Ripple CEO Drops Bombshell XRP Statement That Stuns XRP Army

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse used his opening remarks at Swell 2026 to directly address and dismiss claims that the company has been moving away from XRP in favor of its stablecoin, RLUSD.

The rumors had gained enough traction that Garlinghouse chose to confront them publicly. He stated without ambiguity that Ripple would never take any action considered harmful to the XRP ecosystem.

Addressing the XRP and RLUSD Relationship

Garlinghouse acknowledged that Ripple’s growing activity around RLUSD had led some to conclude that XRP was being deprioritized. He rejected that interpretation entirely, stating, “We will never give up on XRP.” He described the two assets as complementary rather than competing.

He also pointed to the strong momentum currently surrounding XRP as evidence that the speculation does not reflect the company’s actual direction.

Five Years of SEC Litigation Behind Them

From 2020 to 2025, Ripple was engaged in a legal dispute with the SEC. With that resolved, the company has refocused on regulatory engagement and institutional growth.

Garlinghouse identified the GENIUS Act as the key turning point. He credited coordinated action from the SEC and CFTC with providing institutional participants the legal clarity needed to engage with the space confidently. This effectively ended the basis for prolonged speculation about XRP’s future.

Massive XRP Milestones

Ripple’s financial report shows the scale of its current operations. The company has reached an annual product revenue run rate of $900 million and has processed transactions totaling $16 trillion.

The goal is to move significant off-chain treasury and brokerage volumes onto the XRP Ledger. In this setup, XRP serves as the primary settlement mechanism for international liquidity.

Institutional Adoption Grows Threefold

Multi-product integrations with major financial institutions have grown threefold. BNY, HSBC, DBS, and Standard Chartered are among those that have expanded their engagement with Ripple.

BNY has gone further by launching a trade finance tokenization project built directly on the XRP Ledger. This represents a concrete operational commitment rather than exploratory interest.

Ripple National Trust Bank

The OCC approved Ripple’s application to establish Ripple National Trust Bank as a federally chartered institution. This has allowed RLUSD to participate in on-chain repurchase agreement markets and enabled listings on Coinbase, Robinhood, Binance, Kraken, and OKX.

Skeptics Proven Wrong as Ripple Advances

Despite a slow October across the broader market, Ripple’s leadership remains confident. Garlinghouse noted that repeated forecasts about XRP’s irrelevance have consistently failed to match reality.

The company’s focus has shifted from defending against speculation to demonstrating active integration with established global financial institutions. XRP has remained central to its long-term strategy.
