Raoul Pal, founder of Real Vision, recently made comments that had the XRP army up in arms to defend their preferred digital asset. He ignited a fierce debate about the digital asset’s potential by urging investors to reassess their positions and abandon old coins like XRP.
In a video shared by Jungle Inc, another well-respected crypto figure and prominent crypto YouTuber, Pal argued that the XRP market has been stagnant for an extended period, and investors should focus on newer assets with greater growth potential.
He cautioned against holding onto XRP due to emotional attachment or fear of missing out on a potential bull run. Instead, Pal advised investors to prioritize rational decision-making and consider the broader market opportunities.
Pal’s critique has been met with resistance from the XRP community. Jungle Inc. countered Pal’s argument by emphasizing the importance of diversification. He argued that a balanced portfolio should include emerging blockchains and established assets like XRP, which have performed well despite hurdles.
Other prominent community figures also responded to Pal’s comments. Pro-XRP attorney Fred Rispoli noted that Pal was a well-meaning crypto community member but respectfully disagreed with his assertions. Rispoli emphasized that while some older cryptocurrencies like EOS may have lost relevance, XRP has not reached that stage.
Dizer Capital founder Yassin Mobarak echoed Rispoli’s sentiment, highlighting XRP’s potential for significant growth. Mobarak acknowledged the challenges of holding XRP in the short term but emphasized the long-term rewards.
Good Morning Crypto, a prominent figure in the crypto community, started a poll asking the community if they agreed with Pal. After almost 6,700 votes, 77% disagreed with Pal, showing the community’s faith that XRP is not past its prime.
In response to Pal’s criticism, XRP enthusiasts have pointed to the cryptocurrency’s unique features and potential for future growth. They argue that XRP’s role as a digital asset for cross-border payments and its association with Ripple position it favorably for future development.
In addition to his critique of XRP’s market performance, Pal expressed concern that the XRP and ADA communities had become cults. He argued that this mentality can cloud investors’ judgment and lead them to make irrational decisions.
Many crypto figures have condemned the actions of the XRP Army, with Cardano creator Charles Hoskinson being a prominent enemy of the XRP Army. However, Pal stated he hopes the XRP community is correct about the digital asset. He hopes it is not an investment strategy. Pal also noted that his intention was not to insult XRP but was only talking out of concern.
