ChartNerd (@ChartNerdTA), a prominent technical analyst, flagged XRP as “now in overbought territory” in a new post after the token’s sharp rally from below $1 to $1.40. His chart shows a Stochastic RSI at 100 and an RSI at 83.63, both deep in overbought conditions.
The candles tell the same story, showing a near-vertical climb off the $0.98 low, with the price printing a high of around $1.42. It traded at $1.40190 when the post went live.
What Drove the Rally?
XRP spent most of August grinding near $1, beaten down by months of selling pressure and legislative uncertainty around the CLARITY Act. That trend changed fast, following the White House crypto summit on August 19, where Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse joined President Trump, SEC Chair Paul Atkins, and CFTC Chair Michael Selig.
The administration used the meeting to push Congress toward passing the CLARITY Act, which would establish clear regulatory boundaries between the SEC and CFTC over digital assets. The summit acted as a trigger. XRP jumped 12% on the day, supported by $5.81 million in spot XRP ETF inflows.
By August 20, XRP had surged 30% from its weekly low, breaking a year-long downtrend and reclaiming its 50-day EMA for the first time in over three months.

Traders Take Sides
Sentiment in the replies ranged from optimism to outright skepticism. One commenter called $1.60 as the next stop before any major pullback. Another questioned whether a pullback was even coming, pointing to a Fair Value Gap on the chart as a reason for continued bullish structure.
Not everyone shared that confidence. One commenter predicted a crash. Another suggested a pullback was due before XRP attempts to break through $1.50.
The skepticism extended beyond price calls. One user expressed deep frustration with crypto analysts generally, arguing that after a year of predictions, nobody actually knows what will happen, and told people to redirect their focus elsewhere. ChartNerd responded with an old post, pointing to his earlier projection of the decline below $1 as evidence his calls had been on record well in advance.

Where XRP Goes Now
The $1.50 level is the most-watched resistance. ChartNerd says the rally is still active, but he wants further confirmation before committing to a continued move higher. Several community members suggest $1.60 is the next significant test before any major pullback, but the overbought conditions could cause a pullback before XRP hits that level.
