Ubisoft Partners with The Sandbox to Bring Game Franchises into Ethereum-Based Metaverse Game World

Ubisoft, a major video game publisher, has announced a partnership with The Sandbox, to bring its game franchises into the Ethereum-based metaverse game world.

According to the report, Ubisoft will have its own LAND plot in the shared online world of The Sandbox. After securing the land, the company can then monetize it at will.

The report added that the video game publisher will launch its interactive space in The Sandbox with its Rabbids franchise, which will bring in blocky recreations of the goofy, rabbit-like alien creatures that users can leverage within the VoxEdit and Game Maker tools of the game.

Ubisoft is also planning to bring other IP from its popular gaming franchises into The Sandbox. The publisher’s top video game IP are Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. However, the additional IP that will enter The Sandbox is yet to be announced.

Speaking to Decrypt, Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, said:

“The Sandbox is welcoming all creators alike, whether born in web3 or already established game studios. We’re pleased to see a company such as Ubisoft embrace the values of decentralization and let fans play with the Rabbids in novel experiences owned by their creators. The moment aligns with our mission to build the open metaverse, where everyone is welcome.”

About the Sandbox

The Sandbox is a virtual world where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences on the Ethereum blockchain.

The Sandbox is designed to disrupt existing game makers such as Minecraft and Roblox by providing creators with true ownership of their creations as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and rewarding them for their participation in the ecosystem.

The Ethereum-based metaverse game enables anyone to purchase LAND plots sold as NFT assets. Users can then build interactive experiences on top of the purchased digital land, and even monetize the land as they deem fit. Players on the Sandbox can also buy and sell NFTs, as well as utilize external NFT assets.
