XRP’s prolonged decline has tested the confidence of many long-term holders. But crypto analyst ChartNerd believes the move could eventually be significant to a prediction he made earlier this year.
In a post on X, he said his call for XRP to sweep the $1 level in 2026 could become an important reference point when investors look back at the market years from now.
ChartNerd said investors may eventually be grateful that they resisted broader market sentiment during the decline. He also rejected the idea that hope disappeared during the downturn, saying instead that it was found during the difficult period. His comments suggest that he sees the current market conditions as part of a larger setup rather than a reason to abandon his outlook.
The analyst also referred to the macroeconomic setup. However, his post ended before providing further details about what he sees developing in the wider market.
My call for $XRP to sweep the $1.00 level in 2026 may well go into the history books when we look back at this market in the years ahead. We will thank ourselves that we went against herd mentality. Hope was not lost during this decline, it was found. The macro set up looks 🔥 https://t.co/GeF8HIBHzD

ChartNerd Leaves Lower Levels on the Table
Another X user, Nils Samp, responded to ChartNerd by asking about a possible sweep toward $0.80. ChartNerd responded with a more detailed assessment of the downside levels he is monitoring.
According to the analyst, $0.90 and $0.70 remain possible targets, although he considers both considerably less likely than his primary scenario. He said that if XRP extends below the 50-week exponential moving average, the probability of deeper weakness would increase.
However, ChartNerd currently considers $0.98 the likely bottom under his base case. His assessment therefore leaves room for additional downside while maintaining that the market may already have established its lowest point around that level.
The distinction is important because ChartNerd does not view the current recovery as confirmation that XRP has entered a sustained uptrend. Instead, he said that XRP remains below the 50-week EMA, meaning he still considers the present move a countertrend rally.
Long-Term Holders Face Another Difficult Period
ChartNerd’s comments also prompted a deeply personal response from an XRP holder identified as NY Nurse. She said she and her husband have remained committed to XRP for nearly a decade and have made significant sacrifices based on their expectations for the asset.

She described the current period as painful, noting that inflation has continued to affect their finances while earlier expectations around XRP have not materialized. She also expressed frustration that Bitcoin investors and others who followed more traditional investments have benefited while long-term XRP holders have endured years of uncertainty.
Her response illustrates the emotional pressure of a prolonged wait for XRP investors who entered the market years ago. At the same time, ChartNerd’s latest comments remain focused on price structure rather than certainty about a future rally.
For now, his base case places the likely XRP bottom near $0.98, while $0.90 and $0.70 remain possible but less probable scenarios. He also maintains that XRP needs to reclaim the 50-week EMA before the current recovery can be viewed as something more than a countertrend move.
