Burger King Brazil has announced the addition of Dogecoin (DOGE) as a payment option of its new product “dogpper” dog food, a meat-flavored dog snack in the shape of a bone.
The product is majorly meant for customers who have canine pets and wish to share something with their pets when ordering food from any of its branches across the country.
According to the report, the service of using Dogecoin (DOGE) as a payment option for Dogpper has commenced since Monday. However, customers need to check the availability of this service in their respective locations.
The report added that each of the Dogppers costs 3 DOGE. Howbeit, this product can also be purchased using the country’s fiat currency, Brazilian Real (RBL).
How the Purchase of Dogpper Works Using Dogecoin (DOGE)
In order to purchase the dog food called Dogpper, it’s necessary for customers to select the amount on the official website, followed by filling up the registration form.
Once this is completed, Burger King Brazil’s DOGE address will be displayed on the website, giving the customer a means to make payment with Dogecoin. Mobile applications such as Uber Eats, Ifood, and 99 Food are also channels to make payments.
According to the food chain’s recommendation, customers can only order a maximum of 5 Dogppers due to some reasons such as availability.
Would Burger King Allow Payments In DOGE or Other Crypto For Other Products?
Currently, it cannot be ascertained whether Burger King will allow payments in Dogecoin (DOGE) for other products. Also, the company is yet to showcase interest in incorporating other cryptocurrencies in its business. However, this is likely to play out in the future, since other businesses within and outside Brazil are starting to introduce crypto payments.
According to the report, a portion of Dogpper proceeds will go to an animal protection non-governmental organization (NGO). However, the product is said to be available for a limited period.
