Pantera Capital founder and CEO, Dan Morehead, has given XRP supporters another reference point for Ripple’s ambitions in the global payments sector.
During an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Morehead identified Ripple’s efforts against SWIFT as one of several major use cases that could shape the cryptocurrency industry. Crypto enthusiast Amelie shared the clip on X and connected Morehead’s remarks directly to her bullish outlook for XRP.
Morehead Connects Ripple With SWIFT
The CNBC segment examined blockchain development and the potential for newer networks to offer different capabilities from established cryptocurrencies.
Morehead discussed Solana’s transaction capacity. He said Solana could process up to 9 billion transactions per day, more than all capital markets activity combined.
The conversation then moved toward other potential applications for blockchain technology. Morehead pointed to Ripple when he discussed networks pursuing specific financial use cases.
“There might be other use cases, you know, like Ripple’s going after SWIFT,” Morehead said.
He then described Bitcoin as “digital gold” and identified several major use cases across the cryptocurrency industry. Morehead also emphasized Solana’s performance as a blockchain, describing the network as highly capable in terms of transaction processing.
Amelie focused on Morehead’s reference to Ripple and SWIFT when she shared the video. She wrote, “Even CNBC admits that Ripple is going after SWIFT.” She followed the statement with a direct XRP prediction, writing, “XRP is a done deal”

XRP Supporters Recall Ripple’s Earlier Challenges
The post also received a response from $XRPARMY, which placed Morehead’s comments within the history of Ripple and XRP.
$XRPARMY compared the current period with the 2017–2020 cycle and recalled how CNBC previously covered Ripple’s efforts in relation to SWIFT. The commenter said XRP supporters viewed that development as an important sign of Ripple’s ambitions in international payments.
The response then referenced the SEC lawsuit against Ripple. $XRPARMY said the regulatory case interrupted that earlier period and kept XRP under pressure for several years.
The commenter also pointed to a major difference between the two periods. The SEC lawsuit has now ended, while Ripple continued developing its payment infrastructure during the legal dispute. $XRPARMY therefore described the current period as a continuation of developments that began before the regulatory case disrupted the previous cycle.

Ripple’s Payments Strategy Remains Central
Morehead’s comments do not establish that Ripple will replace SWIFT, but they show that he views Ripple’s pursuit of the global payments sector as a distinct blockchain use case.
Amelie interpreted the CNBC remark as further confirmation of her conviction in XRP. Her post links Ripple’s payments ambitions with XRP and presents the development as part of a broader case for the asset’s long-term relevance.
The distinction between Ripple and XRP remains important, however. Morehead specifically discussed Ripple’s efforts in the payments sector, while Amelie linked those efforts to XRP in her post. That connection remains a key part of the discussion around XRP as investors assess Ripple’s expanding role in financial infrastructure.
