A recent post on X by Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson on January 27 has sparked widespread confusion and curiosity within the Cardano community.
The cryptic post, consisting solely of a random alphanumeric string “46c95d04c238df47dbbbad3ea70823f581594ea0c4e3bfabb4626e557dfc7a45,” and preceded by the words, ” We did it,” has left many members scratching their heads, eager to decipher its meaning.

Various interpretations have emerged within the community. Some speculate that Hoskinson was celebrating a significant achievement, though its exact nature remains shrouded in mystery.
Others suggest the post alludes to a successful Qsig transaction or the positive start of a collaborative quantum workshop involving Ethereum and Cardano researchers. There have even been congratulatory messages directed towards Hoskinson and the Cardano community.
However, the most likely scenario was pointed out by an X user, who stated that the string of numbers and letters was a SHA-256 coded message.
In his words, “It can be used as proof of knowing some information without actually revealing the information.” He pointed out that crypto influencer Cobie (@cobie) did something similar in April 2023. The community deciphered the message, but the solution was never officially confirmed.
However, a deeper meaning lurking beneath the surface is not out of the realm of possibility. Recent advancements in Input Output Global (IOG) research endeavors have garnered attention, with the acceptance of a paper on Universal Anonymous Signatures (UAS) by the IOG research team into the prestigious FC’24 conference serving as a prime example.
The paper, titled “Foundations of Anonymous Signatures: Formal Definitions, Simplified Requirements, and a Construction Based on General Assumptions,” is slated for presentation at the 2024 Financial Cryptography Conference.
Furthermore, the recent Qsig workshop, a groundbreaking event held on January 26, brought together leading academics and industry figures to explore the burgeoning field of quantum-resistant cryptography.

The event, which counted IOG Chief Scientist Professor Aggelos Kiayias and Ethereum Foundation’s Justin Drake among its participants, was motivated by the exciting potential of novel cryptographic primitives enabled by quantum technologies.
Despite the rampant speculation, Hoskinson has refrained from providing any clarifying context to his post, leaving its interpretation open-ended.
Meanwhile, Hoskinson recently stated that 2024 would be a great year for Cardano, and this post could be related to that statement. According to Hoskinson, “we’re just getting started,” and this post could lead to the revelation of a major development for Cardano (ADA) soon.
