CLARITY Act Update for XRP Army: Senator Lummis Issues Major Warning

The crypto industry has spent years waiting for a federal market structure framework. Senator Cynthia Lummis says the window to get one may be shorter than most people realize.

Lummis posted on X reinforcing her position on the CLARITY Act, stating: “If the Clarity Act doesn’t pass this Congress, the next real opportunity to bring market structure legislation back up is 2030.”

She added that years of jobs, investment, and tax revenue are at stake, and called on lawmakers to finish the work now.

Lummis’ 2030 Warning

The warning is not new, but the timing gives it more weight. The Senate cloture vote on the CLARITY Act is scheduled for September 15 at 2 p.m. That vote requires 60 votes to advance the bill. All 53 Senate Republicans are committed to voting yes, but 7 Democratic votes are still needed.

If the bill fails to clear cloture, it does not simply get rescheduled. The 2026 midterm election calendar leaves almost no legislative floor time after September. A new Congress takes over in January with an unknown composition. The bill would restart from zero. Lummis believes that process would not produce results until 2030.

The House Calendar Problem

Even if the Senate clears cloture on September 15, a separate timing problem exists. The House of Representatives canceled the final two weeks of its September session. Members leave Washington by September 17. That leaves a two-day overlap between the Senate vote and the House departure.

If the Senate passes an amended version of the bill, the House must approve those changes before it can go to the President. With members absent until mid-November, any Senate amendments could stall the bill even after a successful vote.

XRP Army Reacts

The post drew wide attention from the crypto community. Several users pushed back on the 2030 timeline, questioning why a failed vote cannot simply be brought back up in a matter of weeks rather than years.

One user noted that failing to pass legislation with a Republican majority would represent a wasted opportunity for the party. Another called for less commentary from lawmakers and more legislative action, asking Lummis to do her job and get it passed.

The Road to September 15

The vote on September 15 is just a few days away. This is the first test. Whether the bill clears 60 votes, survives the two-day House window, and reaches the President’s desk will determine whether Lummis’s 2030 warning becomes a reality.
