Pundit: If You Are Saying XRP Can’t Hit $5+, You Need Common Sense Help

Crypto commentator Mason Versluis has a simple message for XRP skeptics. If the asset already crossed $3.50, he argues that dismissing $5 as unreachable makes little sense.

“Sorry to say it but if you are out here saying XRP can’t hit $5+ while having already hit $3.50+,” he wrote, “you need serious common sense help.”

XRP’s Price History Backs His Stance

XRP crossed $3 multiple times in its history. It did so first in 2018, when it hit an all-time high. Then it achieved this feat again in January 2025 following a breakout of over 500% at the end of 2024. It maintained that position for a longer period, and became the third largest cryptocurrency in the market.

In July 2025, it reached an all-time high of $3.65. Each of these moves came after extended periods of suppressed price action, and each time the asset demonstrated it could hold and build above key levels. Versluis points to this track record as the basis for his position.

The $5 target is not speculation pulled from nowhere. It sits roughly 37% above the current all-time high, and multiple experts believe XRP can hit that level. It is a modest extension by historical standards for an asset that has already moved thousands of percent in a single cycle.

The Community Responds

The post drew a range of responses, most of them supportive. Zach Rector, a prominent figure in the community, agreed with Versluis’ stance. Another commenter acknowledged that $5 is possible but noted the timing remains unknown, with too many people presenting it as a certainty.

One commenter argued that over 10 years of market data shows that XRP underperforms. Coindesk recently pointed out that XRP has failed to match the performance of other major assets by not reclaiming its 2018 high, and the commenter stated that $5 will not happen before 2030.

One commenter pushed back on the broader narrative, calling price predictors “pumpers” who are “completely full of SHIT.” One pointed out that each passing year makes the target statistically less likely due to inflation.

A user questioned how many years XRP took to cross $3.50, suggesting it would take much longer to reach $5. Another noted that since 2014, XRP has never established itself above $3 for an extended, let alone approached higher prices, distinguishing it from other coins.
