Kevin Hammond, a software engineer at Input Output Global (IOG), recently shared an update on what is next for the software firm behind the development of Cardano (ADA).
According to Hammond, IOG is working to transition Cardano to an era known as Babbage. The phase named in honor of Charles Babbage, the mathematician credited as the “father of the computer”, is aimed at smoothening out any left-over wrinkles after Alonzo mainnet launch.

In this phase, the software firm will roll out several performance improvements on the Cardano blockchain. According to Hammond, developers at IOG have been working on these yet-to-launch improvements for some time.
Improvements to Expect
In the new phase, IOG intends to improve sinking speed and address performance issues that have been spotted and reported since the launch of Alonzo. It’s also aimed at boosting user experience on the Cardano network.
In the update, Hammond revealed that the Plutus Language on the Cardano network will also be upgraded. The software engineer added that IOG plans to improve the language via the introduction of a new Plutus Language version on the blockchain.
The upgraded version of Plutus will come with additional features that were created in line with the demand and interest of users. Since developer activities on the network have drastically increased, developers have also been coming with their improvement suggestions.
