Wietse Wind, the founder and developer of Xaman wallet, has issued a major warning to the XRP community. A verified X account posted content promoting “XMN,” a supposed token tied to the Xaman wallet.

The post used official Xaman branding and claimed that token claims would go live on the XRPL Network, with an allocation checker already live. Wind labeled it a scam immediately and clarified that “there is no Xaman token. There will not be a Xaman token.”

Hijacked Accounts and Borrowed Credibility

What makes this case particularly notable is the source of the fraudulent post. The account used belongs to Arlington ISD, a verified X account, suggesting scammers gained unauthorized access to it.

The verification badge lent the post another layer of credibility. Scammers regularly exploit trusted accounts to push fake token launches and airdrops at audiences who have no reason to be suspicious.

Wind has repeatedly raised this kind of alarm. He previously called out impersonators on X, and the Xaman team actively reports these accounts and sites. However, new ones continue to emerge.

A Pattern Across the XRP Community

This is not the first time a fake Xaman token has appeared. The XMN post is one instance in a pattern that has grown more aggressive throughout 2026. In South Korea, authorities apprehended a group that stole 3.4 million XRP, worth approximately 12.3 billion won ($8.55 million), from 71 victims. The scheme exploited trust in the ecosystem to defraud individuals at scale.

Earlier in the year, Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz issued a separate warning about a coordinated scam effort targeting XRPL users. That campaign used fake airdrops, giveaways, and impersonation to steal assets from market participants.

The tactics vary, but the goal stays the same. Scammers manufacture urgency, borrow legitimate branding, and push users to act before they think.

How to Stay Safe

Wind’s advice is the same as it has always been. Do not sign any transaction you do not trust. Do not interact with accounts promising free tokens or airdrops. Xaman has no desktop wallet, no browser extension, and no token. Any post claiming otherwise is a scam.

Verify all information through official channels before taking any action. When in doubt, go directly to official websites and pages. Report suspicious accounts and domains to the platform. Vigilance remains the strongest defense available to any XRP holder right now.

The XRP Ledger (XRPL), a decentralized blockchain widely used for payments and decentralized finance, faced what appeared to be a partial service disruption. Wietse Wind, a well-known developer in the XRPL ecosystem, reported the issue on X.

According to Wind, all full-history servers operated by him and others were down, and Ripple’s cluster was reportedly unable to identify the current ledger.

What’s Happening to the XRPL?

The XRP Ledger prides itself on high reliability, decentralization, and seamless performance. The report is expected to attract attention, given the importance of the network to developers, businesses, and users.

Wind stated, “We see all Full History servers operated by us and others down, and Ripple’s cluster is also reporting having no current ledger. Investigating.”

Following Wind’s post, reactions from the XRPL community varied. One user dismissed the claims as fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD), asserting, “Never went down for me.” Wind defended the validity of his observations by replying, “You call it whatever you want, just reporting facts.”

Wietse Wind’s fresh comments about the XRP Ledger native token show that no code can be written to transform XRP into a stablecoin. This he said in response to a user who asked about the possibility of XRP becoming a stablecoin.

Per a Wednesday Twitter discussion, the XUMM Wallet lead developer noted that “XRP already is a stable coin”, stating that 1 XRP equals 1 XRP. The stability of XRP here, as implied by him, is not in terms of price but in the sense that the token does not rely on another blockchain to be functional. He wrote, “XRP lives on its own network. There can’t be price in the protocol on the network, because: price vs what?”

However, Wietse Wind highlighted some conditions that could transform XRP into a stablecoin with no price fluctuations. According to him, the dollar value of XRP cannot be stable because users offer varying prices for the crypto asset.

Hence, he implied that for XRP to be stable, all crypto traders interacting with the coin must offer a stable price for it. In addition, Wietse mentioned that another condition for XRP to behave as a stablecoin is if all on-ramp and off-ramp of XRP decide to sell the coin only at a certain ‘fist equivalent’.

He wrote, 

“The price of XRP comes from interaction with the world around the network: supply and demand. And since the price people offer is never stable, neither can XRP be.”

“The only way for that to work is if ALL On- and Offramps of XRP collectively decide they won’t sell if not exactly at a certain fist equivalent. Which is never happening with the amount of exchanges, DEX, etc.”

Ripple’s XRPL Labs, the software development firm behind the XRP Ledger, has recently announced the rollout of Hooks Builder, a web-based development environment that enables developers to test, debug, and deploy Layer-1 smart contracts on the XRP Ledger.

Wietse Wind, a lead developer at the XRPL Labs, who designed Xumm, shared the new development with the XRP community via his official Twitter handle a few hours ago.

According to the report, the journey to design smart contract features on the XRP Ledger started about two years ago. It all started with a blog post titled “XRPL Labs is working on the “HOOKS” amendment for the XRP Ledger. Supporting business logic integration for developers.”

XRP Labs says, “In the past two years, we went through discussing, designing, documenting, building, testing, benchmarking, more building, (etc., many iterations!), resulting in a first public testnet (it really worked!) early 2021. A few months ago, we silently launched Hooks Testnet V2.”

The company also reveals that it’s also working with another development firm named Equilibrium to make everyone familiar with Hooks.

“To allow everyone to get familiar with Hooks, build them, test them, share them, break them, we also worked with great people at Equilibrium.”

The firm added that “The XRP Ledger Foundation now houses the Hooks source code, Hooks Builder & all helper libraries. You can visit the Hooks landing page (containing docs, explorer, Github links & the Builder) at: hooks.xrpl.org.”

So, with the current stage of development, XRP Ledger is now one step closer to fully housing layer 1 smart contracts, according to XRPL Labs.
