Crypto blockchain researcher BankXRP cited the document on X, highlighting the section in which the four digital assets appear together.

XRP Appears Alongside Major Digital Assets

BankXRP wrote on X that the Federal Register had “just named XRP next to Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana” as a qualifying digital commodity for trust share listings.

The August 3, 2026 Federal Register notice concerns a Cboe BZX Exchange proposal involving its rules for Commodity-Based Trust Shares. The document cites Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, and XRP as examples of eligible assets under the exchange’s generic listing standards.

The notice explains that these assets qualify under the relevant standards because each has a qualifying futures market and an exchange-traded fund providing at least 40% economic exposure. This makes the wording more specific than a general declaration that the four assets have received identical regulatory classifications.

For XRP, the reference is nevertheless notable because the asset appears explicitly alongside Bitcoin, Ether and Solana in the same discussion concerning eligibility for regulated trust structures.

The Classification Does Not Approve an XRP ETF

The distinction between eligibility and approval remains important.

The Federal Register notice does not approve a new XRP ETF. Instead, it addresses proposed changes to the rules governing Commodity-Based Trust Shares and the conditions under which assets can satisfy the applicable listing standards.

The notice also discusses a proposed 15% buffer that could allow certain digital commodities that do not otherwise satisfy the generic requirements to be included under specified conditions. The existing eligibility language and the proposed changes therefore concern the structure of regulated investment products rather than establishing a blanket regulatory classification for XRP.

This also means the language should not be presented as an SEC ruling declaring XRP a security or non-security in every circumstance. The eligibility requirements for a particular trust product are a separate regulatory issue.

Actual XRP Trust Filings Would Be More Significant

The Federal Register reference could become more consequential if issuers use the eligibility standards in future XRP-related trust filings and those products progress through the regulatory process.

BankXRP’s post focuses on the fact that XRP now appears alongside Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana in the Federal Register’s discussion of assets that satisfy the relevant eligibility requirements. That provides a concrete regulatory reference for discussions about XRP’s potential use in regulated investment products.

However, investors should distinguish this development from an actual product approval. A Federal Register notice establishing or discussing listing requirements does not automatically create an XRP ETF or guarantee a future XRP trust will receive approval.

Crypto analyst Xaif (@Xaif_Crypto) recently highlighted a new SEC filing with significant detail about a digital asset treasury company’s accumulation strategy. The filing outlines plans to acquire a range of cryptocurrencies, including XRP, BTC, ETH, and SOL.

It also names several ISO-20022-compliant assets, specifically XLM, ADA, HBAR, ALGO, QNT, and IOTA, including Meme coins such as DOGE, SHIB, BONE, and LUNC.

The filing states the company intends to acquire assets it determines are not securities, applying a facts-and-circumstances analysis informed by applicable law and regulatory guidance, including the Howey Test. It also references the SEC and CFTC’s March 17, 2026 release on applying federal securities laws to crypto assets and transactions, which classified XRP as a commodity.

The Regulatory Posture

The total cost of the purchase through the retail account was approximately 10x larger than through the Coinbase Prime account. The filing attributes this to a lower bid/ask spread and lower commission on the institutional side.

Custody and Storage

The filing also addresses how the company intends to store its assets. It plans to use insured institutional custody arrangements and will limit the amount held in hot wallets to what is actively waiting to be bought or sold. For self-custody situations, the company says it will use a cold wallet accessible only via a ledger device and passcode.

Barron also compared these figures to the S&P 500. The index moved from about 3,295 to around 7,700 over the same period, a gain of +133.7% (2.34x). A $1,000 investment there grows to $2,337. Every crypto asset in Barron’s breakdown outpaced the index by a wide margin.

One commenter, Lynn, wrote: “I really underestimated sol back then and the numbers hurt.” That sentiment captures a common theme among long-term crypto holders who chose other assets in 2020.

The disclosure came via a post and quickly became a talking point in crypto circles. This came shortly after the launch of XRP on Solana’s network, a major cross-chain integration connecting Solana, Ripple, XRP, Hex Trust, and LayerZero.

The XRP Transaction

On April 17, Norby swapped roughly 10,000 USDT for 6,561.236 wrapped XRP tokens (wXRP) using Solana-based tools. He cited the network’s lower fees and faster speeds as reasons for choosing Solana over alternatives, and the transaction was completed through wallets he already had set up.

The purchase came directly ahead of his scheduled appearance at XRP Las Vegas on May 1, where he plans to speak about how Solana’s DeFi infrastructure creates new practical possibilities for XRP holders.

What wXRP Actually Is

The reaction online was mixed. Several users pointed out that Norby had not purchased native XRP, which prompted him to explain the mechanics of wXRP directly. Each wXRP token is backed 1:1 by XRP locked on the XRP Ledger, and holders can redeem the original asset at any time through the bridge contract.

Hex Trust and LayerZero provide the underlying infrastructure for issuance, and wXRP is currently supported on Phantom and Jupiter, two widely used Solana-based platforms.

Beyond simple holding, wXRP enables yield generation opportunities, active trading, and memecoin exposure, all within Solana’s fast-growing DeFi ecosystem. These are features that XRP holders on the native ledger would not otherwise have access to.

The Bigger Picture

Not everyone is convinced the integration moves the needle on price. Crypto commentator Cryptoinsightuk pointed out that wrapping XRP does not reduce its circulating supply.

The native tokens are locked on the XRP Ledger, while the wrapped version circulates on Solana, which increases how frequently the asset changes hands rather than making it scarcer. Because of this, any direct short-term price effect remains uncertain.

Where the integration makes a clearer case is on the demand side. As Cryptoinsightuk noted, XRP is now accessible to a segment of users who operate primarily within Solana’s ecosystem and may never have held the asset before.

If even a fraction of that user base acquires wXRP, it introduces demand that did not previously exist. The long-term outlook tied to this integration is cautiously bullish, though it depends heavily on the degree of traction wXRP gains across Solana’s DeFi platforms going forward.
