Ripple CEO and David Schwartz Said the Quiet Part About XRP On Camera

XRP’s long-term position took center stage in a video featuring Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and XRPL co-creator David Schwartz, with both executives discussing how they expect blockchain technology and XRP to develop over the coming years.

Crypto enthusiast Archie drew attention to the conversation, particularly Garlinghouse’s five-year outlook for XRP and Schwartz’s suggestion that financial infrastructure built on blockchain could arrive even sooner.

Garlinghouse Describes XRP’s Role

During the interview, BankXRP asked Garlinghouse to explain Ripple, XRP and the company’s progress without relying on previously published information. Garlinghouse described Ripple as a blockchain infrastructure company focused on solving transaction challenges.

He said the company began with payments before expanding into corporate treasury services and prime brokerage. He also described XRP as a foundational technology across Ripple’s activities, while stressing that the asset would not fit every use case.

Garlinghouse said Ripple would prioritize XRP wherever it makes sense because doing so benefits the company. At the same time, he acknowledged that fiat currencies and stablecoins such as RLUSD could serve other customer requirements.

He also discussed Ripple’s transaction volumes. According to Garlinghouse, the company’s customer revenue base increased from $300 million to $900 million, while Ripple processed $16 trillion in transaction value during the previous year. He said approximately 99.9% of that volume still used traditional rails.

Garlinghouse expressed hope that one to three percent of that activity could move to blockchain-based rails in the following year, describing even that shift as significant because of the size of the underlying transaction market.

XRP’s Five-Year Outlook

When BankXRP asked where XRP and Ripple could be in five years, Garlinghouse gave a direct answer.

He said he believes XRP will continue to establish itself as the “institutional gold standard for crypto rails.” He then described a broader future for blockchain technology, predicting mass retail adoption within five years.

Garlinghouse said blockchain could become comparable to the internet in terms of accessibility, with people using it to manage money, receive payments, invest and access lending and borrowing services.

His comments place XRP within a wider financial infrastructure transition rather than limiting its potential role to payments alone.

Schwartz Suggests the Shift Could Come Sooner

Schwartz added his own perspective immediately after Garlinghouse discussed the five-year outlook. Rather than placing the development of blockchain-based financial infrastructure entirely five years into the future, Schwartz said it could happen “probably in three years.”

He also connected mass adoption to developments already taking place around real-world assets. Schwartz said tokenization could help enable broader retail adoption by bringing blockchain technology into more conventional financial activities.

The video, originally captured by BankXRP, therefore presents both executives discussing a future in which blockchain becomes increasingly integrated into everyday financial activity, with XRP positioned as an important part of that transition.
