching via an under-the-radar offering. The platform, MuesliSwap, has seen its total value locked grow to $12.6 million. Ahead of it comes Meld (MELD), with over $72 million in TVL.
