Charles Hoskinson: Users Can Run Smart Contracts on Cardano Once Hard Fork Combinator Event Plays Out

The CEO of IOHK, Charles Hoskinson, who created the emerging smart contract platform, Cardano (ADA), has stated that users will be able to run smart contracts on the Cardano network as soon as Alonzo hard fork is implemented.

In a live brief update on Alonzo conducted on 30th July 2021, Hoskinson said development is progressing as scheduled and things are moving along for the Alonzo hard fork update, which will bring smart contracts functionality to the Cardano network.

According to the mathematician, for the deployment of Alonzo on the mainnet, the team of developers at IOG are working on two kinds of parallel tracks. He said the first parallel track is the much-awaited hard fork combinator event, which is based on getting Alonzo’s capabilities to the node. While the other parallel track will allow users to build decentralized applications (Dapps) on the blockchain.

Hoskinson then revealed that this implies that users can start running smart contracts on the Cardano network as soon as the hard fork combinator event is implemented.

Charles Hoskinson noted:

“There are kind of two parallel tracks going on at the same time for the launch of Alonzo… Track number one is the hard fork combinator event, strictly about getting Alonzo capabilities to the node. The other track is about building the infrastructure around that node that allows you to run both off-chain and on-chain code and build full Dapps.

“I still believe that most of the development infrastructure will be built in the August-September time frame… What does that mean? It means that you actually can run smart contracts the moment that hard fork comes on Cardano infrastructure and building an increasingly better environment for Cardano apps to be developed and deployed on”

Next Two Months Are Going To Be Fun for Cardano

A couple of days ago, Charles Hoskinson told the teeming Cardano community members that the next two months (August and September) will be fun in the ecosystem, as the team is ready and working tirelessly to shock the critics of Cardano’s project development.

Hoskinson assured the Cardano community that the roadmap to the implementation of smart contracts functionality on Cardano has not changed. He said he expects critics to keep throwing their usual jibes until then.

Responding to a stern critic of Cardano, Charles Hoskinson wrote, “It’s amazing how delusional some people are. This is honestly the level cardano critics are at now. Next two months are going to be fun. Expect a lot of meltdowns and temper tantrums from the paint chip brigade.”
