The Shibarium project which began in 2022 is yet to be launched on the mainnet, causing members of the Shiba Inu community to ask many questions regarding the project launch date.
LUCIE, a Shiba Inu ecosystem official, took to Twitter on Wednesday to address these questions, giving a probable timeline on what the layer-2 scaling solution will be released.
According to her, the highly anticipated Shibarium project which plans to burn hefty amounts of LUNC would likely be rolled out in the third quarter of 2023. Meanwhile, a member of the Shibarium development squad and admin in the Shiba Inu discord community predicted the launch to come in August. On the other hand, Shytoshi Kusama, the community-appointed SHIB community leader, said the Shiba Inu scaling solution would come in July.
Overall, Lucie stressed that the Shiba Inu team is confident about the launch of Shibarium in 2023 with multiple teams working on it. The SHIB marketing team member added that work in the line of Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration into the layer-2 project is underway. “Our estimate is for 2023, and we are not pumping anything but focusing on sustainable growth,” she said.
Yesterday, @shibarium_ guessed that the launch of the mainnet would be in August, while my guess is for Q3 and @ShytoshiKusama guessed July.

It bears noting that the Shibarium project is currently in the testing phase and the testing process and security audits are crucial before the launch. Recall that a top member of the project development team said the testing is going in a good direction, adding that the Shibarium launch is closer than expected.
However, the launch could be delayed if issues are found in the testing process. “Understand – if some testing goes wrong it may take longer – it’s being built – it’s not made from a magic box,” Lucie remarked.
The ShibArmy’s enthusiasm over Shibarium stems from the fact that it promises to burn huge amounts of SHIB regularly, contributing to the predicted rally in the price of SHIB.
