Terra Classic Community Rejects “Six Samurai” Team’s Proposal to Revive LUNC: Here’s why

The Terra Classic community just voted unanimously to reject the proposal of the “Six Samurai,” a group of six smart and experienced full-stack engineers.

Despite the community’s acknowledgment of the planned innovative L1 and L2 developments stated in the $116,000 three-month budget, the majority voted “No, with veto.” This demonstrated the community’s opposition to funding for the team’s work on LUNC.

Proposal 11600, titled “Terra Allies ‘Six Samurai’ Senior Engineering Team (L1/L2 Q3 Bid & Proposal),” earned 57% of “No, with veto” votes, 36% of “No” votes, and just 7% of “Yes” votes.

Regrettably, the suggestion was not well received by validators and other developers. Prominent validators include Happy Catty Crypto, Classy’s Sphere, Lunanauts, JESUSisLORD, StakeBin, and others who stated their opposition by openly rejecting the proposal.

The community provided compelling reasons to oppose the Six Samurai team, which is led by Bilbo Baggins and Solid Snake. Concerns highlighted included a lack of transparency about the developers’ qualifications and capabilities, a strong belief in the existing Joint L1 Task Force development team, and concerns about potential bad actors within the proposed team. Notably, the main source of concern was a lack of finances in the community pool to accommodate all existing ideas.

Six Samurai’s Laid Out Plan for Terra Classic (LUNC) Revival

The Terra Allies “Six Samurai” squad had laid out a plan to revitalize the Terra Classic network. The relocation from Columbus-5 to Columbus-6 was a key milestone since it reduced synchronization time for archive nodes, streamlining network operations. The Cosmos SDK would also be upgraded from version 0.46.x to version 0.47.x, according to the team.

Other goals included pursuing Terra Classic (LUNC) listing on Keplr’s web interface—an analytical visualization tool—and Mintscan, a Cosmos block explorer targeted to crypto exchanges and customers. Furthermore, the team intended to work on USTC’s repeg.

“LUNC has limitless upside potential, and we want to help realize it by leveraging our skills to bring value to the blockchain and all its investors in order to accomplish a true revival of the ecosystem. We will also coordinate and cooperate with any other teams that win a mandate to dev on LUNC.”

Furthermore, the Six Samurai team is committed to partnering and coordinating with other teams that secure development mandates for LUNC.

The team expressed their strong commitment to reviving the Terra Classic environment and their willingness to invest the necessary resources. They have stated their willingness to engage and coordinate with other teams that have been given mandates to develop LUNC.
