Coinbase XRP Whales Are Still Blocking the Rise. Here’s What They Are Doing

XRP is facing significant resistance across major exchange order books, with large sell orders reportedly positioned at several key price levels.

Crypto investor and data analyst CW highlighted this activity in a post on X, stating that Coinbase whales are “still blocking the rise” by maintaining a sell wall at $1.50. According to CW, additional sell walls appear at $1.70, $1.75, and $1.80, with Binance whales responsible for those higher levels.

The observation focuses on order book depth and the concentration of limit sell orders above XRP’s current trading range. If these orders remain in place, buyers could face difficulty pushing the token through the identified resistance levels.

$1.50 Coinbase Sell Wall Takes Center Stage

CW specifically identified the $1.50 level on Coinbase as the most immediate obstacle. A sell wall occurs when a large volume of limit sell orders accumulates around a particular price, creating substantial available supply for buyers to absorb.

In this case, CW said Coinbase whales are directly preventing XRP from rising by placing significant selling pressure at $1.50. The level also carries psychological significance because round-number prices often attract increased trading activity and can become important technical resistance points.

A large sell wall does not necessarily prove that whales intend to suppress the price. Large orders can reflect profit-taking, distribution, liquidity management, or attempts to accumulate at lower prices. Traders also need to distinguish genuine liquidity from potential spoofing, where large orders may be placed and later canceled without being executed.

Binance Adds Resistance Above $1.50

CW also pointed to Binance, where sell walls reportedly sit at $1.70, $1.75, and $1.80. These levels create additional resistance if XRP moves beyond the Coinbase wall.

Crypto Cholo, responding to CW’s post, suggested that the Coinbase wall may be intended to keep XRP lower while larger holders accumulate additional positions. He also said the Binance walls could represent sellers preparing to take profits if XRP breaks higher.

That interpretation remains speculative, however, because order book data alone cannot establish the intentions of individual traders. Liquidity absorption will ultimately determine whether buyers can consume the available supply.

XRP Buyers Face a Test of Demand

If buyers absorb the $1.50 sell wall, attention would likely shift toward the higher resistance levels identified on Binance. A move through $1.70 could then focus on $1.75 and $1.80, making sustained buying volume important for any attempt to advance through the range.

Exchange spreads and arbitrage activity can also influence how liquidity develops across Coinbase and Binance. For now, CW’s analysis centers on the concentration of sell orders and their potential impact on XRP’s price movement.
