He highlighted the opacity that issuers face today when trying to determine the status of shares.

Atkins highlighted the prospect of faster settlement. He pointed to the potential to move from multi-day to same-day transactions. He said on-chain Delivery versus Payment (DvP) could cut risk in clearance and settlement. He views tokenization as a way to modernize market operations. This opinion has drawn the attention of the XRP army.

XRP’s Potential Role in this System

X Finance Bull linked Atkins’s remarks to XRP. He stated that major institutions will not “run tokenized markets on hype chains.” He said they will choose enterprise systems, asserting that the XRP Ledger fits that profile.

X Finance Bull (@Xfinancebull), a prominent crypto analyst, recently highlighted these surging metrics, noting that RWA volume has risen by 84%, and stablecoin volume is up 83% in just 30 days. He added that the spike followed the GTreasury and Evernorth $1 billion XRP treasury announcements, pointing to a sharp rise in institutional engagement.

The total value of RWAs now stands at $365.39 million, an increase of 4.34%, and the RWA holder count has reached 2,025. The platform currently supports 22 real-world assets and five stablecoins, with the stablecoin market cap now totaling $282.79 million, representing nearly 6% increase from the previous month.

A Surge Linked to Institutional Activity

The sharp increase in activity comes shortly after high-profile treasury-related announcements. The timing aligns closely with the growing use of tokenized treasury instruments on the XRPL.

The data dashboard shows leading contributors to tokenized value, including the OpenEden TBILL Vault at $83.86 million, VERT’s 94th CRA tranches totaling more than $90 million combined, and offerings from Montis Group Limited and Ondo’s Short-Term U.S. Government Bond Fund.

These assets reflect a trend of traditional financial instruments being issued and traded natively on-chain through the XRPL.

Expanding Institutional Confidence

The XRPL’s rise in both RWA and stablecoin activity indicates expanding confidence among institutional users. The platform’s design for high-speed, low-cost settlement has long been viewed as suitable for large-scale financial applications.

]]> Ripple has announced a $200,000 initiative inviting cybersecurity experts to identify vulnerabilities in its forthcoming XRPL lending protocol.

Coin Bureau shared the news on X, revealing that the company has partnered with Immunefi to organize an “Attackathon,” designed to improve the resilience of the XRP Ledger through community-driven testing and responsible disclosure.

Collaboration with Immunefi

The event, run through the Immunefi platform, will take place over several weeks. According to Immunefi’s program details, it will include an initial education phase starting October 13, followed by an active testing window from October 27 to November 29, 2025.

Participants will be given access to documentation, test environments, and technical support from Ripple’s engineers. The bug bounty covers more than 35,000 lines of C++ code that make up the new lending protocol.

Rewards will depend on the severity and validity of the discovered issues. If at least one confirmed vulnerability is identified, the full $200,000 fund will be distributed among contributors. If no major bugs are found, a fallback pool of $30,000 will be awarded to participants who submit legitimate but lower-severity findings. All payouts will be made in Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD.

Goals of the XRPL Lending Protocol

Ripple’s XRPL Lending Protocol aims to bring native lending functionality to the ledger. The protocol will enable fixed-term, uncollateralized loans and manage liquidity directly within the ledger’s infrastructure. It is designed to rely on off-chain credit assessment and a native vault system to handle capital and loan management.

According to information from Immunefi and Ripple’s public documentation, the testing effort will focus on specific areas, such as liquidation logic, interest calculation, clawback and deepfreeze features, permissioned access control, and vault operations. These are critical functions that could affect the stability or integrity of the lending system if left untested.

Expanding XRPL’s Institutional Capabilities

Ripple’s collaboration with Immunefi aligns with its broader strategy to evolve XRP beyond payments into lending and other decentralized financial applications. The company has previously stated that institutional DeFi will play an increasing role in its product roadmap.

Security validation through external audits and bug bounties is essential for building institutional trust in these new services. The XRPL validator community will eventually vote on whether to activate the lending protocol on the main network.

In David Schwartz’s 2018 article, he described how “soft censorship,” which is the intentional exclusion or delay of legitimate transactions, is treated differently in various blockchain models.

He noted that while soft censorship is inherent in proof-of-work systems such as Bitcoin due to their competitive mining structure, the XRP Ledger only tolerates it if network participants collectively choose to accept such behavior. This distinction, according to Schwartz, gives the XRP Ledger a degree of accountability that proof-of-work systems cannot easily replicate.

Because validators’ actions are cryptographically verifiable, users can see if certain transactions are consistently excluded, identifying which validators are responsible. This transparency not only deters malicious behavior but also strengthens the trust framework necessary for the XRP Ledger’s decentralized exchange to operate effectively.

Suitability for Censorship-Sensitive Use Cases

VET’s statement highlights how this aspect of the XRP Ledger enables it to target use cases that demand high resistance to soft censorship. Proof-of-work networks, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, face structural challenges in guaranteeing immediate and provable censorship resistance.

In contrast, the XRP Ledger’s consensus design provides real-time detection of validator misbehavior, making it more suitable for applications where the reliable inclusion of transactions is essential, such as decentralized trading and payments.

This difference, as VET pointed out, is not easily conveyed without technical understanding. The XRP Ledger’s consensus protocol is complex, and explaining its layered safeguards against censorship requires familiarity with cryptographic validation, voting mechanisms, and principles of distributed agreement.

A Differentiated Model in Blockchain Design

By referencing David Schwartz’s earlier discussion, VET reaffirmed that the XRP Ledger’s consensus model is not only about efficiency or speed but also about governance transparency and the ability to expose any attempts at manipulation. Instead of relying on custom smart contracts, the XRPL now integrates compliance and control features directly into its protocol, expanding its appeal in Decentralized Finance (DeFi). Dr. Martin Hiesboeck, head of research at Uphold, explained that this standard addresses operational risks that have hindered other platforms.

By embedding essential tools into the base layer of the ledger, the amendment reduces the complexity and cost of developing compliant financial products.

Compliance Built into the Protocol

The MPT standard introduces features essential for regulated entities. It includes mechanisms for freezing assets, fund clawbacks, and identity-linked transfer restrictions. Hiesboeck noted that these functions enable issuers to align quickly with sanctions or recover assets in cases of fraud or error.

Another key feature is the use of decentralized identifiers and credentials, which ensure only verified participants can hold or transfer certain assets. This strengthens trust in the system while meeting regulatory demands. Additionally, every token returned to its issuer is automatically removed from circulation, creating a transparent and auditable supply record.

Technical Strengths for Financial Institutions

The standard is structured to serve high-volume settlement environments. It benefits from the XRPL’s speed, offering transactions completed in 3 to 5 seconds with very low fees. Each transaction fee is paid in XRP, which is then permanently destroyed, linking network usage to the reduction of XRP supply.

MPT also provides a metadata field supporting formats like XLS-0089d and the Actus Standard. This enables tokens to carry machine-readable contractual data, such as maturity dates or settlement terms. The integration reduces the need for external reconciliation systems, making the XRPL a more attractive infrastructure for regulated finance.

Direct Impact on XRP’s Utility

The adoption of MPT ties XRP more closely to real-world financial activity. Every issuance and transfer consumes a small amount of XRP, while reserves are locked to create and maintain token objects. These functions reduce circulating supply and link XRP’s value to measurable financial operations rather than speculation alone.

Hiesboeck emphasized that this shift strengthens XRP’s role as a utility asset. He stated that MPT was created to meet the compliance expectations of institutions and designed to operate on a global scale. With tokenized real-world assets projected to represent trillions of dollars in value, the XRPL is positioning itself as a secure and compliant platform for institutional adoption.

In its update, XRPScan stated, “The number of accounts currently active on XRPL crossed 7 million mark today,” and included a screenshot from its distribution dashboard to highlight the milestone.

The shared image displays a precise figure of 7,000,768 active accounts and outlines further details on supply and ledger metrics. Among the statistics shown, the maximum supply remains at 100,000,000,000 XRP, while the total available supply is listed at 99,985,797,573 XRP.

It also shows that 14,202,427 XRP have been permanently burned, 35,308,793,467 XRP are currently held in escrow, and the circulating supply stands at 64,662,801,679 XRP.

Defining Active Accounts

In the thread,  in response to a question from an X user, Val, who asked, “What is the criteria to be currently active?” XRPScan answered, “Basic criteria is to maintain the minimum balance required, which is 1 XRP as of now.” This explanation confirms that the designation of “active” is based on an account holding at least the minimum balance necessary to exist on the ledger.

The clarification indicates that activity, as reported in the snapshot, is not measured by transaction frequency or usage levels but by whether accounts maintain the required reserve. With the reserve set at 1 XRP, any account meeting that threshold is considered part of the active account total recorded by XRPScan.

Significance of the Report

The data shared by XRPScan represents a straightforward update on network conditions as recorded by its explorer. By specifying that the minimum balance requirement forms the basis of the “active” designation, XRPScan provides clarity on how it defines account activity in the context of its reporting.
