Crypto researcher SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) shared a rare video showing U.S. SEC Chair Gary Gensler discussing the mechanics of cross-border payments and the potential role of bridge currencies like XRP.

The clip provides insight into Gensler’s understanding of how XRP functions within blockchain networks and international banking systems. It raises questions about the basis for the federal case against Ripple that suppressed XRP for years.

Cross-Border Transaction Challenges

In the video, Gensler explained the costs and complexities of moving money between two fiat systems. He noted that SWIFT is “just a messaging system,” and banks must pre-fund Nostra accounts for transactions. This setup adds complexity and cost before any ledger adjustments occur.

He highlighted the need for an alternative. A party to bear counterparty risk to ensure transactions settle simultaneously between ledgers. Gensler explicitly mentions that blockchain could serve this function and highlights the use of bridge currencies.

Yes, Gary Gensler knew of XRP’s potential before pursuing a bad-faith federal case against Ripple.

This is a rare clip of Gary eloquently explaining the utility of XRP.

Listen closely and judge for yourself. https://t.co/6qf1UNpwum pic.twitter.com/YH0Y3BXCkd

— SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) January 31, 2026

Gensler Recognized XRP’s Function

He refers to Ripple as offering “an alternative” for these transactions, noting it was recently piloted but not yet deployed at enterprise scale. This acknowledgment suggests that Gensler recognized XRP’s role in improving transaction efficiency and reducing costs in cross-border settlements.

His comments illustrate an understanding that XRP could act as a bridge currency between different fiat systems. This design bypasses traditional reliance on pre-funded accounts and correspondent banking networks.

SEC Lawsuit Despite Awareness

SMQKE emphasized that this clip indicates Gensler knew the technology and potential of XRP before pursuing his bad-faith lawsuit. Despite this knowledge, the SEC proceeded with its federal case against Ripple. The legal action restricted Ripple’s operations and limited XRP adoption for years, suppressing its market growth and institutional integration.

The case against Ripple has faced scrutiny due to these factors. Observers note that Gensler’s prior knowledge of XRP’s function contrasts with the SEC’s claims during the lawsuit. The video serves as a record of his awareness of the asset’s utility in the financial system.

XRP’s Real-World Applicability

Ripple has continued to develop its network and promote XRP’s adoption despite regulatory constraints. Financial institutions increasingly explore blockchain-based solutions for faster cross-border settlements, reflecting the functionality Gensler described.

The SEC’s actions delayed broader integration but did not negate XRP’s technical capacity or practical use. The lawsuit ended in August 2025, and Ripple’s network has expanded significantly since then.

This video provides an important reference point for XRP’s supporters. Gensler understood the operational benefits of bridge currencies and blockchain technology, including Ripple’s approach, before initiating legal action, adding credence to the belief that the lawsuit was planned.

Few regulatory actions have left a deeper mark on crypto markets than the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple. The case reshaped U.S. exchange access, stalled institutional participation, and intensified long-standing suspicions that power dynamics—not just legal theory—guided enforcement choices. New documents have resurfaced, sparking renewed suspicions and putting them back at the center of the discussion.

That renewed focus follows a post by Patrick L Riley, who revisited early blockchain correspondence, funding records, and academic connections to argue that Ripple’s legal troubles cannot be viewed in isolation. His analysis urges readers to examine the formative years of crypto, when investor influence and institutional relationships quietly shaped the ecosystem.

A 2014 Email Reveals Investor Conflict

A leaked 2014 email from files linked to Jeffrey Epstein anchors the discussion. In the message, investor Austin Hill contacted Epstein and Joichi Ito to raise concerns about their involvement with Stellar, which Hill described as a direct competitor to Ripple. He warned that backing “two horses in the same race” damaged the ecosystem his company aimed to build.

The email confirms that early blockchain development involved active investor maneuvering. Capital providers openly sought to limit competition and protect favored networks. While the message does not reference regulators or XRP enforcement, it documents how financial influence shaped outcomes years before legal scrutiny emerged.

I told you all 31 Dec 2022 that Gary Gensler was directed through Epstein and Mossad to go after Ripple and XRP. Meanwhile the Bitcoin foundation was backed by Epstein.

Now you know it is true. pic.twitter.com/ouOjMYeNQx

— Patrick L Riley (@Acquired_Savant) January 31, 2026

Epstein’s Documented Bitcoin Involvement

Public disclosures released years later confirm that Epstein provided funding to Bitcoin Core developers through the Bitcoin Foundation between 2011 and 2014. The support happened when the foundation was internally unstable, and it’s based on facts, not rumors.

These disclosures established Epstein’s participation in Bitcoin’s early infrastructure. They do not create intent to suppress Ripple or direct regulatory actions. The evidence shows funding relationships, not enforcement strategy.

Gary Gensler and MIT Connections

Riley’s argument also highlights professional overlap between SEC Chair Gary Gensler and Joichi Ito. Ito recruited Gensler to teach blockchain-focused courses at MIT Media Lab, where Ito served as director before resigning amid revelations about Epstein-linked donations.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

— TimesTabloid (@TimesTabloid1) June 15, 2025

This shared academic history provides context but not proof. No primary documents, sworn testimony, or peer-reviewed findings demonstrate that Epstein—or any intelligence agency—directed Gensler’s conduct at the SEC.

What the Evidence Supports—and Where It Stops

The verified record supports several facts. Epstein funded Bitcoin-related initiatives. Early investors openly intervened in competitive blockchain dynamics. Gensler and Ito shared professional ties at MIT. The SEC sued Ripple in December 2020, claiming they sold securities without registering them.

The record does not confirm a directive ordering Gensler to target Ripple or XRP. Allegations involving coordinated suppression or intelligence involvement remain unproven.

Separating Documentation From Interpretation

Riley’s claims echo broader frustration within crypto over perceived regulatory inconsistency. The newly revealed email and funding records shed light on early power dynamics, but it’s crucial to separate facts from interpretation.

The Ripple case reshaped crypto regulation regardless of motive. Until new primary evidence emerges, the facts invite scrutiny—but they demand caution.

In a pivotal moment for the crypto industry, Ripple Labs’ legal team has declared a new era of certainty for its flagship token XRP and the XRP Ledger ecosystem. As of this year, the long‑running enforcement saga with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has officially concluded.

According to a post shared by ALLINCRYPTO, Ripple Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty recently underscored the significance of the outcome and its far‑reaching implications.

Legal Clarity Achieved

Alderoty emphasized that the litigation victory for Ripple and the XRP Ledger delivered “absolute legal clarity” for the company and its products. That clarity follows the termination of the SEC’s appeal, effectively making the July 2023 ruling of Judge Analisa Torres final and binding.

During the interview, he stated: “That litigation victory gave Ripple and XRP absolute legal clarity.” According to Tacoma sources, this opens the door for Ripple to deploy products with significantly reduced regulatory risk.

Ripple Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty on what has changed for $XRP since beating the SEC's lawsuit:"That litigation victory gave Ripple and XRP, and XRP Ledger that we rely on in our products, absolute legal clarity." pic.twitter.com/TLGk3mc6hd

— ALLINCRYPTO (@RealAllinCrypto) November 7, 2025

A Regime Shift in U.S. Crypto Policy

Beyond the courtroom, Alderoty pointed to a broader shift in U.S. policy. “We went from war on crypto to a goal of making the United States crypto capital,” he said. The transition aligns with increased institutional interest and a regulatory climate more amenable to digital‑asset innovation.

Indeed, financial institutions are now “knocking on our door” and engaging in M&A activity, which, Alderoty noted, “could not have happened” without both the litigation victory and the changed regulatory mindset.

Strategic Advantage for Ripple and XRP

With the regulatory fog lifted, Ripple now moves from defense to offense. The company expects to accelerate the deployment of XRP Ledger‑based solutions and scale collaborations with major financial institutions.

Thanks to the new clarity, Ripple can emphasize that its token and ledger are no longer burdened by the threat of unresolved regulatory categorization. As Alderoty said, the dual momentum of legal finality and favorable policy “puts us into a very unique position.”

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

Implications for the Crypto Ecosystem

This outcome carries implications far beyond Ripple alone. By achieving a binding judgment, Ripple sets a precedent that may inform how other digital‑asset projects address regulatory risk.

For the broader industry, clarity often translates to unlocked capital flows, increased product innovation, and faster institutional adoption. Ripple’s victory may thus serve as a turning point in digital‑asset regulation and market structuring.

What Lies Ahead

With litigation behind it, Ripple’s next challenge is execution. Key questions now include how fast XRP Ledger‑based products will scale, how strong the new institutional partnerships will be, and whether regulatory momentum sustains.

For XRP holders and crypto market watchers alike, the focus will be on whether this legal clarity translates into tangible milestones and commercial success.

In sum, Stuart Alderoty’s remarks underscore a dramatic shift for Ripple and the crypto industry. Legal clarity has replaced uncertainty; opportunity is replacing caution. As XRP and the XRP Ledger step into this new chapter, all eyes will be on their next moves.

Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has clarified that Binance never removed XRP from its trading platform, even during Ripple’s legal dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

He emphasized that Binance has consistently listed all digital assets with a market capitalization exceeding $100 billion, suggesting that XRP’s strength and size warranted continued support despite regulatory pressures.

Strong Projects Do Not Need to Pay for Listings

CZ’s comments follow recent debates about Binance’s listing requirements. In a separate post, he stated that solid blockchain projects do not need to pay to get listed, arguing that teams focused on innovation and long-term value creation are more likely to attract exchange support.

His remark came after Limitless Labs CEO CJ Hetherington publicly criticized Binance’s alleged conditions for securing an early “alpha listing”, a form of preliminary access to spot trading on the exchange.

Hetherington claimed that Binance demanded a 4% token allocation for user airdrops, an additional 1% for marketing, a $250,000 security deposit, and a further $2 million in BNB as collateral for listing.

According to Hetherington, these terms were unreasonable and gave preference to wealthier projects. He added that launching a token on Base, Coinbase’s layer-2 blockchain, might be a better alternative.

Base creator Jesse Pollak also weighed in, stating that token listings should not come with high financial barriers, and suggesting that Binance’s approach undermines accessibility.

Binance’s Response

CZ dismissed Hetherington’s claims as misleading, describing the criticism as an example of “loser mentality.” He clarified that Binance’s listing process is designed to prioritize user safety and transparency. The deposits, he explained, apply only to listings that carry a higher risk and are refundable under standard conditions.

Binance co-founder He Yi also addressed the controversy, confirming that the exchange does not charge listing fees for reputable projects and that the refundable deposits function as safeguards rather than hidden costs.

CZ’s reaffirmation that Binance stood by XRP during its legal battle reinforces the exchange’s reputation for supporting established crypto assets. While regulatory scrutiny continues to shape exchange policies, Binance’s approach underscores the importance it places on liquidity, stability, and user protection.

At present, XRP remains a top-ranked cryptocurrency by market capitalization, maintaining a strong trading presence on major exchanges, including Binance, which has continued to facilitate its trading pairs without interruption.

John E. Deaton, the attorney who rallied thousands of XRP holders into one of the largest grassroots legal interventions in U.S. financial history, has emphasized that the “XRP Army” played a pivotal role in shaping the outcome of the Ripple vs. SEC case.

In a recent post on X, Deaton firmly stated that the evidence is clear: community efforts influenced the judge’s decision, and denying that reality is either ignorance or dishonesty.

Judge Torres’ Landmark Ruling

In July 2023, Judge Analisa Torres issued her pivotal ruling in the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple. The court determined that XRP itself is not a security and that programmatic sales of the token on exchanges did not meet the criteria of the Howey test.

However, certain institutional sales were classified as securities transactions. This nuanced ruling introduced a transaction-based framework that now serves as a reference point in wider debates over digital asset regulation.

Evidence That Made the Difference

Deaton underscored that Ripple’s case involved over 2,000 exhibits, yet Judge Torres cited only a fraction of them. Among the selected evidence were affidavits submitted by XRP holders and arguments drawn directly from Deaton’s amicus brief.

Significantly, Torres also referenced oral arguments Deaton made in the LBRY case regarding secondary market transactions, highlighting their relevance in shaping her conclusion.

No credible person can argue that the XRP Army didn’t make a difference in the Ripple case. If they do they’re either ignorant to the facts and truth or intentionally lying. We have conclusive evidence that we made a difference. There were over 2K exhibits filed in the case. In… https://t.co/WK2MfOb6wS

— John E Deaton (@JohnEDeaton1) September 3, 2025

According to Deaton, these citations confirm that XRP holders directly impacted the court’s reasoning. “Had she not cited those things, people could legitimately debate whether our efforts made a real difference,” he wrote. “But the proof is in the decision itself.”

Ripple’s Acknowledgment of Community Support

Ripple has also recognized the importance of the XRP community in building its defense. Deborah McCrimmon, Ripple’s Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, revealed in a podcast interview that community members provided research, documents, and historical records that bolstered Ripple’s legal arguments.

By uncovering key pieces of evidence, volunteers eased the burden on Ripple’s legal team and provided materials that proved useful in court.

A Precedent for Grassroots Legal Action

The Ripple case set a new precedent for how community-driven participation can affect regulatory battles. Deaton noted that while people often dismiss the idea that individuals can make a difference, the XRP Army demonstrated otherwise.

One lawyer’s initiative inspired tens of thousands of holders, whose affidavits and support collectively helped establish the principle that XRP, as a digital asset, is not a security by itself.

Post-June 2025 Developments

The influence of XRP holders remains relevant even as the case closed officially. After Judge Torres rejected the proposed settlement in June 2025, both Ripple and the SEC withdrew their appeals, bringing the case to a close.

This decision leaves Torres’ July 2023 ruling as the defining precedent. Without the involvement of the XRP Army, the clarity that retail sales of XRP are not securities might never have been secured, making their contributions foundational to the case’s long-term impact.

Why This Matters for the Industry

The SEC vs. Ripple battle was closely watched across the digital asset industry, and Judge Torres’ ruling now serves as a cornerstone reference in regulatory and judicial debates. By recognizing the influence of XRP holders, the case underscores that grassroots legal advocacy can play a decisive role in shaping financial precedent.

Deaton’s reflections highlight an enduring truth: while one person may begin the fight, collective action is often what secures lasting change. For XRP holders, their role in this legal milestone not only safeguarded their investments but also reshaped the regulatory landscape for digital assets.

Prominent lawyer and digital asset enthusiast Bill Morgan shared remarks on social media regarding Jorge Tenreiro, the former lead trial counsel for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the high-profile case against Ripple Labs.

Morgan noted that Tenreiro has taken on a new role as a partner at Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossmann LLP, a major litigation firm.

The firm’s published profile highlights Tenreiro’s leadership at the SEC, where he spearheaded a national civil litigation program involving over 120 attorneys and played a leading role in cases against figures and companies such as Sam Bankman-Fried, Terraform Labs, and Binance.

Tenreiro’s tenure was marked by courtroom successes, including favorable verdicts and rulings in securities fraud matters and crypto-related litigations such as SEC v. Terraform and SEC v. Telegram Group, Inc.

Lead counsel for the SEC in the Ripple case, Jorge Tenreiro, is now a partner at a major law firm.

Reference to the Ripple Case

Morgan observed that while the profile emphasizes Tenreiro’s courtroom achievements in cryptocurrency enforcement actions, it omits any mention of his involvement in SEC v. Ripple Labs.

He pointed out that the SEC’s case against Ripple ended in what he described as a “two-thirds loss,” referencing the ruling in which the court found that XRP sales on secondary markets did not constitute securities transactions.

Morgan further noted that although the SEC initially filed an appeal, it later agreed to dismiss it, suggesting that Ripple had achieved success on the most significant issues in the litigation.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

Criticism of Legal Approach

In his comments, Morgan characterized Tenreiro’s legal strategy in the Ripple case as unsustainable, specifically critiquing the theory that XRP itself represented or embodied a security.

According to Morgan, this approach ultimately required the court to determine whether XRP as a token could be considered a security, which resulted in a ruling favorable to Ripple. He added that this aspect of the case would be remembered as a defining feature of Tenreiro’s role.

Personal Remarks

Morgan also recalled what he described as an attempt by Tenreiro to attack the reputation of attorney John Deaton, who represented XRP holders as amici curiae in the case.

He referred to that courtroom moment as ignoble and included it in his assessment of Tenreiro’s litigation style during the proceedings. Although Morgan was highly critical, he ended his statement by wishing Tenreiro well in his new position.

Legal analyst and defense attorney James K. Filan shared an important update regarding the long-standing case between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple Labs.

In a post on X, Filan confirmed that the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has approved a joint stipulation of dismissal in the matter. The court issued its mandate on August 22, 2025, formally recognizing the stipulation filed by the parties to withdraw the appeal under Federal Rule of Appellate Procedure 42.

The order, signed by Catherine O’Hagan Wolfe, Clerk of Court, states that the stipulation of dismissal is “So Ordered,” thereby concluding the appeal. The mandate was issued in cases docketed under numbers 24-2648 and 24-2705, covering the appeals brought forward by both the SEC and Ripple Labs.

The document also lists Ripple executives Bradley Garlinghouse and Christian A. Larsen as defendants-appellees, with several intervenors including attorney John Deaton and others representing retail holders of XRP.

Conclusion of the Appeals Process

The approval of the joint stipulation indicates that both sides have reached a final resolution in the appellate process, leaving no further action pending before the Second Circuit. The language of the order suggests that neither Judge Analisa Torres, who presided over the trial level of the case in the Southern District of New York, nor any other judicial authority needs to take additional steps at this stage.

This development formally ends the appellate phase of a case that has been ongoing since December 2020, when the SEC first filed its lawsuit against Ripple Labs, alleging that the company’s sales of XRP constituted unregistered securities offerings. Over time, the case became one of the most closely followed legal battles in the digital asset sector, given its implications for regulatory clarity in the industry.

Community Reaction

Filan’s update was met with immediate reaction from members of the XRP community. One user, MrCrypto, expressed enthusiasm, writing, “Finally!!! XRP community now we take over the world…” Another community member, DigiX, raised a question about whether any further judicial action was required, asking, “Now…is it done for good? Or does our esteemed judge Torres need to do anything else?”

In response, another participant in the discussion clarified that the case is over and that Judge Torres has no remaining role, stating, “Torres is done. Case is over. Ripple has to pay the settlement. I bet that would happen tomorrow.”

Finality of the Case

With the issuance of the mandate by the Second Circuit, the legal proceedings between the SEC and Ripple Labs appear to be fully concluded. The court’s formal approval of the joint stipulation of dismissal marks the official end of the appeals, bringing closure to nearly five years of litigation.

For the XRP community and the broader digital asset industry, this outcome represents a decisive moment. While details of any settlement arrangements remain to be fully addressed, the dismissal eliminates the uncertainty of ongoing appellate review. The case is now considered legally finished, as confirmed by the mandate issued on August 22, 2025.

Crypto analyst Steph Is Crypto made a post highlighting the potential impact of Judge Analisa Torres in the Ripple-SEC case. In his statement, he noted that Judge Torres’ “final court sign-off” was imminent and suggested that once this occurred, XRP could reach $5 in a short period.

The message drew attention within the digital asset community, particularly because of the reference to Judge Torres’ involvement at this stage of the case. His view implied that the judge still held an active role in issuing a decisive ruling that could affect XRP’s trajectory.

Marc Fagel’s Response on the Legal Process

Former SEC lawyer Marc Fagel responded directly to the comment. In his reply, Fagel clarified the procedural posture of the case by stating, “Reminder: Judge Torres has nothing further to do with this case.” His response suggested that any expectation of a new ruling or final sign-off from Judge Torres was misplaced.

Reminder: Judge Torres has nothing further to do with this case.

— Marc Fagel (@Marc_Fagel) August 16, 2025

Fagel’s position reflects the understanding that the court’s role in the matter has already concluded at the district level, and no further involvement from Judge Torres is expected as the appeals process has advanced independently.

Community Reaction and Calls Against Misinformation

An additional perspective was from a user, Siebo. He expressed frustration with repeated sharing of inaccurate updates, suggesting there should be a system where accounts that spread false information multiple times would face penalties such as temporary suspensions.

His reaction highlighted the ongoing challenge of misinformation circulating within the cryptocurrency community regarding legal proceedings and their potential market impact.

Context from Recent Legal Developments

The discussion followed a recent update in the ongoing Ripple-SEC case. On August 16, the Times Tabloid reported that the SEC had filed its August 15 status report with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. This filing confirmed that both the SEC and Ripple had submitted a Joint Stipulation of Dismissal of their cross-appeals.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

— TimesTabloid (@TimesTabloid1) June 15, 2025

According to attorney Bill Morgan, this filing was primarily procedural but could give rise to short-term speculation about Judge Torres issuing a final order. Morgan noted that while the step is largely a formality, the timeline could continue to be misunderstood, leading to inaccurate commentary suggesting imminent rulings from Judge Torres.

Clarifying the Current Stage of the Case

With the filing of the Joint Stipulation, the matter now rests with the Court of Appeals for a formal dismissal of the appeals. This means that while there remains a procedural step for the court to acknowledge the dismissal, Judge Torres’s direct role in the case has concluded.

Fagel’s response aligns with this understanding, pointing out that speculation around a forthcoming ruling from the district court judge does not reflect the current legal status.

The exchange between Steph Is Crypto and Marc Fagel underscores a recurring issue in public commentary on ongoing litigation. While analysts often link court actions to market forecasts, legal experts such as Fagel highlight the importance of accuracy regarding procedural details.

The recent SEC filing and the comments from Bill Morgan further confirm that the case is moving through its final stages, with Judge Torres no longer playing an active role.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed its August 15 status report with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, confirming that the parties have lodged a Joint Stipulation of Dismissal of their cross-appeals.

Prominent attorney Bill Morgan has weighed in on the filing, noting that while the step is “a formality,” it leaves space for “another short period of time for posts about Judge Torres making a final order any day.”

With the report submitted, both sides now await the court’s approval for a formal dismissal of the appeals. However, Morgan suggests that many community members who don’t fully understand the timeline will continue sharing misinformation.

It’s a formality but we can enjoy another short period of time for posts about Judge Torres making a final order any day https://t.co/UNxlXl4RUF

— bill morgan (@Belisarius2020) August 15, 2025

Misinformation About Judge Torres’s Role

Despite the straightforward procedural timeline, parts of the community have claimed that a final order from U.S. District Judge Torres could arrive any day. That is inaccurate, as Judge Torres has not had control over this matter since she denied the parties’ request for an indicative ruling months ago.

Once that motion was rejected, the case proceeded within the Second Circuit’s jurisdiction, with Ripple expressing its intention to dismiss its appeal, and the SEC following suit over a month later. Any order concluding the appeals must come from the appellate court upon approval of the dismissal stipulation, not from the district court.

We are on X, follow us to connect with us :- @TimesTabloid1

The Road to Dismissal

Morgan has repeatedly corrected these recurring misstatements and explained that the outcome now depends on the Second Circuit. His latest comment emphasizes that the filings already outline what both sides want: dismissal of their appeals. Attorney James K. Filan, who shared the status report, also noted that the dismissal stipulation is pending, reinforcing that the next action rests with the appellate court.

Once the Second Circuit grants the motions to dismiss, the appeals will be terminated. That step would effectively end the long-running legal battle between the SEC and Ripple, consistent with the parties’ filings. It does not require, and will not feature, a fresh “final order” from Judge Torres, as many in the community might still suggest.

The appeals now rest with the Second Circuit, and until the court confirms the dismissal, talk of a district court conclusion is misplaced. What is certain is that both Ripple and the SEC have signaled their intention to close this chapter, leaving the case nearer than ever to resolution.

Defense lawyer and former federal prosecutor James K. Filan has reported that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a status report with the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in its case against Ripple Labs Inc., along with related defendants.

According to Filan, the filing states that the parties have submitted a Joint Stipulation of Dismissal for both the SEC’s appeal and Ripple’s cross-appeal, with the stipulation still pending and awaiting approval by the Court.

The status report, dated August 15, 2025, references prior court orders from April 16, 2025, and June 16, 2025, which required updates on the matter. The SEC’s filing confirms that both sides have agreed to dismiss their respective appeals, with each party responsible for its legal costs and fees.

The court documents list Ripple Labs Inc. as Defendant-Appellee-Cross-Appellant, with company executives Bradley Garlinghouse and Christian A. Larsen named as Defendants-Appellees. Several individuals are also listed as intervenors in the case.

Reason for the Filing

A community member, identified as Sherrie, provided further context to Filan’s update. She explained that the status report was filed because the Court of Appeals has not yet approved the joint stipulation of dismissal. She attributed the delay in approval to the summer period, suggesting that procedural timelines have been slower.

Sherrie noted that the SEC was obligated to file the report before the end of the day, which explains the late-day filing. She further stated that if the Court of Appeals had approved the stipulation earlier that day, the SEC would not have been required to file the status report at all.

Approval Process

Sherrie also clarified that the approval of the joint stipulation is a procedural formality. The Court of Appeals must grant it, not Judge Analisa Torres, who presided over the case in the district court. The stipulation, once approved, would formally end both the SEC’s appeal and Ripple’s cross-appeal, bringing this phase of the litigation to a close.

Given the filing and the agreement between the parties, the conclusion of the appeals process now appears contingent solely on the administrative completion of this approval step by the Court of Appeals.
