Rumor: JPMorgan Chase May Be Quietly Building Exposure to XRP

Recent market chatter suggests that JPMorgan Chase may be quietly building exposure to XRP ahead of potential spot ETF approvals. While this remains unconfirmed, the report signals a shift in how major financial institutions could approach digital assets.

Crypto commentator John Squire (@TheCryptoSquire) shared this observation on X. The possibility of JPMorgan increasing its XRP holdings has generated interest because it aligns with ongoing momentum in U.S.-based spot XRP ETFs.

XRP ETF Dominance

U.S. spot XRP ETFs launched in late 2025 delivered historic results. Canary Capital’s XRPC ETF debuted on Nasdaq in mid-November and recorded approximately $58 million in trading volume on its first day.

Other ETFs, including Franklin Templeton’s EZRP, Amplify’s XRPM, Bitwise’s XRP, 21Shares’ TOXR, and REX-Osprey’s XRPR, also launched between November and December 2025, attracting substantial investor interest.

By the second half of December, spot XRP ETFs crossed $1.3 billion in assets under management. These products recorded positive weekly inflows through the end of the year, demonstrating sustained investor confidence in XRP as a liquid and accessible asset.

Momentum Could Extend Into 2026

The strong performance of these products provides a clear context for why major institutions like JPMorgan might consider increasing exposure to XRP.

ETFs offer regulated, transparent, and scalable access to XRP, making it easier for institutional players to enter the market. With multiple spot XRP ETFs showing record-breaking performance, it is reasonable to expect that 2026 could continue this growth trend.

Investors see a pathway for XRP to benefit from broader adoption in financial markets. Spot XRP ETFs serve as a vehicle for institutions and retail investors to gain direct exposure without managing custody. Early inflows and high trading volume indicate that investor demand is not only substantial but also sustained, reinforcing the digital asset’s positioning within regulated channels.

Outlook for XRP

U.S. spot XRP ETFs have proven strong institutional and retail interest in the asset. The combination of record-breaking ETF performance and rumors of JPMorgan exposure suggests a potential continuation of momentum in 2026.

While the rumor is unconfirmed, it reinforces the narrative that XRP is becoming an increasingly relevant asset for institutional portfolios. With more ETFs set to join the market this year, JP Morgan Chase might not be the only institution increasing its XRP exposure.
