Elizabeth Warren says she does not see the CLARITY Act passing before the August recess. She has said something similar before. Over a year earlier, she used the same tactic against the Genius Act, a bill that ultimately passed.
Crypto commentator Digital Asset Investor (@digitalassetbuy) resurfaced a video of Warren speaking ahead of the Genius Act vote. In it, she warned the bill would let Donald Trump turn “the White House into a crypto cash machine.”
She listed four objections: weak consumer protections, unchecked corporate control over private money, sanctions evasion risks, and personal profit for the president. She closed with a firm line. “If this bill stays broken, it should not pass. Period.” The Genius Act passed anyway.
This old bag said the same stuff before the passage of the Genius Act. Nobody takes her seriously.https://t.co/A0UltQifG3 https://t.co/eeK10SXEsb

A Repeating Pattern
Now Warren has turned the same energy toward the CLARITY Act. Asked directly if anything could change to make the bill acceptable to her, she said yes, in principle. She has pushed for crypto legislation for years and even authored her own bill.
Her objection is not to regulation itself. It’s to who wrote this particular bill. She said the CLARITY Act was “written by the crypto industry to protect and advance the crypto industry.” She argued it would help Trump “make his next $1.4 billion on crypto scams” and put both national security and the economy at risk.
A Familiar List of Concerns
Warren’s language tracks closely with her Genius Act comments. She raised corruption, consumer protection, and national security in both cases. She also brought up bribery directly, calling Trump “the most corrupt in American history” and saying he “appears to just be taking bribes out in public.”
Market Reaction Has Been Muted
Digital Asset Investor’s post did not shake confidence among crypto watchers. Many commentators, he included, still expect the CLARITY Act to reach a vote and pass, despite Warren’s comments.

Digital Asset Investor stated, “Nobody takes her seriously.” Despite public clashes with Senator Cynthia Lummis over the bill, Digital Asset Investor believes Warren will not significantly impact its outcome. Warren’s opposition to the Genius Act was just as forceful, and the bill cleared the Senate regardless.
What Comes Next?
The core disagreement over the CLARITY Act remains the ethics provision tied to state attorneys general and DOJ oversight. Warren’s comments suggest her opposition runs deeper than that single issue.
Whether her position shifts any votes remains uncertain. Her Genius Act stance did not stop that bill from passing, and there is no clear sign yet that the CLARITY Act will follow a different path.
