A Bitcoin Whale Moved $2.1 Billion Worth of BTC in A Single Transaction

As the price of Bitcoin (BTC), the first and largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, moved sideways over the week, whales continue to move Bitcoin in large numbers. An anonymous whale moved tens of thousands of BTC worth billions of dollars in a single transaction.

As reported a few days ago by the distributed ledger explorer Blockchain.com, a total of 34,988.9 BTC worth $2,071,215,368.63 at the time the transaction was sent to two wallets of unknown origin.

The first receiving wallet collected 900 BTC, worth $55.77 million, which it promptly distributed to many other Bitcoin addresses.

The second wallet received 34,088.9329 Bitcoin, currently worth $2.11 billion. According to crypto-tracking tool BitInfoCharts, the wallet is now the 21st richest Bitcoin address in the world.

Going by the current price of Bitcoin in the market, the BTC moved should now be worth relatively $2.16 billion.

Another thing that is noteworthy is that the entire transaction cost just 0.00000672 BTC worth relatively $0.42 at the time of filing this report.

The largest crypto asset by market capitalization is down 7.6% from its all-time high of $67,276.79, which was recorded last week shortly after ProShares launched the United States’ first Bitcoin futures exchange-traded fund (ETF).
