The XRP community has long operated on the belief that institutional adoption would eventually translate into price appreciation.
Ripple’s annual Swell conference, which concluded October 29 in New York, was supposed to be one of the catalysts that moved the needle, but XRP has stayed low.
Crypto commentator UnknowDLT captured the mood with a post that accumulated thousands of views. He wrote: “The patience of XRP holders is running out.” The responses that followed ranged from firm resolve to outright anger, and together they paint a picture of a community at a crossroads.
The patience of XRP holders is running out.

The Fallout from Swell
Swell 2026 was the largest edition of Ripple’s flagship event to date. It drew financial executives, builders, members of the XRP community, and a notable appearance from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The event generated significant anticipation, but XRP’s price did not follow.
XRP sat at $1.28 following the conference, down 3% in the preceding 24 hours. For a community that has watched positive news cycle after positive news cycle fail to produce lasting gains, the post-Swell flatline was familiar territory.
What the Community Said
Responses to UnknowDLT’s post reflected the full range of sentiment within the XRP holder base. Some held firm, with one commenter saying he was willing to wait however long it takes. Another said that he was in no hurry.
Others were less composed. One holder attributed the situation to price manipulation, and questioned whether Ripple’s leadership genuinely has retail investors in mind. He added that if Garlinghouse were serious about the community, he could direct even 0.5% of the $16 trillion in payment volume that Ripple handled in 2025 toward price appreciation.
Leadership Under Scrutiny
The frustration in the comments connects directly to questions being raised about Ripple’s executive communications. Garlinghouse revealed that Ripple’s payment business processed $13 trillion in transactions in 2025, while noting that 99.9% of those transactions did not use a crypto rail or a stablecoin.
For holders expecting XRP to sit at the center of Ripple’s payment infrastructure, that figure raised serious questions. The gap between Ripple’s payment volumes and XRP’s actual usage became a focal point for many in the community.
Patience Has Limits
The five-year vision from leadership has also drawn scrutiny. Garlinghouse said XRP would become the institutional gold standard for crypto, while CTO Emeritus David Schwartz cited mass retail adoption as his outlook. That answer has left many holders unsatisfied.
The XRP community is not monolithic. Some holders remain committed regardless of timeline. Others are openly questioning the relationship between Ripple’s growth and XRP’s price. What is clear is that Swell 2026 did not quiet those questions.
