Pundit Says XRP Can’t Reach $10,000. Here’s why

The possibility of XRP reaching $10,000 continues to divide crypto enthusiasts, with some investors pointing to massive future adoption while others focus on the mathematics behind such a valuation.

Crypto Enthusiast Carly has taken a firm position against the $10,000 target and urged XRP investors to examine the numbers before accepting extremely high price predictions.

Carly opened her tweet stating, “XRP Can’t Reach $10k.” She then questioned whether investors had researched the valuation behind the target or bought cryptocurrencies while expecting a 10x return.

According to Carly, XRP would reach a $1,000 trillion market capitalization if the token reached $10,000. She compared that figure with the global economy and said it would equal 100 times global GDP. Carly used this calculation to support her view that XRP cannot reach $10,000.

She also discussed lower price targets. Carly described $1,000 as an upper limit and said XRP would need considerable time to reach that level. She added that banks would need to use XRP extensively for transactions to support such a valuation. Carly then said she plans to sell at either $500 or $1,000 rather than wait for a $10,000 price.

Rob Thomas Examines XRP Supply

Rob Thomas supported Carly’s broader point about market capitalization but clarified how the metric works. He said market capitalization does not require an equal amount of cash to enter XRP. Instead, investors calculate market capitalization by multiplying the asset’s price by its circulating supply.

Thomas used approximately 63 billion circulating XRP to calculate potential valuations. At $500, XRP would reach a market capitalization of about $31 trillion. At $1,000, the figure would rise to approximately $63 trillion. At $10,000, XRP would reach roughly $629 trillion.

Thomas also acknowledged that investors can consider XRP’s velocity, liquidity, and institutional use when evaluating higher price targets. However, he maintained that those factors do not eliminate the importance of price and supply in market-capitalization calculations.

XRipplewine Points to Future Tokenization

XRipplewine offered a different perspective in the comments. The commenter suggested that widespread tokenization could eventually increase the amount of economic value represented across blockchain networks.

XRipplewine said the global economy could reach quadrillions once people tokenize assets and activities worldwide. The commenter therefore suggested that XRP could require a $10,000 valuation to handle a portion of that economic activity.

The contrasting comments center on two different assumptions. While Carly and Thomas focus on XRP’s existing supply and the market capitalization that follows from higher prices, XRipplewine focuses on the potential scale of a future tokenized economy and the amount of value blockchain networks could process.
